IMO there aren't many teams who should consider him, either that or he'd take a massive pay cut. Looking at Lotto/Garmin/Belkin/Cannondale, though there will probably be others stupid enough.

EBH to Astana is my best guess, why you ask? Because Astana needs to learn more about marginal gains. Contador received inside knowledge this year, and look how he is riding. If Nibali isn't close to winning at the Tour Astana will think about bringing in a former Sky employee to learn from what they have done.

    I do not mind that

Peiper knows EBH , so knows what he needs, I assume Thor will be gone or be a leader on the road, not sure he has that in him, but who knows.

Good younger replacement for Ballan, just needs Peipers magic,

re BMC the big one is what Evans does or they do,

So who are Sky going to sign with the budget?

My money is on some Italian as they are under-represented on the Team given the Italian shareholding and sponsorship:

    - I would like to see a Road Captain replacement for Rogers, but given the Italian veterans past associations it might be difficult to find a "clean-one" with no history;

    - other than that a young rider who can add something to the Classics team and add something in the Giro (Aru, Modol, Nizzolo, Battaglin, Formolo)

The Italian people / fans favourite would be Pozzato, but again I don't think he would pass the due diligence test....

EBH to BMC is perfect for both parties. I hope he'll get the right kind of support to become a danger man in attacks and sprints again, rather than a domestique for GC riders.

re BMC the big one is what Evans does or they do,

I imagine Evans is still on a pretty big wage. Should he leave or retire, that frees up a lot of room for some younger GC rider(s) who they can help develop. The very top GC riders all seem to be taken anyway: Nibali, Froome, Quintana, Contador - unless to Alonso - don't seem to be going anywhere. So perhaps a Garmin-like approach to have a few young GC riders, in addition to Van Garderen? I still love the idea of some of the Dutch GC guys riding there: Mollema would be perfect, perhaps Peiper can get something out of Gesink.

So who are Sky going to sign with the budget?

Sky have been interested in Langeveld, which nearly happened until some issues came up and Garmin moved faster. So that makes me think they're still in for some classics riders with some experience. Perhaps they'll go after one of the OPQS guys? Vandenbergh, Stybar, even Terpstra? Or Trentin, to continue the Italian link - though he wouldn't be a leader probably.

If the EBH story is true, does that mean BMC won't be an option for Sagan?

I don't know what their contracts situations are like, but if Sky are after Italians they could do a lot worse than signing Oss - extra option on the cobbles and a good all-rounder, or even someone like De Marchi - he does a lot of impressive work.

there's an interview with Bouhanni in l'Equipe today, he hasn't completely ruled out to stay with FDJ, and it's "not about money", but he wants 1 million a year and "will not sign for the half of it" ;)

JSG saying Evans in the shoutbox. Twitter telling Tour de Jose it will be Porte. Rui Costa's name also mentioned (although - I think - less likely).

Meanwhile, Cookson and co. are wondering how anybody can announce anything before August given that no-one can sign a contract until then.

I'll also make the sarcastic point that - as of this Giro - even Sebastien Henao is a "Grand Tour rider". So we haven't really narrowed down the field too much. Orica are going to sign a "rider". Bully for them...

Porte would be the logical choice. Doesn't his #sky contract run out after this season?

While there is some merit to this point, I don't think it's that bad.
Of course, their definition of a "GT rider" may well differ from that of the general public. Maybe the objective is simply to reach the top-20, and they're signing Francis de Greef or Yoann Bagot. ;)

    We have Wiggo
    Evans
Porte ( has contract for 2015 fwiw )

as we have already discussed, now add

    D Martin
    G-Train
    LTD
    Gesink
    M Frank

    http://www.sbs.com.au/cyclingcentral/al-hinds/blog/129010/finding-the-right-fit
