This year we are having a "predict the winner" game.

Points will be awarded for 1st to 5th place, and for 27th place for in all WT races, including each stage and for overall in stage races.

Points as follows :
rider in the top 5 = 1 point
right place in top 5 = 5 points
pick 27th = 20 points

The top score therefore is 45 points (5 each for 1st - 5th and 20 for 27th)

so if you pick 1st Tom, 2nd Phil and 3rd Fabian ... and Phil wins, Tom crashes and Fabian does get 3rd you would get 1 point for Phil (in top 5) and 5 points for Fabian (in right place)

The points will be added for each race and each stage - but anyone can participate for an individual stage or race, you do not have to be in for all (but you wont get any points)

Choices must be in 1 hr before the race/stage starts  (can pm me or post in thread)

Going on what Blackbandit said it may be better to do it using an excel sheet with everyone adding their own predictions and then the points and results getting added automatically. I just put together an example, not how it would be but just how it would work.

I did it using Google documents. All you need to do is click on the link and you can edit the document yourself. So you can just go to the bottom and edit your worksheet with your own individual predictions as you see fit (I have added AG, myself and JSG as an example). Then the results will be added and the rankings and points will be tallied up automatically.

Dont know if people will like it, just an idea

    I forget.

Who won the tour de France version of this last year?

  • Despite the self-serving data benders and associated propaganda to the contrary, I am led to believe that there are pockets of organised, highly sophisticated dopers, even within 'new age' cycling teams. Personally, I don't accept that the 'dark era' has ended, it has just morphed into a new guise.

and Froome - thanks.  That is pretty much how I was planning on doing it (though I was just going to enter stuff myself ... last year for the Tour it wasnt that hard as we didnt have all that many)

Might look into how to make it easy for me though  :D

points for jersey's was too easy though.  the jerseys dont always change much, so its too easy to get easy points

Probably. But i also payed a heavy price for my win since when i got inside info that Valverde had been waiting 2 weeks for Peyresoudes, instead of going online and banking 20-1 on him my first thought was - omg i have to beat jsg in that prediction game and put down Valverde as my pick NOW.

Wait is the 'Cancer classic' involved in the game?

no - the classic is just an add on ... is not part of the TDU, isnt WT and gets no points for anything.

Doesn't look like Guardini or Kittel are that motivated.  Today wasn't a WT race though so they should come around.

If Dennis doesn't start I'll sub Velits in.
