Really enjoying the prospect of a game like this continuing on to next season and the season beyond.
Who knows where any of us will be at that point, but definitely will make for interesting reading in 2016.

Even if I can hardly recall who I picked now, nevermind two years down the line.

This link for a reminder of your team for 18valve-JSG

And this one for amnesiac competitors Karaev to Vladimir.

(Those aren't really quotes, just ways of providing the links, which are the words above each quote box)

There are several legitimate picks that none of us went for that have had a good first year of the game (although they might, of course, fade in the next two years)

All of these have scored more than at least some of the top 20 that we did pick:
    GRADEK Kamil   372
DAVIDENOK Ilya   372 (Maybe not much chance of him adding in the next couple of years, or even retaining many of these points)
    DEMOITIE Antoine   284
    GROSU Eduard-Michael   266
    CONTI Valerio   262
    PARRINELLO Antonino Casimiro   257
    TULIK Angelo   250
    FEDI Andrea   250
    TVETCOV Serghei   247
    THEUNS Edward   227
    CANOLA Marco   221
    CARTHY Hugh   219
    BERNAS Pawel   217
    JARRIER Benoît   215
    BENOOT Tiesj   214
    ZANOTTI Marco   211

Obviously, with more than 200 this year, the lifetime total for these guys has passed 200, so having missed them for this edition of the game, you can't select them for the 2015-17 version either.

Will you be kicking yourself for missing these in two year's time?

Just to round off the first year of the game, there have been a handful of points scored since the last update:

    KOLAHDOUZ HAGH Amir got 20 points at the Tour of Fuzhou for Geraint Too Fast and Fauniera;
    BARBERO CUESTA Carlos got 2 points when Luca Benedetti's results were removed from Qinghai Lake for Ludwigzgz and Karaev;
POMOSHNIKOV Sergei got 1 point when Patrick Sinkewitz' results were removed from Trofeo Laigueglia for Leadbelly

but none of these changed the rankings.

A few glitches in the design of the spreadsheet for moving into year 2, but I think this is accurate.

    Best selected riders in January:
    Name/ points / popularity
    FERNANDEZ ANDUJAR Ruben   119   7
    EWAN Caleb   60   44
    SEPULVEDA Eduardo   59   5
    FORMOLO Davide   50   18
    BONIFAZIO Niccolo   38   4
JARAMILLO DIEZ Daniel Alexander   35   1
    HAIG Jack   31   2
    VUILLERMOZ Alexis   21   1
    VALLEE Boris   19   3
    HOWSON DAMIEN   17   30
    HEPBURN Michael   16   21
    BOSWELL Ian   16   7
    DILLIER Silvan   15   7
    VINK Michael   15   1
    KUDUS GHEBREMEDHIN Merhawi   12   18

The near ubiquity of Caleb Ewan means that everyone got a decent crop of points, considering the time of year:
    1   Mutschi   268
    2   Al_Pacino   261
    3   Del1962   253
    4   Skidmark   224

Mutschi not only has Fernandez and Ewan, but also Howson, Hepburn, Dillier and Boswell.
AlPacino took second this month despite not having the month's top scorer: Ewan, Sepulveda, Formolo and Bonifazio gaining him most of his points.
The only team missing Ewan didn't do too badly: Del1962 came 3rd in the month, mainly through Fernandez and Sepulveda.

Formolo has been an important scorer throughout the game, and is the second top player to have been selected (behind Adam Yates), Bonifazio and Dillier swap 4th and 5th place in the 13 months of the game to date, and Sepulveda and Fernandez  enter the top 15.

There are not many changes in the overall ranking: although he was a fairly modest 9th in the monthly table, GP Blanco is the most significant mover, up 5 places to 6th.  There is no movement among the top 5

    February Year 2

Bonifazio, with his Lugano win and third in Estruchi, is not only the top selected rider this month, but has overtaken Adam Yates as the most valuable player in the game.

