Yeah there's someone else but only me who's handled it. Looking at seeing how much to replace now and whether or not to risk trying to do it myself. :D

i am fascinated by how your day goes where you have managed to break the screen but have no recollection of how you did it

drinking?
random game of indoor cricket?

Those would be excuse I could attribute it too. :(

Used it in the morning it was fine, put it down, went to use it again in the afternoon and it was broken.

My only guess is I handled incorrectly when I put it down. Either that or the cat jumped on it when I wasn't looking,  :-\

Working late as meeting the wife for an anniversary date at 7

got bored, reading the web and discussing with people at work

after discussing topics such as politics, new taxes, cr@p journalism, Kevin Rudd, inane facebook updates and more have now worked myself into an angry frenzy where almost any topic is setting me off in an angry rant

now have 30 mins to calm down before seeing the wife.

Managed to work myself up into an angry frenzy

Well despite not using it since this morning I've somehow broken the laptop screen. Rather peeed to be honest, it was sitting in one place all day, not sure how I managed it. Crappy picture taken off my mobile for the schadenfreude among us:

Considering it is a work phone that keeps throwing work at me around the clock in the forms of email, calls, and texts, perhaps this should go in a celebration thread.

Yesterday, on Feb. 29, the two faces of the cycle of life smacked me in the teeth. One friend became a grandfather, another lost his adult son.

The one who lost his son is one of those rare human beings whom you never forget, because he's so special, such a 'mensch'. I was in tears when I heard his news yesterday, and couldn't get to sleep till after 4 am. Re-reading the forum topic with condolences posted by his (and my) friends just now has thrown me straight back into last night's sadness.

To honor him, and his son's memory, my signature now shows the words with which he ends everything he writes.

This explains why so many friends of this family have been so shocked and distressed since we heard the news, and why I haven't been posting.....

may have made more sense is you were around when i started rant on shoutbox and was gently pushed in the direction of this thread

general anger and not being able to find real news because if you try to find any news about sydney today the only thing the world seems to be interested in is a crappy boy band that is here.

then made mistake of reading some of the stuff being written and depressed me very quickly.

looking at the anger directed at people making a harmless joke about the band.

concern about the similarities in volume and media between a boy band and Joseph Kony. as a PR rep now do you start your day thinking today i am going to make my band as big as a serial child killing psychopath

I understand, teenagers move onto and off trends very quickly. The amount of kids getting involved in Kony campaign made me laugh considering they they feel they are making an impact by retweeting a message about it to people and/or buying one of those bands that 'raises awareness'. ::)

I feel you are being a bit unreasonable and naive. The story that has an affect on a wide range of people especially when it is close to home will always get more attention than someone who is a serial killer, killing kids nobody knows or will care about after the Kony fad has passed. The second story is obviously more shocking and important but the news doesn't work that way. Your last line was rather ridiculous so I hope you were being sarcastic.

News stories which affect a larger number of people will always gain more attention than an incident that affects less people but is more serious/important. That's the way it is and in a way is still fair.
