Remember the first test? India were right crushed in Mumbai. They won the series in 2004 too.

I think that associates would be beaten easily inside 3 or 4 days against the best nations in FC cricket. I'd say Zimbabwe took a decent route in their comeback to test cricket. They played a lot of cricket against 'A' teams before their first test, even then, they came up well short in an overseas tour. A good team, backed up by a decent domestic cricket league, should be essential for consideration to tests. Can't have another Bangladesh like team, stumbling poorly against a semblance of resistance (at least 4 day cricket is okay in Zimbabwe).

It will take a lot of time for another test nation and it will be from the top bracket of associate nations, but a promising sign of a future cricket nation is all the way in Serbia. They have a rule of a maximum of four expats per side in their domestic club tournament. Maybe, if all countries had a similar system, it could work.
