he passed away last night. Layton Kor he was revered and respected as one of the legendary climbers of the world...famous for big walls and first ascents..his ascent of the Eiger http://www.alpinejournal.org.uk/Contents/Contents_1966_files/AJ%201966%20256-260%20Gillman%20Eiger.pdf I was lucky enough to meet him decades ago when I was out climbing..and we climbed together several times and did routes that he had made famous. Might go along and see the Banksy, though. The last two days in London have been so amazingly good. First proper weekend of sunshine this year. I was in Hyde Park yesterday for the 420 celebrations and it was so nice. Sun still shining today too, I'm just sat near my window chilled out with music playing. What a day. It's all damp valleys, child abuse and sooty stone (as can be seen in mew's picture). Take your bike kit, mew. Lots of great cycling over there among the Satanic Mills, including one of the UK's iconic climbs Holme Moss within spitting distance, though I'm more of a Yorkshire Dales man myself.
