Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

    StayFill Review
What is StayFill? According to their P.R. man, Prescott Stone, it is a proprietary gas blend that will keep your tires inflated for over a year. While they don’t list the exact ingredients, they do tell us that it is non-toxic, non-flammable, and non-ozone depleting. Nitrogen fits all of those bills, so my armchair guess is that these canisters contain mostly nitrogen. They even use the tagline that their product helps you… or perhaps – your tires – “Stay Harder, Longer”. If that doesn’t sell product, I don’t know what will.

Does it really work? After using Stayfill for several months, I can confirm that it does last longer than air. I installed it in to both mountain bikes and triathlon bikes… bikes with sealant, and without… here, there, and everywhere. StayFill works, Sam I Am - just don’t use it for green eggs and ham.

    http://hiconsumption.com/2012/11/airless-bicycle-tires-by-brian-russell/

Colorado based designer Brian Russell of Britek is looking to solve this problem with his new airless bicycles tires, a technology he likes to call Energy Return Wheel. Rather than using air, the tires use rubber that has been stretched over a series of carbon nano tube reinforced composite rods that were designed to provide the same cushioning as traditional, air filled tires would provide. The best part is that the rods can be adjusted, allowing the tension on the rubber to adapt to different road conditions and terrains, improving both flexing and recoil cycling for riders.

Call me woefully old-fashioned but... it really doesn't take too much effort to change a tyre or tube...  :fp

I never got further than "instead of air, it uses rubber".
So, going back in time 120 years and using the same tires as back then is called progress now?

Welcome to the age of the smartbike
The Helios handlebars, now on Kickstarter, are capable of making any bike smart. Armed with a super-bright headlamp, color-changing blinkers and a GPS tracker, these handlebars will make your bike safer — no matter where it is. And those features are just the tip of the pedal-powered iceberg.

Helios handlebars can connect via Bluetooth to your smartphone, allowing you to customize your biking experience. From your phone you can coordinate the colors of your blinkers, have your bike's lights pop on when you approach, and even set a color-changing visual speedometer. When the speedometer is turned on, the twin, rear-facing blinker bulbs shine red when traveling slowly, yellow then green when accelerating, and blue when you hit the neighborhood of 35 MPH.

The same lights, when acting as turn signals, are push-button activated — blinking for five seconds when tapped. And the most basic of features, the headlamp, is a CREE LED bulb which can output 500 lumens, five times the brightness of the average bike light. Helios is still in the works, but you can reserve an advance set of handlebars (in either drop or bullhorn style) over on the project's Kickstarter page for a cool 200 bucks, plus shipping.

Interesting idea, although im not sure of the use..

Headlight - yes, thats useful, as mounting lights on bars is a pain in the neck (for example on mine with two sets of brake levers there is no room for a lamp)...
GPS - largely worthless really for connecting to a smartphone as they have gps built in.. Might be useful as a security feature for locating stolen bikes.
Indicator lights - totally opposed to these from a safety points of view. Drivers wont recognise them, cyclists have used hand signals for 100 years, and thats the way it should be.

    Couldn't agree more!

Yes, it's one of Look's custom (and in my humble opinion rather ugly) cranksets. Look makes a lot of fuss about how good they are vis-à-vis the vanilla ones. I had a good look at one when I was buying my more modest model.

Glad they dropped the built-in stem thing though, that didn't look nice at all! :D

Yeah, they're not "standard" Look issue and even have Look stickers on them. Bit surprised. Normally, one sees phat Mavics.

I doubt it would be very useful, but I suppose it would perhaps aid road rage.
