A little help please - Campag Compact
« on: February 06, 2012, 06:27 »
In the process of rebuilding a De Rosa Professional SLX for my daughter.  Currently has a Super Record 52/42 drilled chain set on it.  Want to put on a compact for her, but want silver alloy finish - which. I think means I'm stuck with Athena.

Anyone know what the best prices are and where?  I'm in western Canada and you don't want to know what the distros charge here.

Any pointing arrows appreciated.

icebreaker - You could also keep your eye on eBay for a Centaur or Veloce square taper compact crakset.  They show up occasionally and the price is usually reasonable.

    Centaur, Square Taper, $160

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAMPAGNOLO-CENTAUR-CT-10-Speed-Crank-34-X-50-t-170mm-Alloy-ULTRA-DRIVE-EPS-NEW-/330679440013?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cfe07d28d

Much better looking than Ultratorque/Powertorque - especially on a classic SLX De Rosa.

Dawned on me this morning as I was leaving the house, I have a Centaur Compact on one of my bikes.  It's a 172.5 and she would be better with a 170 ( probably), but I'll put it on the De Rosa and see how she goes.

I've been switching all mine  to 175's anyway.

No argument there.  The new ones are pretty hideous.
