Update #24: Few points from the Tour de Suisse

The main race of the week has been the Tour de Suisse, but not so many points were assigned thanks to that race. Wonderlance wins the week but thanks to the popular Gilbert and the rare Tom Doumulin. At the second place we have HelgeBlendet that has a really good pick like Formolo. At the lowest place of the podium there is Grimm that has Sagan which scores always good point in Switzerland.

    This Week's Top Scorers
    1   WonderLance   566
    2   HelgeBlendet   487
    3   Grimm   486
    4   Yellow Knight   446
    5   tomazo   435

    This Week's High Jumpers
    1   WonderLance   (+24)
    2   Grimm   (+17)
    3   the_fool_on_the_hill   (+15)
    4   vladimir   (+13)
    5   HelgeBlendet   (+12)

Wonderlance is even at the top of the high jumpers and as well we find Grimm and HelgeBlendet, plus the_fool_on_the_hill and vladimir.

    Top 10 Overall
    1   (-)   Geraint Too Fast   8215   57
    2   (+2)   freshman   8197   344
    3   (-)   MCardinalR   8164   149
    4   (-2)   Milanello   8144   103
    5   (+2)   Pentacycle   7998   380
    6   (-1)   Cykeltyven   7960   122
    7   (-1)   rywann   7927   189
    8   (+3)   minessa   7806   279
    9   (-)   just some guy   7800   226
    10   (-2)   The Hitch   7765   168

The top10 is really short so we have often a lot of changes. Freshman is really close to the leader Geraint Too Fast. Milanello has lost two positions, like The Hitch. A new entry this week: minessa that make a +3, while Oliveira is out of the top 10.

Thought I'd do some post-Giro thoughts about my team.

EBH - Not looking good for Eddy. Probably will get more point scoring opportunities if he avoids the TdF and has a good run at Eneco, GP Plouay, Montreal and Quebec. Fingers crossed.

Chernetskiy - My "make up the total points to 7500" pick. I'm hoping Purito decides to do the TdF and Sergei is the one to miss out otherwise I could be taking a big hit here. Much better chance of points to be made in Austria and Poland.

Looks like I get my wish about Chernetskiy not going to the TdF.  :cool

Eddy however could be a lost cause. He'll have to make a speedy recovery from this achilles injury and then hit those races I mentioned above. Fingers and now toes crossed.

    Hi LaVelocipede :welcome
Hope you enjoy your time on Velorooms.

This game is unfortunately a year round game which requires one submission right at the beginning of the year...

However, the good news is that there is a version of this game which is purely based around the Tour. Details are here: http://velorooms.com/index.php?topic=5858.0

Update #25: Better late than never

With TeoSheva busy at the moment, I will do the update this week. Better get used to it since I will cover the Tour de France too. The week during which are held most national championships is probably the week when the most races awarding CQ points are ridden. This mean that many team scored through a number of different riders, while no one rider really stood out. Somar13 is this week top scorer, relying mainly on Démare, Kennaugh, Bole and Keizer for the point scoring. Nicosix main point scorer was also Démare while Londonpat and Slow_rider's main man was Langeveld. Izaguirre was a rare pick that pushed Afrank up to 5th on the list.

    This Week's Top Scorers
    1 Somar13   684
    2 Slow_Rider   627
    3 Nicosix   616
    4 Londonpat   581
    5 Afrank   559

As it so often is the case, the week high jumpers list is dominated by the week's top scorer. Somar13 leads both lists, improving by no less than 24 places. In fact, 4 of the 5 high jumpers already featured on the week's top scorer list. The only 'intruder' is LaFlorecita, which was actually the 7th best scorer this week. She scored 545 points from a variety of riders, Kennaugh being her best rider of the week with a big round 100 points.

    This Week's High Jumpers
    1 Somar13    (+24)
    2 Slow_Rider    (+17)
    3 Londonpat    (+14)
    4 Afrank    (+13)
    5 LaFlorecita    (+13)

The top 10 teams were pretty quiet this week, not scoring much. Enough was scored for one major change though. freshman wrestles the lead from Geraint Too Fast for a mere 4 points. With MCardinalR and Milanello hovering very close, the game is delicately balance before this small bike race in France you may or may not have heard about. minessa and just some guy leave the top 10 making way to Oliveira and Ferminal.

    Top 10 Overall
    1   freshman   8484
    2   Geraint Too Fast   8480
    3   MCardinalR   8403
    4   Milanello   8402
    5   Pentacycle   8298
    6   Cykeltyven   8263
    7   rywann   8242
    8   The Hitch   8069

    Evans is best update

With the Tour de France having just gotten underway and the Tour of Austria in its early stages too, it has been a pretty low key week for most. However with popular picks (Dayer Quintana, Peter Kennaugh) going strong in Austria, the next update promises to be more exciting. The two teams with Kittel unsurprisingly top the best scorers list, with coinneach barely edging out bicing. The fact of that the week's topscorer managed only 224 points is probably the best evidence that this update is hardly decisive. The teams having placed their faith in Sagan : Grimm, Trudgin, Hugo87 in that order round up the top five.

