Interesting, never knew it got so dry, kinda assumed it would be a very green place somehow, although I'm not clued up about it at all, come to think, I've mostly seen pics of Boulder in Winter, it is probably marketed more for its snow sports? Bear activity! That's just so awesome. And scary! As for jogging in the heat - I'd be telling you the passwords to my bank account and credit card pretty swiftly just to make. it. stop.

Awesome, Mew.
thnx!
it is an amazing place really...and now it is so green...it hardly ever stays like that. We don't get that much rain and it gets dry, dry .. :ohno:
today the flowers were out..a trail was closed because of BEAR activity which never really happens this late..and it was cool and cloudy.

I am not good when it gets in the high 90s F and the sun is hot  :o_o :o_o :o_o

It is 8:30 at night and I am sitting by our front window watching some massive lightning move over the mountains close by ...yow! it's coming towards us

:O

We had a big storm here around 04:00. The Artist Formerly Known As Mrs L'arri hates them and she was up and around as soon as the first crashes came. It was all unexpected and seemed to appear quite suddenly, or maybe it was just because I woke up with it overhead.

It is a beautiful thing to watch though, especially if you have a porch or some sort of vantage point. When I was a kid I used to watch them roll through the valley during summer evenings. The sense of anticipation was the most alluring part: all the animals going quiet, the freakish stillness and the sky turning brownish, full of improbable dark tones the likes of which only Netherlandish landscapists have ever managed to reproduce.

I'm also going to place a little tribute here for an amazing person that became a friend...
he passed away last night.

Layton Kor
he was revered and respected as one of the legendary climbers of the world...famous for big walls and first ascents..his ascent of the Eiger
http://www.alpinejournal.org.uk/Contents/Contents_1966_files/AJ%201966%20256-260%20Gillman%20Eiger.pdf

I was lucky enough to meet him decades ago when I was out climbing..and we climbed together several times and did routes that he had made famous. He had a twinkle in his eye and a childlike silly sense of humor.
He will be missed.

Saw one movie about that Eiger effort, it is really scarry mountain. Respect.
