"Replica" jersey sites...
« on: April 11, 2012, 13:22 »
I can imagine the response but I am always interested in getting a feel for people's opinions on the sort of sites that sell cycling jersies at amazing prices.

The big two that get discussed elsewhere are

www.monton-cycling.com and www.samewood.com

I have a Team Sky jersey that I got from Ebay and it is ok quality.

Of course there are a whole host of ethical and moralistic reasons not to buy from them, but I remember back in the 90's most bike shops used to sell kit that wasn't original and there was no uproar then...

I have no issue using them, i just cannot afford the price they charge for proper jerseys.

Tony and i were just discussing this on the photo thread (never one to stay on topic)

    He suggested monton as well.

I use MUPI and had a couple of issues but they are so cheap have just bought two new jerseys. I only use them for jerseys right now, prefer to get my shorts locally and not looked at anything else.

with Mupi, sizes were an issue. i am not a small bloke but XXL is just embarassing. but the main issue was i bought an XL sky jersey which fits and an XL saxo jersey which does not. they gave me the option to send back but the cost of posting back was the same as buying a new one.

Keep the saxo one on the unlikely chance that i actually lose weight.

Jimmy / Tony with sites like Monton have you bought shorts? or it is just jerseys.

Yes mate I bought bibs as well, sizes are ok with monton and you can ordered L Jersey with M shorts, just check shipping costs. I think they are thinking that we are not happy to wait 4 weeks (for free shipping) and they would offer you really expensive express air mail shipping (2 days or so), it should be clarified before purchase.
What I said earlier no big deal if worn out for 2 year, it cost 40 $ damn it 8)

Oh what the heck, I might go into Monton and place an order...

Although this product is still tempting me... how much of a sad loser would I look with my own name down the side...?

In Italy lots of guys ride local team jersey's or their clubs have sponsorships and that is what makes up their jerseys' more so than Pro Tour or Pro Conti Italian teams. You do get so team jersey's but not some much team outfits.

Edit meant to mention that most LBS who do racing bikes have their own Jerseys' and shorts that are cheaper than trade or team replicas

The monton website you have stated is not the official website. They just infringed Monton trademark and selling inferior cycling apparels. If you are careful enough, you would see that the contact email is free one and with no location and telephone on their website.
