Tests, by far then Twenty20s and lastly ODIs. The rule changes have been decent, still the fact is ODIs will always be formulated cricket. Nonetheless, the sport and fans have been lucky to have some exceptional cricket over the past year. A trend that could well be connected to the fact that bowlers are more successful nowadays.

Aye, dull tests really grind the gears and could kill the form. There has apparently been a trend to make pitches more bowler friendly in the last couple of years or so.

2/111, England will still fark up and lose this but at least they reached three digits with a respectable two wickets to fall.

Shhh... An England fan is daring to dream...

Of course, when my radio wakes me up early doors tomorrow morning and I then doze for an hour or so before having to get up with TMS keeping my company, England will no doubt contrive to cock this up in truly monumental fashion, at which point I will despair, somehow struggle through the day, and then find a pub and drown my sorrows.

These two seem to be going well now. Just need Prior to stay calm, not sure anything could get Trott excited, as the ball does not seem to be doing too much.

Still a long way to go though

Nup, you're not. It's both the boards whoring for money, South Africa because they've lost sponsors and struggling (see the suspension Majola and the whoress Kass Naidoo, it's to do with the IPL) for money and India because they can.

Sunil Narine likely to choose IPL ahead of a possible WI test debut. Sure the WICB are muppets, but I've never seen Lankans (who also don't get paid regularly) skip tests for the IPL. Shorten tours maybe, but never skip tests. Right whore.

Is it suprising? People have chosen IPL before other commitments as well. Money speaks and the Indians have far too much of it when it comes to cricket.

    Quote
Rupert Murdoch-owned Star ran out Sony to bag the broadcast and digital media rights from the Board of Control for Cricket in India for a whopping Rs 3,851 crore.

This contract is for six years, covering 96 matches in India, at an average price of Rs 40 crore per match, up from Rs 32.25 crore received from Nimbus Communications earlier. “This is a substantial improvement for us,” said Mr N. Srinivasan, President, BCCI.

The contract starts with the New Zealand tour of India, followed by England’s visit. Apart from all international matches held in India, the contract also covers domestic tournaments such as Ranji and Duleep Trophy.

Five parties – Star, ESPN Software, Multi Screen Media, Times Network and Zee – picked up the bid documents. Only Star and Multi Screen Media submitted bids, which were opened on Monday in Chennai. Runners-up Multi Screen Media, a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment, had quoted Rs 3,700 crore.

The winner was chosen after a “transparent process of verifying the eligibility of each bidder,” said Mr Srinivasan.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, said: “This is a great asset for us. We will, in collaboration with our partners ESPN Star Sports, spare no efforts in exploiting our rights and ensuring the BCCI calendar gets a pride of place.”

ESPN-Star already has the rights to all ICC events and the rights of domestic cricket in England and Australia.

Asked whether Star could look at more channels, Mr Shankar said, while it was adequately covered, it could look at a new channel if the number of matches increases significantly.

On whether the dip in TRP was a concern, Mr Shankar replied in the negative.

The contract with Star involves two years remaining from the Nimbus contract.

In 2009, BCCI struck a four-year deal with Nimbus valued at Rs 2,000 crore. It was to expire in 2014. But BCCI scrapped the contract last December citing payment defaults by Nimbus, which owns Neo Cricket and Neo Sports TV channels.

not a good sign for the test matches WI cricket board 11 were at 78/6 before a bit of tailendery got them to 200.

Just seeing some of the matches and there's good news for England. Spinners have been successful in the first innings too.

Englands batsman may last the day after all. Sri Lanka to bat first

and with no broad (please tell me he is injured) and no Panesar (because England are so terrified of being bowled out for under 200) unlikely to get Sri Lanka out any time soon

Panesar was sh*te in the last match though. He barely threatened to take wickets, even in the first innings I thought Swann was better.

Hat trick ball for Anderson coming up now, Sanga getting another first ball.