    Top selected riders this month:
    (Name/points/teams)
    BONIFAZIO Niccolo   180   4
SEPULVEDA Eduardo   88   5  (Sud Ardeche win, and a few Haut Var points)
JARAMILLO DIEZ Daniel Alexander   60   1 (2nd in nationals)
GOUGEARD Alexis   56   8 (4th in Etile de Besseges)
HOWSON DAMIEN   55   30 (mainly Herald Sun Tour)
EWAN Caleb   50   44 (2 stage wins and a second in Herald Sun)
KONRAD Patrick   44   5 (10th in Oman GC)
    LATOUR Pierre-Roger   40   4 (Etoile de Besseges)
    STUYVEN Jasper   34   36
    JANS Roy   31   1

    Best teams this month

    1   Al_Pacino   510
    2   Fauniera   413
    3   Jakob747   384
    4   Ruudz0r   334
    5   Ludwigzgz   320
    6   Skidmark   308
    7   Del1962   303
    8   GPBlanco   269
    9   Dazed_and_Confused   266
    10   Leadbelly   256
    11   HugoKoblet   254
    12   Madrazo   242
    13   Search   239
    14   Rote_Laterne   233
    15   Ansimi   228
    16   Mutschi   222
    17   18Valve   221
    18   Comodoro   212
    19   Karaev   210
    20   Hilltop_Finisher   206
The top four, not surprisingly, all have Bonifazio.  Al Pacino has just about as good a team as possible: he also has Sepulveda, Gougeard, Howson and Ewan: that is first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth of the month's scorers.
Our long term leader, Ludwigzgz, is the top of the non-Bonifazio teams this month, so extends his lead yet again in the overall standings, but not by much, because the second highest scoring non-Bonifazio team is second placed Skidmark.  These two are beginning to leave the rest of us behind.

    Standings
Al Pacino was by a long way the biggest mover, but his 9 place leap only took him to 13th.  The same teams are still in the top ten, and of them the only teams moving up (2 places each) are GPBlanco and Rote Laterne.
    1   Ludwigzgz   4974
    2   Skidmark   4639
    3   HugoKoblet   4160
    4   GPBlanco   4060
    5   Blackbandit222   4015
    6   Karaev   3979
    7   Rote_Laterne   3977
    8   Froome19   3973
    9   Hilltop_Finisher   3952

    11   Ingsve   3898

    April Year 2

    Top rider scores
Julian Alaphilippe has given reason to believe that, out of the riders in the game, he may be the star of this batch, with 2 second places in classics.  He is in about 3/4 of the teams, but may be an omission fatal to the chances of many.  He not surprisingly dominates this month's table of rider scores.  Simon Yates, a more popular but as yet less fruitful pick than his brother, also scored highly mainly through his Pais Vasco performance.  The other 100 + scorers this month were far less popular selections: Fraile more than doubled his game score through the Pais Vasco mountains jersey and a win in the Giro del Appennino; Lampaert's top ten in Roubaix maintains his position as one of the top scorers in the game so far; Sepulveda's second place in Turkey was acheived in May, but is included in this round up, and gained value through the last stage DNF of a rider at the opposite end of the career spectrum; Vuillermoz reaped most of his points in the Fleche Wallonne; and Barbero's manager will be pleased with the range of points picked up from various races in a busy month.

Here are the top 11 for the month (11th very close to 10th, 12th some points adrift, hence the odd cut off)
    Rider April 2015 pts teams
    ALAPHILIPPE Julian   413   35
    YATES Simon   257   42
    FRAILE MATARRANZ Omar   160   1
    LAMPAERT Yves   156   3
    SEPULVEDA Eduardo   135   5
    VUILLERMOZ Alexis   123   1
    BARBERO CUESTA Carlos   122   2
    EWAN Caleb   95   44
    VALLEE Boris   92   3
    DE BIE Sean   79   12
    SENECHAL Florian   75   23

    Team points this month
The top 4 riders in terms of popularity yielded over 800 points between them this month, so most teams scored fairly high.  But the honours for the second month in a row go to Skidmark, with Sepulveda and Lampaert making most of his distinction from the hoi poloi.  Ludwigzgz is a close second, with rare picks Vuillermoz and Barbero coming up trumps.

