    Okay Heather look

    Alberto @ 2543 yes he won't improve by much

    BUT

    I checked my teams in previous years, and I noticed that I always have half a dozen guys between 250 and 500 roughly

    And most of them have a fail year.. like last year for me:

    Styby 645 -> 646
    Darwin Atapuma 362 -> 102
    Moser 353 -->87
    Reinardt 302-> 200
    amador 274 --> 260
    and also Uran Uran with a very small improvement : 742 --> 938

    none of that was what I was hoping for. meanwhile, riders a little cheaper did pretty well: Wellens, Aru, Rabottini, Boonen
    Same happened in 2013

    So.. I thought to myself, why use those 2500 points for half a dozen 300 points guys again, when I can also use them for someone who I am confident will more or less equal his score next year (my prediction is 2300-3000)

    and it will be up to my cheaper guys whom I have selected very carefully to get a profit

    But the main thing is:

    In 2013, I had Alberto in my team, and Hitch wanted to see my team because he wanted to help me. He wanted me to do well because that would pee off some people
    Hitch said, Alberto is not a good pick. (and Hitch was right, in the end)
    so I took Alberto out
    in 2014 I did pick Alberto
    I think you all know Alberto's respective performances in 2013 and 2014
    I rest my case

    Low scores have a better chance of improving and i have followed that premise more closely this year with 28 under 200  :flustered

    And yes 3 1000+ but can improve (why is there never a fingers crossed emoji)

    Was hard to drop some of my favorities to pick some obvious riders but there are still seven Colombians so i'm not so sure now if it really worked. No exp picks this year, hard to say how it will work. Anyway, expecting to be in the top of ranking with most popular picks.

    No unique picks expected ;)

    Perhaps a rush job, but I spent a long time on my team last year and it was awful. I'm going for Contador-style gut instinct this year, rather than a Froome-inspired marginal gain.

    All but 3 of my riders are below 500 points, and only 1 crosses into 4 figures. At the other end of the spectrum, only one is a freebie - I've not shown myself to be any good at judging those in previous seasons so I'm steering clear!

    Nationality breakdown: I'm favouring my homeland this year, but I'm hoping that my spread will keep things interesting. And yes, only two Portuguese. I feel like a traitor, but I couldn't afford Rui Costa - and all the others at WT are domestiques.

    Most noticeably, I've gone with youth this year. An average age of 25.5, and a median age of 24. Only 5 of my 33 riders are in their 30s, and 18/33 are 25 or younger.

    I'm expecting Oliveira to be given a bit of slack this year.

    I hope so... and I can see it happening as Mario Costa might well fill Nelson's supporting role for Rui.

    But I'm not sure he would be given 500-600 points worth of slack. And given that he will need to defend both NCs this year to avoid losing ground, I thought there were other Portuguese who might be better value for me. One in particular I'm very excited by.

    He is a great TTer and winning the RR too shows he has some talent, and he is only young. I bought him in my draft game for bottom dollar thinking he could do well, perhaps not 500-600 but maybe 400 ish.

    Ooh, I'm interested in your excitement, PM me please (and I promise I won't pick him if he is not already in my team)

    5 hours to go, folks! We're guaranteed to be at least the 2nd biggest edition of this game yet (133 teams has been reached), but time will tell if we're over 150, the high set last year... we're still missing some game luminaries, notably Hitch and first-year champ ingsve, but I haven't received teams from guys who've played every year, like Tuarts or bicing and some others, or folks who were prominent on the thread at CN last year like netserk... so if you know any of those folks, give 'em a nudge, deadline is coming up!

    Hi,

    Welcome to Velorooms :wave

    I have removed your attachment because teams can not be posted before the deadline (as otherwise people will see the teams and use your riders).

    Send you team to Skidmark who is organising the game and he will.

    If there are any difficulties let me know and we can help you out.

    Dane* but close enough! Evening. I regretted missing this competition last year and then forgot about it again until CafeRoubaix posted something on Twitter today. Still, I think I put a decent squad together in the limited time I had. Very different game from Podium Cafe's DS competition: this one seems to be much more about staffing your squad with 22-year-old neo-pros.
