Uniformed Naming of Race Threads
« on: March 20, 2013, 00:54 »
Can I suggest that we go with a uniformed format for race threads.

I am LOVING the race threads here, people do such a fantastic job of them, I would just like to  see them being uniformed in their naming... It just helps (me and hopefully others) get all the important info at a glance (it saves me having to look anywhere else).

My suggestion is:

[UCI Clasification] Edition Name - Date

(if the Edition is not known that is not a bid deal)

eg

[2.1] Tour de Taiwan - 18-24 March 2013

[2.HC] 49th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey - 21-28 April 2013

etc

Then for GT's when they have their own section, stages have their own thread.

Stage Number - Location to Location - Distance - Date

eg

Stage 1 - Porto Bastia - 200km - 29 June 2013

An added bonus in these is the icon according to the flat, hilly, mountain classification of the stage.

This is just my suggested format... if there is a better format thats fine.  If the person who starts the thread forgets the format one of the mods could just fix it up.

Thanks again for all the work the race thread starters put into it... I hope this does not come across as ungrateful.

Full agree, i am forever changing the format of dates, or adding dates on.

For the race class, that should be selectable from the drop down on the thread, and then they can be sorted by category etc, its a bit buggy but im working on it in beta land.

But date format I think needs some consistency.

Now they sound nice, what are they?

Elsewhere, I blame jsg's total lack of conformity. He is a free spirit and an enemy of consistency.

somehow they seem to get lost, don't they? I have added them to my threads several times but most of them are gone

No idea why but if you add them when you add the race to the calender they stay.

No idea why but if you add them when you add the race to the calender they stay.

What happens, or so it seems, is whenever you edit the first post (which includes adding an item to the calendar) you have to reselect the drop down again.. then it stays.. (calendar add effectively edits the first post)

or thats how it seems.. this is being worked on in test land, to port across when fully fixed.. then i will reintroduce sorting by category to the races section.

Hi all - having put this together in Excel just now I thought I would share it. For those who want to include a startlist in their race previews, here is a CSV with the 19 WT teams and 6 wildcards (which happen to be the LBL teams...). Space for 8 riders in each team, along with kits (team or national champion) and national flags.

It's an export from a CSV file, so can just be copied and stuck inside the "csv=," tag.
