I'm going to guess that Del did not expect Meintjes and Froome to almost make him the top scorer on a prestigious stage.

Although it was not the most notable fall in position yesterday, I did think Pidcock's GC fall yesterday was the beginning of a more dramatic drop away.  Which is why I am 20th.

    Stage 13
    A break to St Etienne

    Green points
By this stage, many of us will be wondering why we invested a decent proportion of our budget on a sprinter.

I might get a chance to do an update on which riders are making what point contributions tomorrow, but in case I don't, the spreadsheet is here

And the interforum challenge remains rather one sided:

    Top two  teams
    VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas
    THOMAS Geraint
    EWAN Caleb
    SAGAN Peter
    are common to both teams,

so the difference is being made by:
    Northerner
    BARDET Romain
    JORGENSON Matteo
    ROLLAND Pierre
    EEKHOFF Nils

    18 Valve
    GROENEWEGEN Dylan
    PIDCOCK Thomas
    BAUER Jack
    (MØRKØV CHRISTENSEN Michael)

So the key points seem to be Groenewegen on stages 19 and 21, and whether Pidcock and or Bardet maintain (or even improve) on their current positions.  Or whether Bauer, Eekhoff, Jorgensen or Rolland go mad on a breakaway, at a push.

Stage 16  Into the Pyrenees, then down to Foix

    Green points
    HOULE Hugo      80      0
    MADOUAS Valentin      50      1
    WOODS Michael      35      0
    JORGENSON Matteo      25      3
    STORER Michael      15      1
    VLASOV Aleksandr      10      7
    TEUNS Dylan      5      0
    GESCHKE Simon      3      1
    BURGAUDEAU Mathieu      2      0
    CARUSO Damiano      1      4

RhD gets 5 times as many green points today as her total from the previous 15 stages.  But don't worry, she's still last (here at least).  Of the three teams on 25 points, it is Archie who has Storer and Vlasov rather than Jorgenson.
    1      RedheadDane      50

    3      ArchieBoy      25
    3      ChrisDK      25
    3      Northerner      25
    6      Vlasov teams      10

    Standings
No positional change in the top ten, only Northerner got more than 1 point.

    8      Del1962      304
    9      Lecko      290
    10      Bonimenier      285

    Yellow points
A fair shake up in 4th - 11th in GC, where the points are not insignificant.
    GAUDU David      90      6
    VLASOV Aleksandr      70      7
    MADOUAS Valentin      60      1

    Standings
18 Valve has a zero sum day, with Vingegaard's yellow jersey bonus cancelling out Pidcock's loss of a position.  While for Northerner, Jorgenson's exploits, even with the same maillot jaune points, can't make up for Bardet's losses on the day, so the lead changes hands again.

    Stage 17
Peyragudes, the third runway finish of the Tour, and UAE have a team after all.

    Green points
    POGACAR Tadej      80      1
    VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas      50      6
    MCNULTY Brandon      35      0
    THOMAS Geraint      25      26
    LUTSENKO Alexey      15      1
    BARDET Romain      10      8
    GAUDU David      5      6
    VLASOV Aleksandr      3      7
    MEINTJES Louis      2      3
QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander      1      3

The combination of Vingegaard, Bardet and Thomas beats Pogacar.  The top 2 overall are 1st and jt 3rd in this table.
    1      Northerner      85
    2      Yellow_Knight      80
    3      18Valve      75

All of Yellow Knight's points come from one rider, but that is Pogacar.

    Yellow points
A bit of a shake up in the KoM points and in the lower top ten.  If yo avoided picking English riders, you'll not have done too badly.

Bardet's recovery and Pidcock's large loss of time means a swing back to Northerner's advantage.

I suspect I won't be able to post tomorrow's update until late afternoon on Saturday, what what impact the break/sprinters will have here will only be revealed late.  But the key question in terms of the top of out table is whether Groenewegen features.

    Gradually catching up...

    Stage 20  Rocamadour Time Trial
If four guys managed to beat the twice and reigning world champion, one can only assume that they have been hiding away anonymously in the gruppetto for three weeks, saving their matches.

    FINAL STANDINGS
We have seen a battle between two teams at the top for some time, with quite a bit of change of the lead, but in the end Northerner has prevailed. The six  Vingegaard teams take the top 6 spots, and the five of them that included Thomas are the top 5, so strength in depth has been the key.

Congratulations to Northerner on victory, to 18 Valve for keeping it close, to Los Brolin for filling out the podium,
to those who made the key pick of Vingegaard, and thanks to all who competed with less success, to the riders, and to CQ and PCS for the results and numbers.

I should be able to do some analysis, but I suspect it will be more likely to be Tuesday than tomorrow.

