The software auotmatically resizing images is great. Love the whole thing.

One problem though, it does not work for all images.

ram suggested it is the really big ones that it does not work for and that seems right

Is there anything that can be done about that?

I would actually like to scrap the VR mod version of Fancybox in favour of my own implementation of Fancybox because I think I can do it more consistently (i.e. to include large images and images in PMs for example) and probably more economically too. I'll look into this over the next few days.  :tu

Thanks to CEM's suggestion and my own impatience with the limitations of the Fancybox mod, I have reimplemented Fancybox myself natively in the VeloRooms script library this afternoon.

This should now be working normally for you, unless your username is Amsterhammer and you have a bizarre computer configuration.  ;D

Today's change means that "zooming in" on small thumbnails should now be a bit more fun:

    1. The effect no longer applies to small images including icons, emoticons etc.
    2. The effect newly applies to images posted in PMs.
    3. I have freed up the Fancybox system to allow us to use it in custom pages like the Giro livechat, which will enable us to embed other stuff (e.g. videos, content from other pages etc) in a fancybox view from these locations.
    4. You should now see a thumbnail series instead of the cumbersome left / right arrows.

Please post here if you experience any problems.

    Best wishes,
    L'arri  :tu

Maybe I celebrated a bit too soon, sorry L'arri.

I had one photo, admittedly absolutely huge, fail to resize down to the small size. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2a/Allens_swamp_monkey.jpg

Overall though things are way better, I am happy.

I am starting to think it is source dependent. Anything from Wikipedia does not want to shrink.

If you cannot do anything about it then that is okay, there seems to be more than 1 size of the file available anyway so I am just choosing a small enough file.

    Thank you L'arri.

Not sure if it is just me, but I would really appreciate a "pop-up version" of the shoutbox, which you could launch from the usual shoutbox, one that you can reduce in width to the width of the shoutbox only (without the neighbouring columns triggering a horizontal slidebar). That way, when you type something in it, it doesn't suddenly refocus to its window to its entire width, as that often creates annoying overlap with the window that has the streamed race, sitting right next to it. It would save a lot of clicking during races, to regain focus there, once I have been "shouting".

It's not a real issue on my home PC, but once I move to laptops etc, I am juggling windows all the time, especially during the races. Surely I am not alone in that?

Thanks, CEM. In fact, the issue with Wikipedia/Wikimedia/Wikin is already known to us and we can't fix it because we don't know how to. I think it has to do with the way the images are downloaded from the Wikin servers, i.e. in progressive packets rather than all-in-one. So, any other source should be properly resized but Wikin will continue to be an exception.  8)

The wiki image has confused me since the start. A few big images appeared and i was like wtf, for some reason the size tag does just doesnt get added to them.

you can force it manually using the  [ img width=200 height=xxxx ] at the start instead of straight [ im g] but no idea why the auto recognise script doesnt spot them.

but its a bit much for people to remember that :D

Yes you can use the image tags to force them but there are usually multiple sizes of the same image available so I have been just choosing one that is small enough.

Ive been to Hell drove on road 666 to get there as well

    Hell, Norway
Cue "Hell freezing over" joke here. Hell, Norway, has gained notoriety for the combination of its name and sub-arctic temperatures. The average temperature in February 2010 was a balmy 20 degrees F. Tourists have trekked to Hell in recent years, many to photograph themselves in front of one of the town’s train station signs.

Hell freezes over, on average, a third of the year, running from December through March

I have been having this same issue.  I'm always frantically trying to resize and align the shoutbox into a skinny portion of my live feed screen....but the other side columns make it tricky on my laptop.  I thought I was just lame   ;D :-[

theres been a glut over thelast week.. we had a few in the first few weeks, they calmed down, and now they are back.. it appears on the surface to be a server problem. Server turns itself off, when it reboots certain tables are corrupted (generally the online users, and members tables). THe other option is that the database is corrupting and causing the server to shutdown, the chances of this are about 1%

Ive spoken to the owners of my server and they are investigating as this has been a widespread problem for a number of vps owners recently. They are saying it now should be rectified and on the surface things should be smoother, when i go into my admin panel (i host about 8 sites) i used to be getting "invalid domain" errors regularly on various sites, they all seem to have cleared up now.

If the problems with the current vps providers continue i have another company lined up who are happy to do me a free trial to prove they have reliable servers, and they are also based in cornwall which for me is a good thing.

At the moment, all the staff now have access to my phone number, so if the site goes down when me or larri arnt around they can text me, i can get to the admin panel on my phone and fix things pretty smartish.

nah, no virus's.. very very rare for virus's to ever be on a website unless they are intentionally put there.. and the server is scanned regularly and my machine would pick up anything like that.
