Last year's was a weird US Open, and the best way to describe it would be that it was an Open championship course played in US Open conditions. Not long enough, not demanding enough and a good player was in form.

The course itself is usually a par 71, and it's got two or three monster holes, but the havoc has been caused by how fast the greens have been. Between 13 and 14 on the stimpmeter is fast, very fast and requires skill to be on the green. A lot of good shots have just flown through the greens and ended in the fringe or the rough.

As for the course, my only gripe is it is changed for stats and hype sake, but as long as it's the same for all the players, as it is now with everyone opening at 1, I have no issue with it. Donald scores an 79? Even I've done better :D

Of the names in that lot there, there's no doubt who I like more, McDowell, Lee, Els, COlsaerts and Kaymer.

Also, Senden's name in that list is not just out of the blue, it's astonishing the GIRs the guy has.

Should be a brilliant finale to the tournament.

So, Webb Simpson it is. Well played that man, as deserving a winner as has been in recent major championships.

Furyk just swung like a rusty gate towards the end and McDowell hit as many fairways as I would usually, and I'm sh*te at best.

    Frankel :pray what a win

Frankel is exhilarating, exciting, awe inspiring, and genuinely  jaw dropping to watch.  Hoping that he steps up in distance towards the end of this season - the way he won the other day, sitting in until half way and then going for it, suggested that an extra two furlongs won't be too much of a problem (in terms of lasting the distance).  It will be awesome if/when he does

Pretty amazing the WBO investigation into the Pacquiao-Bradley fight.
What was it, six or so judges all came up with a unanimous decision for Pac Man? And some by huge margin.

First time ever that no Australian man has made it into the second round at Wimbledon...  Bad times for the Aussies in tennis.

For what seems like the first time in ages, Murray - who was awesome in beating Davydenko - is joined by other Brits (four to be exact) in the second round.  Hope that a couple of them can go on into the third round.

    A great result for Rosol!

Nadal is a pr1ck, did you see the way he barged Rosol at the change over in one of the early sets. So glad he lost wish he would funk off!
And he'll be down to number 3 if Federer is half decent.

To the extent that it is possible for 9.86 to look slow, Bolt looked like he was running through treacle, and his start was absolutely terrible.

Irish open took place in Northern Ireland for the first time in nearly 60 years. Donaldson said that it was one of the finest courses the European tour was hosted in. Successful.

The third great horse in the world at the moment, Camelot, continued his own winning streak by winning the Irish Derby, making him the first horse to win both Derby's and the 2000 Guineas in a season since Nijinsky in 1970.  Now lining up for the St Leger, and bidding therefore to become the first horse since Nijinsky to claim the Triple Crown of Classic races.  Unfortunately, this means that we are unlikely to see Camelot go up against Frankel anytime in the near future  :(

Interesting documentary on the BBC about Rallying in the 80's when it was big business, and how it all got a bit out of hand.  From the same producers who did a fascinating documentary on Formula 1's 'killer years' - will only be available to view for 1 week

Webb Simpson having a grouse season, to follow up last year. Good man, a Major and looking good for another win tonight.

Mixed weekend for my favorite team (Atlanta Braves)
Bourn got added to allstar team, which makes 4 Braves on the team.
    And we swept the Phillies

BUT...our super future world beater shortstop Simmons fractured his hand today.  :(  :'(

    Still, Go Braves!!
