You sound like my sons  :)  trying to talk me out of my ipad  ;D
I have an android phone...I don't think the android tabs keep up with the ipads....I may be wrong.
I will see how the  'genius' shpeil goes  :D

keep up.. yeh they do. they are still behind as far as number of applications go, but they are catching. And the key thing there is ipad2 is ipad2, and will always be ipad2.. android 3, will be andriod 4 etc.. the nature of android is that it eventually will be developed well beyond what apple do, thats the joy of open source software, just takes a little longer.

if youve got android phone makes more sense to get an android tablet. you can keep all your contacts, emails, files etc synched between the two happily then.

heres what you do

go to the apple store and ask the sales person "what are the DISADVANTAGES of this versus an android tablet" then go to another store and ask the sales person "what are teh DISADVANTAGES of this v apple"

Always ask them what the weaknesses are.. if you ask them why you should buy it you just get sales pitch.

Then see which gives the most honest answer :D

I was reading about the 'training' that they give Apple employees.
They teach them exact wording and phrases so they would never admit semantically that their product had any disadvantages.
If there is a problem with any device, they are instructed to use wording that deflects from any 'problem' and turn it into a temporary minor issue that will be resolved.  :D

Quite entertaining.

I installed TunnelBear a VPN network I get a USA or UK IP. You can switch back and forth. You get 500mb of bandwidth a month for free. I have tried proxies and had no luck streaming through them. But 500mb isn't that much streaming but it works very well and it's free  :win
Please use TunnelBear only for good. oh yeah and maybe a couple of sockpuppets  ;D

I would say that facebook have changed the way they link images, which will cause widespread chaos

Its possible we could do some sort of routine in the database to replace every occurence of sphotos-a in the databse with sphotos-h-a but i wouldnt know how to do that.

I can help you with that if you really want to do it but it is not generally a good idea. PM me if you want to do it.

It's quite risky, Krebley, because you have to do the change at the database level and that is something that can have dangerous consequences if it goes wrong.  ???

I think it was me. I read an article on a trick on how to post pics to Facebook via hotlink I think all the pictures urls changed then adding the extra letter. I think if it was everyone there would be some sort of buzz on the net.

my new laptop cannot be repaired.
"Larry

$900 is not acceptable. I just purchased this computer for $1400 and it never worked properly. A replacement is acceptable. but would need to match the specs of my computer. i.e. Envy, i7 intel processor, 17" 1900x1600 HD screen, 1gb dedicated video card, 750gb hd

"Hello Larry,

Anyone know why videos on youtube and dailymotion are suddenly not playing? About half the youtube videos play as normal, but half just have a black box where the video should be. Flash player is up to date... that's the only trick in my bag.

On another note, does anyone have experience with a 7" tablet? Thinking of getting my wife a Nexus 7 for Christmas, but not sure if the mini tabs are as handy as the 10" versions. Krebs, is this what you use?

Yes the nexus 7. I love it. It's perfect for what I use it for. The nexus 10 is killer but too big for my needs. The gps still works when in wi-fi so you can find your location. no turn by turn but it saved my ass in San Diego last trip. I thought tablets were silly till I got one. Still like the laptop better. So many places have free wi-fi that lack of network has not been an issue  :tu
