Tourists biking in italy--questions
« on: February 02, 2013, 18:52 »
Hello companheiros. I am brazilian and me and my wife are coming to bike in italy in april. We want to do ten days in italy and were wondering what would be the best way to get bikes. Are theirnstores that rent bikes for long term or maybe kind people who loan. Or should we buy and try to sell? Also what are the best routes for april?

I would guess that the Chianti region is where you will be able to find bike shops renting bikes. Whether road racing bikes or comfortable tourers, I dont know. But Tuscany is famous for bike tours. Andy Hampsten runs his bike tours in Tuscany alongside his Olive Oil business.

Chianti is a region where lots speak English.

I did enough shopping that they would positively welcome me back Beno.

Pretty sure I could rescue the italian economy  :D

La Mia amigo has just started a bike tour business in the Veneto, edge of the Dolomites. He guides, or gives a garmin. And he can rent a bike to you. Asolo bike tours. Flat, rolling, hills, mountains. Prosecco country.

    Sounds great David!

My wife and I are going to Como-Lecco in August this year and will be taking the bikes. Does anyone know of any good routes, groups, tips etc? Obviously the Madonna del Ghisallo is first on the list :D

    Nice

I will be there too - in September though - and without bikes :fp

still, is an awesome area.  There are loads of fantastic hills to ride, the scenery is absolutely incredible - it is truly the most beautiful place I have ever seen ... will be so great.

The cycling museum / local bike shops will probably have a lot of info.  I know in the mountains around the Stelvio / Valtelina there is a brochure with all the different climbs, gradients, tracks etc ... I dont know if Como Lake has one though