Rather later than I had intended, but let's see what the data tells us:

    Green points
Riders scoring the equivalent to 2nd on a stage or higher:
    VAN AERT Wout      480      0
POGACAR Tadej      450      1 (Yellow Knight)
    VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas      343      6
PHILIPSEN Jasper      313      1 (Jumbo Visma Fan)
    MATTHEWS Michael      182      0
    PEDERSEN Mads      160      0
    GROENEWEGEN Dylan      148      5
LAPORTE Christophe      125      1 (Chris DK)
    THOMAS Geraint      125      26
    HOULE Hugo      115      0
    PIDCOCK Thomas      106      2  (18 Valve & DJSprtsch)
    JAKOBSEN Fabio      97      1 (Josedin)
CORT NIELSEN Magnus      95      2  (DJSprtsch & Search)
    SAGAN Peter      90      15
    JUNGELS Bob      82      7
    GAUDU David      80      6
LAMPAERT Yves      80      1 (Bicycle Boy)
    CLARKE Simon      80      0
QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander      67      3
    BETTIOL Alberto      65      4
    JORGENSON Matteo      65      3
    PINOT Thibaut      61      11
    KRISTOFF Alexander      60      0
WRIGHT Fred      57      1  (Blues in the Bottle)
    MEINTJES Louis      53      3
    VAN POPPEL Danny      51      0
    CASTROVIEJO NICOLAS Jonathan      50      2
    GANNA Filippo      50      2
    SCHULTZ Nicholas      50      0
MADOUAS Valentin      50      1 (Redhead Dane)
    POWLESS Neilson      50      0
VAN DER HOORN Taco      50      0

As far as I can find, the best possible team targetted specifically at this classification would have been:
    VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas
    GROENEWEGEN Dylan
    THOMAS Geraint
    PIDCOCK Thomas
    LAMPAERT Yves
    HOULE Hugo
    JUNGELS Bob
    CASTROVIEJO NICOLAS Jonathan
    for 1049 green points

    Top riders on top teams:
    1      18Valve      818   Vingegaard/Groenewegen/Thomas/Pidcock/Sagan
    2      Northerner      678   Vingegaard/Thomas/Sagan/Jorgenson
    3      BluesInTheBottle      646   Vingegaard/Groenewegen/Jungels/Wright
    4      LosBrolin      616   Vingegaard/Thomas/Sagan/Castroviejo
    5      Lecko      549   Vingegaard/Thomas/Bettiol
    6      DJSprtsch      513   Thomas/Pidcock/Cort/Jungels/Castroviejo
    7      Carrick_on_Seine      512   Groenewegen/Thomas/Sagan/Jungels
    8      DJW      478   Vingegaard/Thomas
    9      Yellow_Knight      450   Pogacar
    10      Kazistuta      422   Thomas/Sagan/Quintana/Bettiol/Pinot

Pogacar did single handedly put a team into the top ten: had anyone selected van Aert that alone would have got them 8th in this table, without any other scorer.

    Yellow points
Riders getting more than 100 points
    VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas      1208      6
    POGACAR Tadej      1060      1
    VAN AERT Wout      720      0
    THOMAS Geraint      506      26

    GRUZDEV Dmitriy      50.0      0
    NIV Guy      50.0      0
    ROWE Luke      50.0      0

    Impeccable picks:
    VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas
    THOMAS Geraint
    MEINTJES Louis
    JUNGELS Bob
    SCHULTZ Nicholas
    CASTROVIEJO NICOLAS Jonathan
    MÜHLBERGER Gregor
    FROOME Chris

    Best possible team (I think):
    VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas
    THOMAS Geraint
    MEINTJES Louis
    JUNGELS Bob
    PIDCOCK Thomas
    HOULE Hugo
    PINOT Thibaut

First, the data I hadn't given at the end of the Tour, which I had decided a while ago I would put up today as a prompt for your Vuelta game entries.

    Inter-Forum challenge
    CN 1182
    VR 1027
A resounding, if rare, victory for the team in purple.

    4 seasons title
Points from the two GTs so far and the Spring Classics game, with the Vuelta to decide the honours.  Leader BitB already has his team in for the Vuelta, but we shouldn't let him have a free run at it.

    El Tramodolito update
But then we had yesterday's news about Quintana.  I always regard whatever is the state of play at the end of the event according to CQ as the official record for the purposes of these games (to my own cost, blooming Roson).  I don't apply the same reasoning outside of the games, it is just a matter of being able to put a game into history and move on.

So the changes noted below will not be in the the archived results or affect the 4 seasons challenge, but for interest only.

Quintana, who was on three teams, loses all 327 points.  Those who benefited most are:
    BARDET Romain      46      8
    MEINTJES Louis      30      3
    YATES Adam      25      2

Leadbelly, with Bardet, Yates, Pinot and Thomas, would have seen the  biggest boost to his score.  The highest placed of the Quintana teams had been in 12th, so the major positions would not affected: DJSprtsch is the only manager in the top ten to gain a place when this is taken into account.
