Have linked these 2 races together as they are sister races and welcome the womens peloton to Spain and will be used by a lot of the riders as a stage race with a rest day.

Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria (1.2) 4th of June

a single day race of 110 km lopping around Durango , up and down all day with Altéo deo Montekalbo  a nice Cat 2 to smash the race apart at the end. last year Emma Pooley used this as her platform to launch her attack which won her the race .

Emakumeen Euskal Bira (2.1) 6-9th of June

After a 1 day rest most of the peloton will look to the mountains of the next 4 days to fine tune themselves for the Giro Rosa. I will not go on as well I am  lazy - plus this preview would  kick mine in the ass.

Les Deesses de la route

But here are the maps and profiles

Stage: 2 - 7 June : Aretxabaleta, 108.00 km

  • Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

While we're getting all hot and bothered about the Tour warm-ups, an exciting battle has been happening in the Emakumeen Euskal Bira. Vos dominated at first but Emma Johansson clawed back the lead with an impressive TT win (the discipline is Vos' only real acknowledged weak spot) a canny breakaway win and a careful defence on the final stage as Vos' hold on the race definitively collapsed.

Emma smiling: not a sight we've seen much of in 2013 so far

So near yet so far for final stage winner Elisa Longo Borghini who outsprinted her winning group but failed to unseat Johansson and finished second on GC at the same time. Women's racing rocks hard, folks!

    GC:

great to See Emma J with a win

    Giro Rosa will be fun

Stevens has form Vos not as dominate, EmmaJ , Longo Borghini  should be a ripper race as usual
