Missing cyclist possible victim of a land mine. The family of the missing cyclist Floris Johan Dierdorp (58) will travel to Serbia to search for him. The man from Papendrecht has been missing for 3 months. Dierdorp left for Turkey on his bike on 10th March. Eleven days later he withdrew some cash in Sarajevo in Bosnia and on 23rd March he was seen near the border of Serbia. After that there isn't a single trace of Dierdorp. It is feared that he might have been attacked by a bear or killed by a land mine. His family fears for the life of the single man and will start a flyer campaign in Serbia. "We hope for a miracle. He has't withdrawn any money and nobody can survive without money for three months," his cousin Heleen Dierdorp says. The police has sent out an international missing persons report via Interpol. A big search hasn't commenced yet. "We have too few clues for local searches in Serbia, Bulgaria and Bosnia. This is like looking for a needle in a haystack. We did check all hospitals and prisons in this huge area. All embassies are looking out for Dierdorp." The giant Dierdorp is a skilled cyclist. He makes a lot of long trips without planning them beforehand. According to his family he likes to camp in the wild. In the area he was last seen, there are a lot of bears which makes camping dangerous. The police allow for multiple scenarios: "It's improbable that Dierdorp doesn't contact his home by choice. Maybe he has been involved in an accident or maybe he is the victim of a crime," a spokesperson says. Travelers are urged not to leave the roads in Bosnia because of the high number of land mines. Despite the many dangers Dierdorp's family hasn't completely lost faith: "His luggage and bike haven't been found yet."
