  • Despite the self-serving data benders and associated propaganda to the contrary, I am led to believe that there are pockets of organised, highly sophisticated dopers, even within 'new age' cycling teams. Personally, I don't accept that the 'dark era' has ended, it has just morphed into a new guise.

Still a stand out brilliant night for me and it was over half a lifetime ago. Doesn't look as if it has been much affected by Health & Safety regs in the meantime.

For more "mainstream" sports - Water Polo come across as kind of pointless,  I was going to say Bull riding on ESPN but it can be entertaining - particulary when the redneck cow botherer gets kicked where it hurts.

Similar to tough mudder, this is the UK version

And another annual event, the Woolsack race

The sack is 60lbs, and the hill is veeeeeery steep (even to walk up, let alone run!).  There is also a relay race in teams of 4, where you have a toss up between trying to go uphill with the woolsack on your shoulders, or down the hill and run the very real risk of faceplanting into the road...

Rugby World Cup ... I mean, trying to pretend that rugby is an international game with enough depth to warrant a "world level" competition just because about as many people play the game globally as play hockey in Canada or race bikes in France. It's a joke, especially when in reality everyone knows that the question of who'll win is only really a choice between the poms, french, yarpies, ockers and kiwis ...  ???