    Current ranking
The top two at the beginning of the month were the top two during the month: is it already a two horse race, with them standing about 1000 points clear of the field.  The third best score this month launches MCMountain into the top ten, in his second successive month as highest riser, and Ingsve and Comodoro slip into that vaunted company as well, as Hilltop Finisher, and more dramatically Froome19 and Al Pacino, yield their status there.

    July of year 2
although the defining result of this update actually occurred on 2nd August, when the eventual pictures from San Sebastian showed Adam Yates descending alone to victory. Those 220 points are the highest one day spoils in the game so far, and make the second most popular Yates twin the second highest total scorer in the game (behind Alaphilippe)

YATES Adam   252   27 teams (San Sebastian win plus TdF top tens and finish)
VUILLERMOZ Alexis   191   1 team (Ludwigzgz; a win and a third on the Tour's two Murs, and 67 points for 26th in GC)
CAMPENAERTS Victor   152   2 teams (ItalianGigolo, NairoQ; 2nd in Tour de Wallonie)
HIRT Jan   141   2 teams (Blackbandit222, Dazed and Confused; 3rd in GC and stage points in Österreich-Rundfahrt)
    VALLEE Boris   73   3 teams (Fus87, NairoQ, Ray200: 6th in Wallonie)
LATOUR Pierre   70   4 teams (ItalianGigolo, mc_mountain, Mellow Velo, The Fool on the Hill: 7th overall in Austria)
ALAPHILIPPE Julian   58   35 teams (8th in San Sebastian)
POLJANSKI Pawel   55   1 team  (Flo, 9th in Austria)
KOSHEVOY Ilia   55   1 team (Hilltop Finisher: stage win and 13th overall in Qinghai Lake)
YATES Simon   51   42 teams (TdF finish and minor stage points, top 15 in San Seb)

    Monthly scores:
Long term leader Ludwigzgz is yet again the top monthy scorer.
1   Ludwigzgz   692  (both Yates, Vuillermoz and Alaphilippe)
2   NairoQ   659 (both Yates, Campenaerts and Alaphilippe)
3   ItalianGigolo   650  (both Yates, Campenaerts and Alaphilippe)

Partly in the interest of trying to give Ludwigzgz a bit of competition, and partly through the realisation of some of the talent that we all managed to miss, I introduce the "Collective Ignorance" selection, to counterbalance our "Collective Wisdom" squad.  While the latter is made up of the riders chosen by most of us, this new squad, whose membership might vary, is made up of the highest scoring eligible riders that we all overlooked.  And what a collective failure it was:
    THEUNS Edward   1108
    BENOOT Tiesj   781
    ROGLIC Primoz   688
    DEMOITIE Antoine   544
    NAESEN Oliver   462
    PARRINELLO Antonino Casimiro   425
    GRADEK Kamil   416
    BEVIN Patrick   414
    SHALUNOV Evgeny   401
    TEUNS Dylan   401
    BERNAS Pawel   387
    TVETCOV Serghei   386
    BARBIER Rudy   381
    TULIK Angelo   372
    DAVIDENOK Ilya   372
    TORRES AGUDELO Rodolfo Andres   363
    MÜHLBERGER Gregor   359
    CANOLA Marco   344
    Total:  8604

Ludwigzgz still beats that team, but no-one else does, and if it had not been for his unique pick, Vuillermoz would also be in the collective ignorance squad.

    August year 2
For the first time since February, no rider got above 200 points in the month, but there are still some noteworthy performances gaining 100+.  I tweaked the spreadsheet such that I can now frustrate all of us over the high scoring eligible riders, not just the ones that someone else picked.

LATOUR Pierre   198   4 teams (good results in Burgos and Tour de l'Ain)
DILLIER Silvan   170   7 teams (2nd in GC and a stage win in Arctic Race)

September and first half of October, year 2
Firstly, an apology.  Early October did not pass smoothly, so I ended up thinking I would wait and do a joint September/October update, but then it turned out that there has been no downloadable update since 18 October.  So you have waited until 3 November to find out the state of play on 18 October.