    1   coinneach   224
    2   bicing   221
    3   Grimm   180
    4   Trudgin   150
    5   Hugo87   140

Grimm jumps eleven places to become the week's highest jumper. Bicing also appears on both lists, while R_O_Shipman and Londonpat gain 8 and 7 places respectively. Last year champion, SteelyDan, is fifth courtesy of points from Kwiatkowski and Kennaugh.

    1   Grimm   (+11)
    2   bicing   (+8)
    3   R_O_Shipman   (+8)
    4   Londonpat   (+7)
    5   SteelyDan   (+5)

The top 10 remains unchanged this week. Freshman and Geraint Too Fast have scored the exact same amount of points (35) , therefore freshman retains his slim four points advantage. Milanello is closing the gap though. With so little happening this week, it's as good a time as any to look at the progress of the collective wisdom team. It is actually going rather well, since it would rank in 14th position with 7957 points. That results has to be tempered by the fact that at a cost of 7551 points it would have been slightly overbudget.

    1   freshman   8519
    2   Geraint Too Fast   8515
    3   Milanello   8478
    4   MCardinalR   8405
    5   Pentacycle   8348
    6   rywann   8277
    7   Cykeltyven   8263
    8   The Hitch   8110
    9   Oliveira   8097
    10   Ferminal   8072

    dowload, hopefully

Update #29 : The Tour doesn't climb to the Giro's height

The Giro, this year proved very successful with many popular picks performing extremely well. However, with many GC favorites crashing out of contention in France, everybody struggled to repeat the success of the Giro. auto de fé is the highest scorer this week. Despite Contador not finishing the race, with Pinot, König and Trofimov also featuring on his team he manages to score an impressive 1013 points, but that's not even half of what the top scorer managed in the Giro update. Eyeballs Out is the only other person to break the thousand points barrier thanks mainly to Majka and Pinot. Yoyokt, fourth highest scorer this week, also relies mainly on Pinot. Meanwhile, the two Péraud teams : *Falze* and PeterB complete the top five.

    This Week's Top Scorers
    1   auto de fé   1013
    2   Eyeballs Out   1009
    3   *Falze*   935
    4   yoyokt   888
    5   PeterB   881

Eyeballs Out edges out auto de fé for highest jumper of the week. With respectively 39 and 37 places gained, they both have reasons to be excited. Crevaison, Armchair Cyclist and yoyokt are all tied for third with a 28 place jump and can also be pleased with their week. More significantly, all five of theses teams feature Pinot and they are all in the top eight highest scorers, so once again both lists are pretty similar.

    This Week's High Jumpers
    1   Eyeballs Out   (+39)
    2   auto de fé   (+37)
    3   yoyokt   (+28)
    3   Crevaison   (+28)
    3   Armchair cyclist   (+28)

Unsurprisingly, the top ten is completely different to the top ten of the previous update. Pentacycle rises back to the top spot thanks to some inspired picks such as Navardauskas and Bardet alongside the more popular Kruijswijk and Van den Broeck. The Hitch, a perennial presence near the top of the table year after year, is now second. Thibaut Pinot was the main architect of his rise but Adam Yates, the gift that keeps on giving, and Jurgen Van den Broeck were also key. Despite, Contador's withdrawal, MCardinalR clinches the last spot on the podium due to König's insprired performances in France (and also Van den Broeck). *Falze* is one of only two people to have Péraud. With Zubeldia eigth and Van den Broeck also high up in the GC, it's therefore no surprise that Falze jumps from 21st to 4th. freshman and Geraint Too Fast are both down three places to 5th and 6th respectively. König, Rolland, Navardauskas, Van den Broeck and Kruijswijk to help just some guy come back into the top ten, in seventh place to be exact. Milanello, the former leader plummets down to eigth, while Cykeltyven somehow manages to stay in the same spot. PeterB, the other team with Péraud, rouns up this new top ten.

    Top 10 Overall
    1   Pentacycle   9297
    2   The Hitch   9273
    3   MCardinalR   8977
    4   *Falze*   8968
    5   freshman   8921
    6   Geraint Too Fast   8894
    7   just some guy   8872
    8   Milanello   8856
    9   Cykeltyven   8830
    10   PeterB   8829

    Spreadsheet at Mediafire

With this week being by far the most important of the month, the monthly highscorers and highjumpers lists are, as expected, fairly similar to this week's so I won't bore you with the details.

