OMG what a complete moron.  That is just a disaster waiting to happen ....  :fp

You know, it has become an annual thing, right? Apparently it's been going on for more than a few years now, I'm told. It certainly does seem a bit crazy, but I think doing downhill jumps like those are crazy even if no one is underneath!

    about Froome's hospital pictures

    https://www.twitter.com/JournalVelo/status/1157586545626484736
That looks a bit more like expected - instead of the one-legged trainer. I went back to the one-legged trainer vid to check the thigh scarring. Most of the thigh isn't visible, though - covered by shorts. With good healing, the injuries shouldn't be painful at this date with a little movement. There is a little scarring visible around the knee, but could be old - no telling.

What this photo DOES tell us, though, is that Ineos is taking the high-$$$$ route in recovery. The leg isn't in a cast - it's in a brace. Which means they are letting him out of the immobilization suit on occasion. This fits with the one-legged trainer video. It is interesting, though, that they have him in a neck brace here. OTOH, that could be for reasons other than vertebral injury - they could be using the neck brace to stabilize and keep the compound leg fracture under extension pressure - to keep the leg from compressing the bones during healing. Which the musculature will naturally tend to do. End up with the leg a tad shorter than before. Better if not, eh?

But, nah, that idea about the neck brace is probably rubbish. I don't see any accompanying restraint at the ankle.

Anyway, this is a LOT more like what I would expect to see after a compound femoral fracture, than one-legged training.

Ah a a a, like, omg, dude, I mean, like REALLY. OMFG.

I thought Taylor Phinney was a bit of a one-off, what with the spaced-out speech mannerisms. So otherworldly, dude. Totally. For real. But no, it appears that val-speak has survived. It got together with a touch of late 60's "hippie" culture, and some surfer speak, and took root in a Colorado subculture. This is not a tweet, but it is certainly "noteworthy and/or frivolous".

Listen to the TJ Eisenhart interview, and be prepared to take a mental journey and get blown away.

Listen to the TJ Eisenhart interview...

No need. The "Boulder Dude" already has a well established place in anthropological studies.
(And Taylor's take on it, with all the annoying affectations, is particularly off-putting. I can't stand any interviews with him. I'm guessing TJ isn't much more palatable.)

He may talk the hippy talk, but judging by the number of hashtags and tweets he does about LIV Watches and Monster Hydro, he doesn't completely walk the hippy walk.

Funny thing, that. I find those interviews amazingly tedious. And grating.

I am a bit biased but *no is doing great in the Tour de l’Avenir, and it is a solid team effort. As experienced by *hu Barnabas Peak:

Laurent Jalabert won in his age group aswell.

I know that Jalabert has been in this game for a number of years, but I had no idea that Vino even trained in the various disciplines.

(This has got to sting for a certain other former-pro-rider-turned-iron-man who's no longer to allowed to compete.)
     :-x
    ------------------------

Just taking a closer look at all this now.
It's a totally BS claim from an Official Team Twitter account.  :secretlol

Vino was 92nd overall. His "1st Place" was strictly in the amateur 45-49 division.
    04:28:47

Jaja was 171st overall. He won the 50-54 division. Not all that far off his younger ex-peloton comrade though.

    I had missed this one.

Another result from the Vuelta Stage 14 crash.  :o

    And yet he carried on!

    Stage 15 overall:

    It's not unheard of.
Sadly, the 'big' teams (and their riders) often display an attitude towards smaller teams and less-known riders of pretty much "get the flip out of the way when the real guys are coming, you peasants".