So what happened in the 6 weeks to this stage of being a year before the end of the game?

    Points earned
Lots of points for those we did not pick, including Olivier Pardini who seems to be having his emergence at 30 years of age.
JANS Roy   261   1  team (unique pick for Vladimir, top5s in Brussels, GP d'Isbergues, Munsterland, Paris-Tours, and other decent results)
GOUGEARD Alexis   248   8  teams (A stage win in the Vuelta, and Eurometropole)
YATES Adam   232   27  teams  (2nd in Montreal and in Tour of Alberta)
    PRADES REVERTER Eduard   199   0
    BENOOT Tiesj   175   0

DE BIE Sean   170   12  teams  (win in Impanis-Van Petegem)
    FEDI Andrea   156   0
    MARINI Nicolas   155   0
    GERTS Floris   140   0
    PARDINI Olivier   139   0

VUILLERMOZ Alexis   137   1  team  (Ludwigzgz' not-now-so-secret weapon: significant enough placings at Montreal, Languedoc-Rousillon and Lombardia to get these points)
    STACCHIOTTI Riccardo   130   0
    LAPORTE Christophe   127   0
    THEUNS Edward   125   0
    DOULL Owain   125   0
    ARIESEN Johim   116   0

VERONA QUINTANILLA Carlos   115   5  teams  (not very high placings, but Vuelta and Lombardia are races with high point yields)
    CLAEYS Dimitri   112   0

LAMPAERT Yves   105   3  teams  (6th in Paris-Tours, and part of the Etixx WC TTT team)
    SPRENGERS Thomas   101   0
    BIALOBLOCKI Marcin   101   0

    Team Points won
Having the top scorer as a unique pick did not do Vladimir much good: he still came 37th this month, mainly because most of Yates' 27 teams had more successful minor scorers.  Del1962, Mutschi, Ludwigzgz, and Leadbelly combine Gougeard and A Yates, De Bie and Gougeard both featured in the teams of Hugo Koblet and Madrazo, while Cyivel, Fus87, Ingsve, Kazistuta, NairoQ and Tuarts all put De Bie and Adam Yates together.

    Standings
Another high placing in the monthly table, another extension to Ludwigzgz' lead.  The top two end the season as they started it, and it is increasingly hard to see their choices of nearly 2 years ago being surpassed.  Hugo Koblet consolidates his second place, Tuart sneaks into the top ten, and Mutschi's 9 place rise is the greatest change.

    End of Year 2
Not much scoring since mid-October, but there have been some gains.

KOZHATAYEV Bakhtiyar   62pts   1 team (7th overall in Tour of Hainan for Froome19)
SILVESTRE Fabio Andre Tomas   25pts   4 teams (stage points in Hainan for Comodoro, Dazed and Confused, Florecita and Oliveira)
KOLAHDOUZ HAGH Amir   12pts   2 teams (I'll be honest, I hadn't heard of the Tours of Singkarak and Fuzhou, but they still give points to Fauniera and Geraint Too Fast)
FOMINYKH Daniil   9pts   3 teams (Hainan again, for Bellsax, Cyivel and Rote Laterne)
CERNY Josef   5pts   1 team (The Fool on the Hill also gains from Hainan)

So for the end of Year 2, Froome19 moves up two places, and Comodoro up 1 (18Valve and Del1962 yielding)

    1   Ludwigzgz   10305
    2   Skidmark   9694
    3   HugoKoblet   8838
    4   Rote_Laterne   8661
    5   MC_Mountain   8648
    6   Blackbandit222   8372

    45   Josedin   4678
       CollectiveWisdom   8009
       Collective Ignorance   10313

Although he was a popular pick for the game that started a year later, no-one spotted Jakub Marezco two years ago, but his domination of the Tour of Taihu Lake (and a decent haul in Hainan) lifts him into the Collective ignorance team, and that helped that fluctuating group to move ahead of Ludwigzgz.

