That is indeed a funny photo.   Something about those splayed arms and legs mid-air.   ;D

We don't have bears in Australia, and it's hard for me to get my head around the idea that is a REAL bear. I keep thinking it's someone dressed in a bear costume.  I have to keep looking at the scared-looking policeman (?) in the bottom left hand corner to convince myself its real.  :)

we have Koala bears, :)

But I agree, it does not really look real.

Sad end to bear story :(

DENVER (Reuters) - A black bear made famous by an Internet photo of it falling from a tree after being tranquilized was struck by two cars and killed on a highway in Colorado this week, authorities said on Friday.

The 280-pound (128 kg) bear, which was tagged and relocated to the mountains about 50 miles from the city of Boulder last week, was killed on Thursday morning, Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill said.

Last week, the three-year-old bear was spotted in a tree outside a student housing complex at the University of Colorado.

Crowds gathered to observe the animal, and a photographer with the school's student newspaper captured a shot of it with arms and legs splayed as it fell from the tree after wildlife officers shot it with a tranquilizer dart.

The bear was not injured in the fall. The photo went viral on the Internet and "the falling bear" even garnered its own Facebook page and Twitter account.

Despite being relocated to the mountains, the bear returned to the city and was killed about two miles (three km) from the campus, having crossed greenbelts and irrigation ditches in search of food, Churchill said.

Colorado State Patrol spokesman Trooper Josh Lewis said both cars that hit the bear "were totaled," and one of the motorists was treated for minor injuries.
The psychiatrist said it was an excellent session. He even gave me this jaw restraint so I won't bite things when I am startled.

Thank you for updating this krebby.  I couldn't bring myself to do it yet.  :(

very sad.  I can't believe the ending to this poor bear's story.  :(
He does have a tribute on Facebook though...

the house is moving forward again albeit at a slower pace. my seemingly endless funds ended. so la little at a time. had to change a few plans but major expenses are behind me. no longer brick and concrete patio. but gravel, a fountain and grape arbor as a great low cost sub. trying to recycle as much stuff as i can.

"do it again" Chuy and Raul working hard

Roses for in front of the deck

I wasn't sure if I wanted to end at house or go all the way to the wall

I am glad I went all the way! ::)

This pile is remnants of the front porch and front yard bricks

big pile

going to use them here to build a 2ft high wall along the edge.

After all the dark drab monotones that the house used to be. It's now starting to come alive with color

It's like getting slapped in the face when you walk out the front door and see vibrant colors

hopefully gravel the front soon

Seems a bit large for a cat.

Has it gone mental in the backyard? Running around in gay abandon type.

dim, these deer are so tame they are like pets in my yard  ;D

More critters we don't have here. Except in zoos. I think Tony might be right.  :D

Nice to have such visitors, mew. A privilege, really. We just get the neighbourhood cats. Mind you, it can be funny watching them congregate and sit facing-off together.

Siz we have so many deer...sometimes we have 15 laying about in our yard.  Then at night the raccoons come ambling out....they scream like crazy sometimes.
There are also mountain lions that mosey into our neighborhood..although they are occasionally seen.  Bears, and a couple of years ago we had families of foxes in our yards on our street.

Maybe that's why every new cyclist from the US I hear of is from Boulder. Just got to be fly thanks to the deer.

Nothing to do with deer and animals then? Only altitude? That's a bummer.

He/she/it, I'm not feeling up the rabbit's nethers, has grown a bit. Now wasting away in the garden, but has had a go at everything around it when indoors, the newspapers, my shirt, and all this with barely any teeth.
