Velorooms Arcade
« on: January 29, 2013, 19:50 »
As you will have noticed Velorooms now has an arcade to fill those boring hours when you have nothing to do, compete against each other for high scores, and chill out.

To play games in the arcade you must have made a total of 5 posts in the preceding 24 hours.

The games then available to you are based on your posting.

Basic members have access to five games, but as your post count increases you get access to more games, for instance, once you hit Road Captain status (1000 posts) you unlock Super Mario World and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Supporters have access to all games by default.

Any questions, this is the thread.

Added today for members with post counts over 300 is a mystery solving game, Murder Room Escape.

Can you work out how to escape the room, use objects, unlock other objects and find your way out. The solution will be revealed in about a weeks time unless someone works it out before hand.

    Cheers.

Do scores submit in murder room? Got some wonky logic, has the game (not in the score submission, the game itself ).

i think murder room will just submit to the worldwide server. its the sort of game you either finish, or you dont. :D

I was scratching my head over it for an absolute age.

Im still trying to figure it all out, the rough idea will be 2 new games for each post level people reach as a little reward for posting.

yeh, its another pretty url issue. having done a lot of investigation, im no longer convinced that pretty urls, balanced against server load and the sheer volume of conflicts with other things is worth it. we are heavily spidered by google now, and while it was useful early on, im not convinced anymore.

    good article on sef here.

Hi, I was just wondering if any exceptions are made in regard to post count and access to games.  I have been a member here for over 12 months, and read this forum on a daily basis... but I have only managed 80 odd posts in that time.  Velorooms is my home, and I'm not going anywhere... sadly I'm just not a big contributor.

If they are the rules, thats fine, I respect that... I probably should not be wasting time anyway.

    Thanks.

Ooh there is a thread. I was going to ask on what grounds games were replaced? It doesn't seem to particularly tie in with popularity.

I took off the post restrictions a while back, so anybody can play games regardless of posts in a day
But the more posts you have teh more games become available, so when you hit domestic rider you get extra games, when you hit national champion you get a couple more games, and so on

Oh i just did a mass replacement of a load of stuff that had been around longer and less played.

if there are any particular games you want returned just ask and will put them back

Yeah that is what I was talking about - I have been here for over 12 months and have less then 90 posts.  I think I have another 110 posts to go before I get to the next level, so maybe by 2015... and that only gets me 4 more games.

This is my #1 online home... but unless I start making lots of dumb posts or start trolling (which nobody wants) then my post count is going to be low.  If rules are rules, that is fine.  However, if exceptions can be made for long term, but quite, members that would be nice.

I think the point is to provide an incentive to post more often. However I wonder if it is possible to reward quality as well as quantity.

or feel free to start a thread on something and i am willing to have a long and slightly pointless discussion with you on that topic in a series of short posts. so long as you do not steal my high scores. everyone is always stealing my high scores

I think FreedomRider needs a drug test after his recent performances in the Arcade.

Eleven records in about 30 minutes.  :o