If we look at the current game points of those who are in the Collective Wisdom team (all in at least 1/3 of teams), we can see the varying level of successes of those who were most hyped 24 months ago:
    YATES Adam   1261
    ALAPHILIPPE Julian   1184
    FORMOLO Davide   946
    EWAN Caleb   811
    YATES Simon   750
    SENECHAL Florian   428
    KUDUS GHEBREMEDHIN Merhawi   372
    HENAO GOMEZ Sebastian   345
    STUYVEN Jasper   318
    HEPBURN Michael   304
    HERKLOTZ Silvio   259
    ZABEL Rick   233
    HANSEN Lasse Norman   233
    HOWSON DAMIEN   176
    EDMONDSON Joshua   175
    MOHORIC Matej   152
    LUDVIGSSON Fredrik   57
    ZORDAN Andrea   5

How will that inform your submissions for the 2016-18 game?

Just trying to remember how I built the list of eligible names (dealing with name changes is the tricky bit).
Launching post soon, I hope, but if you want to get on with it, rules are unchanged and closing date is end of January.

Although it may be useful for you to have a limit on the number of people submitting a team with riders that are ineligible, if its too tricky to make the list I dont think it is unreasonable for the players of the game to work out if a rider is eligible.

Subrankings on CQ you can put in less than or equal to 199 and then born equal or later than and then check a rider's page which you're likely to do anyway when considering them to see if they're over 199 for their career -  there will also be riders coming from the junior ranks that might be worth selecting that wont necessarily have a CQ page anyway.

    Thanks

If the rules are unchanged that is good, I can do my own checking, also I have a spreadsheet that checks less than 200 points since 2013 (which I will use while checking on CQ before a pick anyway)

    The final circuit begins:
    Year 3, month 1

Those who were beginning to emerge two years ago, or at least those who have done what was hoped of them, are becoming established contenders in many races: year three scores for many riders ought to be well over the total of years one and two: only the very best and very worst of those in the game don't have the potential to return such a score.
Scores like those for this month would have been thought significant in year 1 in any month: our riders are now at the stage when it is not much more than a warm up for the season.

Best scoring riders selected for the game this month

If Skidmark continues to chip away at the lead by 60-odd every month, as he has in January, it will be very tight by the end of the year.  Monthly top scorer MC Mountain moves back into the podium positions.  The biggest riser of the month is Del1962, who rises 5 places despite being the only team to lack Caleb Ewan,  with Sepulveda and Fernandez making up for that oversight.

    February Year 3(to 28th Feb)

Big results for two of our riders this month, but by now, the best of those who were emerging are beginning to hold their own among the big boys.  At least, some of them are. Four of the five biggest scorers this month have matched, or at least got very close to, last year's total already  (Avila has exceeded his previous game total across 2 years).  Perhaps that gives hope to the teams who have riders that have not really shone yet.

VAKOC Petr   303pts   6 teams (5th in Haut Var, 2nd in La Provence, then wins in Drome and Sud Ardeche)
STUYVEN Jasper   175   36 (9thin Omloop, then that powerful KBK win)
AVILA VANEGAS Edwin Alcibiades   100   1 (Nat champ)
DILLIER Silvan   94   7 (4th in Dubai GC)
HOWSON DAMIEN   76   30 (3rd in Herald Sun Tour)
LATOUR Pierre   66   4 (7th in Bessege GC, 10th in Laigueglia)
BONIFAZIO Niccolo   58   4 (6th in Omloop, and stage points in Herald Sun Tour)
KUDUS GHEBREMEDHIN Merhawi   55   18 (9th in Oman GC)
    GOUGEARD Alexis   54   7 (5th in Omloop)
YATES Adam   52   27 ( lower top ten in Drome and Sud Ardeche)
HAIG Jack   50   2 (5th in Herald Sun Tour)
Fedi (176 February points) and Calmejean (126) top the scores among those we could have chosen but didn't.

    Points gained

1   HugoKoblet   714 (Vakoc, Stuven, Howson & Gougeard)
2   Cyivel   701  (Vakoc, Stuven, Howson & Yates)

    Standings
Mediocre performances for the top two (but they still got more than twice my score), but Hugo steps up to the podium, and Karaev has a 5 place improvement to get into the top ten.
