Operacion Puerto - Names and Documents
« on: February 07, 2013, 15:54 »
For discussion please see the Puerto threads.

Codenames used

Please note: This list can never be regarded as factual, some of the names have been legally disclosed, some have been reported, some rumoured. There may be innacarucies. As with the documents enclosed, names are based on the recorded evidence, or appendix that calendars come from, however it must be noted there are a lot of strange inconsistencies with the Spanish Civil Guarda reporting and filing. I am not totally convinced they were completely dilligent in their work. If you are going to use these documents outside of here its your responsibility to double check

Codes:
Bg - denotes number of bags known to have been discovered
EPO - denotes in testing showed signs of epo useage
transfusion codes:
e1 - Donation of blood for refrigeration and one month shelf life (e one circle on documents)
e2 - Donation of blood for "Siberia" freezing (e two circles on documents)
r1 - Reinfusion of refrigerated blood
r2 - Reinfusion of frozen blood

Note: Bg does not list the full 200 bags found, only the 99 bags that were initially sent to the Barcelona Lab. A further 73 bags were sent later but there is no list available of those currently. A further 21 bags are "lost"

Update: this has now been updated. Source: El Pais

    The mysterious rider number 2...

Recorded as Birillo, this number has always been linked with Ivan Basso who denies doping, yet the calendar clearly shows him receiving reinfusions of blood.

Now its get meaty.. Rider 2 having a transfusion during the giro

    Rider 2 tranfusions for 2006

    30/4 1 out, 2 in (Pre giro)
1/5 (pre giro) 1 in and half a PL (Plasma?)
12/5 During Giro, 1 bag delivered (13/5 was first day in the lumps, Basso won the stage on the 14th putting at least a minute into almost every, 2 minutes plus into most)

    29/5 1 out, 1 in, 22/6 2 out, 2 in
    26/6 Pre Tour 1 in

at least 2 bags in reserve

This is another area were im not convinced on the accuracy of Fuentes notes, or the dilligance of the Spanish authorities when reporting evidence. How is it that rider number 2 (Basso) was never charged with doping if this evidence was available, how was Fuentes giving transfusions after the investigation had started. How did Basso get the transfusion during the giro - its not marked as delivery)

    Liberty Seguros Team Calendars
The reports of the lists of evidence specify that documents 3 to 36 related to the Liberty Seguros team calendars. Strangely, large numbers are not in the actual evidence, and the numbers actually only run from 8 to 29, with gaps in the middle. The mysterious case of the missing calendars.

    Liberty Seguros Team Calendars

    Liberty1: Rider not yet identified
    Liberty2: Rider not yet identified

I looked a bit at rider number 1, the Liberty Tour squad that year consisted of Heras, Beloki, Contador, Allan Davis, Jörg Jaksche, Luis León Sánchez, Marcos Serrano, Ángel Vicioso and Igor González de Galdeano. Out of these riders 4 didn't ride the Vuelta afterwards this illuminates Contador, Davis, Jaksche and Sanchez.  Beloki and Galdeano didn't ride the basque country so they can be eliminated as well.

This then leaves 3 riders, Heras, Vivioso and Serrano. All these riders were at Romandie, but Vivioso was not at Dauphine. Leaving Heras and Serrano, however none of these partisipated in Paris-Tours, which could be a change of schedule plan, Heras didn't participate in Il Lombardia but Serrano did, also it is hard to think they would have put Paris-Tours on Heras schedule to begin with, I think it could be Serrano.

    Post Merge: February 17, 2013, 13:49
As for rider 2 only 3 tour riders rode the Paris-Nice, Contador, Jaksche and Lulu, all of those also rode the Tour of Germany the same year, however of those three Jaksche was the only one to ride LBL and Milan-San Remo. So number 2 might very well be Jaksche.

Unknown rider from 2005. This is original detailed as Hamilton from 2002 in the files, but its not 2002 as the date of the Vuelta confirms, and Hamilton was suspended in 2005

    Aitor Osa 2003

Took a while, but whittled it down to four teams that contested those races, iBanesto, Telekom, Once and Phonak. By Asturias the only rider to ride all the races was Aitor Osa

Possibly a duplicate calendar. (See above)

    Vainstein? 2003

There is huge dispute over this one, current press is reporting codename "vains" as being related to Vanstein. However, contemporary reports at the time all reported Vains as number 20, the same number as Bella (or Jaksche). Jaksche in 2006 admitted to having multiple names including Bella, Jorge, JJ, Vains, and Vans.

The race schedule does howewver match Romāns Vainšteins, meaning we have two number 20's

This is where the efficiency of the Spanish Civil Police can possibly be called into question. This next calendar is in an appendix related to Alberto Leon Herranz a Spanish Mountain Biker.

However, the receipt in the appendix relates to "Paco" which is Mancebo and the schedule includes the dauphine, and you can clearly see from looking at Mancebos charts above this is the schedule for Mancebo.

So for some reason Mancebo's chart is filed under the evidence for Alberto Leon Herranz

And in relation to the above.

The charts were in evidence labelled as  Alberto Leon Herranz - Herranz was referred to as "Ali Baba" and was a courier and stopped cycling in 2001, but for some reason these four charts are recorded in his evidence but with the nickname of the rider as "Catalan" The years are unknown,

Catalan was the nickname of Jose Gutiérrez but strangely there are no races marked on the charts unlike other maps.
