  • Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

Have to say, I did find that rather odd, a mid-season switch, but I'm guessing the women's scene is a bit less structured on these things.

Argos has professionalised the women's team to an extent that may not suit everyone. Meanwhile Becker has a lot of experience - she's been racing with success on the road since 2006 and on the track even longer - and I could see how she might not get on with what is probably an unusual development for her.

I like Becker as a rider, she's very tough and has a big engine, so I hope we'll see some results from her in these six months. Perhaps she'll sign for longer after that.

Several moths in and nothing much else was on the horizon, so burning up the World Cup TTT and the World Champ event (who came up with that as an idea ? ) is a good way of getting "success".  Remember the main audience being payed out here is a "dull as ditchwater, we know nothing about cycling" UK sporting press .  If nobody wins anything on the men's side at the road Worlds a Wiggle TTT win would be seen as better than the second coming of Christ.

Guess it depends if the UK sporting press can take women's cycling more seriously than the sport's governing body.

Otherwise it will just be the second coming of Christine.

Doesnt want to train with the team. hardly generates team spirit does it. Thought Wiggle were all into team spirit and bonding. Seems an odd one.

Sounds like a progressive drawing down at Rabo, not quite circling the wagon but certainly a tightening up of belts.

Really hope that Pauline starts to take off a bit. She's had a decent year after injuries and whatnot but too much time doing VTT and not enough road for my tastes.  :D

Wild one more year at Argos, Lucy Garner two more.

Amen to that. Solid purchasing. Garner has some more growing to do but Wild has been very impressive this season, racking up wins on a par with her previous best.

Boels-Dolmans was uniformly crap this year, somewhat underlining the vast gap between the top two or three squads and all the rest of the women's élite.

EVD is a high roller, so let's hope she can bring in a few wins.
