  • Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

The clue is in the name:  Driedaagse, three days, not a one-day classic.  Sorry.

6th place in GP Indurain for Hesjedal, a unique pick for Search which means he now has all 12 of his team off the mark.

Probably few other points today: tomorrow should be rather more significant,

Later edit: Fewer than few other points: none at all.  28 points and a jump from 28th to 23rd for Search, nothing else.

    Scores from Paris-Roubaix:

I just had a look and according to my calculations this is the prefect team so far, after the cobbled classics are over:

    RIDER TEAM PRICE POINTS
    TERPSTRA Niki      #opqs      821      706
    VANMARCKE Sep      #belkin      491      554
    BOONEN Tom      #opqs      139      370
    VANDENBERGH Stijn      #opqs      277      302
    COLBRELLI Sonny      #bardiani      276      220
    LANGEVELD Sebastian      #garmin      364      208
    BENNETT Sam      #netappendura      121      174
    SWIFT Ben      #sky      158      145
    APPOLLONIO Davide      #ag2r      98      109
    PUCCIO Salvatore      #sky      92      96
    BILBAO Pello      #cajarural      105      80
    PARRINELLO Antonino      #androni      50      46
                2992      3010

I did that manually, so there might be some room for improvement

+ LECHUGA RODRIGUEZ Pablo, 0 last year, 10 points in Murcia this year.  Impressed that you didn't include Trusov though, who shows up as 0 points last year on my spreadsheet as he was transliterated with a double S by CQ in 2013.

yeh, I was irritated about him apparently being a 0 pointer and therefor checked all of them

...and accidentally deleted LECHUGA, didn't see that his 20 points score was from 2012

6th place is more than 100 points clear of 7th: 7th is nearly 400 points behind the leader.
If we are to assume that the podium is to be decided among the 6 man head-of-the-race group, who is based equipped for the final hills?

1   Josedin   1897  (Vanendert Jelle, VANSPEYBROECK Pieter)
2   Madrazo   1797  (IGLINSKIY Maxim, HAYMAN Mathew, VANENDERT Jelle, GERDEMANN Linus)
3   asdfgh101   1768 (MILLAR David, VANENDERT Jelle, FERNANDEZ ANDUJAR Ruben)
4   Karlboss   1710 (HAYMAN Mathew, VANENDERT Jelle, MONDORY Lloyd, BRAMBILLA Gianluca, CHAVES RUBIO Jhoan Esteban, VIENNET Emilien)
5   DJSprtsch   1644 (GESCHKE Simon, KEUKELEIRE Jens, VANENDERT Jelle, JARC Blaz, AMADOR BIKKAZAKOVA Andrey, ZINGLE Romain)
6   Jakob747   1613 (DANIEL Maxime, JANSE VAN RENSBURG Reinardt, KEUKELEIRE Jens, SINKELDAM Ramon, VANENDERT Jelle, VIENNET Emilien, ZORDAN Andrea)

Whatever Jelle Vanendert does or fails to do will clearly be pretty irrelevant.
While the presence of a recent Liège - Bastogne - Liège winner is not to be sniffed at, I think Josedin is likely to hang on, but Madrazo will, I suspect, consolidate second place.  I believe that Karlboss might have enough in his squad to grab third.

The top scorer with Phil Gil in the team is yours truly, but at 650 shy of the podium, he is not going to make the difference.

apparently Stybar will do Brabantse Pijl and AGR, so that could make a difference. I think Madrazo is in the better position with Iglinskiy, although it's always a bit of a jeapardy with him.

IlPirata has a possible good team with Gerrans, Moser, Serry and Stybar, but he is propably too far down, same for the teams with Kwiatkowski

Of the top 6, Josedin. Madrazo and Jakob have Stybar, so any points he gets would simply extend the lead of the top two, without causing any change to the gap between them.

Pirata may indeed have a good Ardennes team, but at 516 points away from the podium, his ambitions must be limited by this stage.

Best team with Betancur (although it seems little is now expected from him) is 18Valve in 13th; IlPirata (15th) as you mention is the best placed with either Gerrans or Moser; Kwiatkowski's highest team is 18th placed Karaev.

    Points from Brabantse Pijl

13 teams get 140 for Gilbert, 3 get 72 for Gallopin, 2 get 62 for Geschke and 1 gets 48 for Haas: various other loose change points were won, but 20 teams fail to score.

Let's get the minor race today out of the way first:  TroBro Leon

13 teams get 24 for Turgot, 2 get 20 for Jerome, 6 get 9 for Mondory (4 of which are combined with Turgot), and 2 get 5 points for Van Bilsen.  25 teams get nothing.

Karlboss rises 1 place to 4th, and NotRolfSorensen and Batchuba each move up 2 places, to 10th and 11th respectively.

The main points, however, for today came in the Amstel Gold.

The top 3 riders were all fairly popular:
13 teams have Gilbert (220 pts), 23 have Vanendert (132), and 6 have Gerrans (112).

    Various combinations were chosen:
Gilbert/Vanendert: AG, Evans is the Best, Kaziatuta, Dazed and Confused
    Gilbert/Gerrans: Oliveira, Just Some Guy
    Vanendert/Gerrans: IlPirata, Cyivel, Hilltop Finisher

But only one managed to select the whole podium: congratulations to Capt Cavman who has Gilbert, Vanendert and Gerrans.

Everyone who selected Gerrans picked one of the two riders to finish ahead of him.

Other point earners were Kwiatkowski (3 teams, 86 points), Geschke (2 teams, 76 pts), Gasparotto (1 team, 58 pts), Nordhaug (14pts for 2 teams) , Vorganov (8 pts, 1 team), Felline (6 pts, 1 point) and 21 five-pointers.

Perhaps inevitably, given that the leading teams spent most of their budgets on cobbled specialists, none of the high scorers in this race were in the top ten this morning. Just Some Guy, Batchuba and Oliveira break into the top ten;.NotRolfSorensen, Leadbelly and (rather dramatically leaving not only the top ten but the top twenty) RoteLanterne make space for them.

Not the big scoring day that we had last Sunday: Only Vanendert (76 points for 23 teams) and Gilbert (46 pts for 13 teams)  among those who got more than 5 points were on more than a handful of teams.  Main winners on the day were the three teams featuring Kwiatkowski, all of who also have Vanendert; they are followed by the 5 teams that link Vanendert and Gilbert, and then by the unique pick of Wout Poels, also in combination with Vanendert.

With one race left, this hasn't changed much at the top of the table.  Those in the top 6 all had scores within 10 points of each other today, so their positions are unchanged.  Evans is the Best enters the top 10 at 7th, but the rest of today's higher scorers are way down the table.

Josedin's lead looks secure: Madrazo would need a top 6 finisher who is not Vanendert in Liege, and it is hard to see that happening from among his squad.  There may be some shuffling in the minor positions, but my prediction of Karlboss for the podium is one I would probably retract.

    Looking at top 20 result,
*Cyivel looks to be top of the day,
*he, pirata and Oliveira might all have done enough to get into the top ten
*JSG might have nabbed a podium place (edit: Sorry, not quite. Geschke got enough points to preserve 3rd place for DJSprtsch)
    * and I believe Josedin and Madrazo remain 1st and 2nd, but there are many minor points to follow.