    This Month's Top Scorers
    1   yoyokt   1477
    2   Eyeballs Out   1335
    3   Grimm   1327
    4   Manafana   1303
    5   auto de fé   1294

    This Month's High Jumpers
    1   Grimm    (+43)
    1   Eyeballs Out   (+43)
    3   yoyokt   (+38)
    3   Manafana   (+38)
    5   Zuremelk   (+36)

...and on a personal level I'm nearly into profit.  :)

According to my guess-timations we are ~69% of the way through the season now, so time for a Post-Tour update on Team Leadbelly.

Despite the fact I'm nearly at the 7500 mark, my number of riders in profit has only increased from nine to thirteen since the Giro. On the other hand the number of slackers (riders with % below the % of season completed) has dropped from fifteen to thirteen.

EBH (33%) and Chernetskiy (46%) remain high cost problem cases, but Konig delivered when he needed to and is now in profit.

Riders in need of a real slap include Dombrowski (10%), Madrazo (30%) and Rosa (35%).

Unfortunately I have a few too many of those same duds too. Plus a few others(Goss, Moser and the Colombian pie eating machine Betancur).

    GTF update

Update #30: Not a flat week for Crevaison

With most teams suffering a bit of a post-TDF hangover, Crevaison took advantage to top the High Scorer & High Mover charts this week. Lotto-Belisol teammates Gallopin and Vanendert's exploits in San Sebastian account for the majority of his points, but there were also significant contributions from Mondory, Turgot, and unique pick Duchesne. Gianni Meersman single-handedly scored more than most teams in this update, and one of only two people who picked him, olafjt, is the closest challenger to Crevasion this week.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    1. Crevaison 336
    2. olafjt 312
    3. Blues in the bottle 311
    4. MADRAZO 251
    5. Maaaaaaaarten 249

    This Week's High Movers

    1. Crevaison (+13)
    2. Blues in the bottle (+10)
    2. MADRAZO (+10)
    4. Maaaaaaaarten (+9)
    5. Froome19 (+7)

No new names in the Top 10 this week, just a bit of reshuffling. Pentacycle still leads, while PeterB is the biggest beneficiary of CQ's decision to include the points from Stage 2 of Tour de Pologne in this update.

    Top 10 Overall
    1. (-) Pentacycle 9452
    2. (-) The Hitch 9381
    3. (+1) *Falze* 9133
    4. (-1) MCardinalR 9099
    5. (-) freshman 9060
    6. (+4) PeterB 8967
    7. (+2) Cykeltyven 8946
    8. (-2) Geraint Too Fast 8942
    9. (-2) just some guy 8904
    10. (-2) Milanello 8881

Update #31: Danish Domination from martinaagard

There is quite a strong Danish feel to martinaagard's team so he was probably expecting to do well in the update after Post Danmark Rundt, but maybe not quite this well? His team features the race winner (Michael Valgren), 3rd and 4th overall (Boaro and Lutsenko - who both won stages as well), along with as  Breschel, Quaade & Jørgensen for some minor stage/GC placings. And to top it all off, his team also contains Rafal Majka - the double stage winner and overall victor of Tour de Pologne. So it's no surprise that martinaagard leaves everybody trailing in his wake this week.
Leading the pack behind him is gustienordic, who's scoring was a bit more diverse. Along with good results in Poland and Denmark (and the Netherlands, because Guardini's points from stage 1 of the Eneco Tour are included in this update), gustienordic also benifited from Anacona's strong showing in Utah and a great RideLondon Classic where he picked up 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, thanks too Swift, Alaphillipe, and Gilbert respectively.
Martinaagard and gustienordic both feature strongly in the high movers chart as well, with only Eyeballs Out (the 3rd highest scoring team this week) able to seperate them.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    1.   martinaagard   861
    2.   gustienordic   648
    3.   Eyeballs Out   595
    4.   ironted   557
    5.   knallertjeblaf   545

    This Week's High Movers

    1.   martinaagard   (+25)
    2.   Eyeballs Out   (+24)
    3.   gustienordic   (+18)
    4.   Handbrake   (+17)
    5.   Skibby the bush kangaroo   (+16)
    5.   adamski101   (+16)

The overall top 3 is unchanged this week. PeterB continues his upward momentum of recent weeks by climbing to 4th, and there are two new/re-entries in the top 10 - minessa and Slow_Rider replace just some guy and Milanello.

    Top 10 Overall[/u]

    1.   (-)   Pentacycle   9691
    2.   (-)   The Hitch   9623
    3.   (-)   *Falze*   9469
    4.   (+2)   PeterB   9409
    5.   (-)   freshman   9393
