Phil seemed to be in good enough form yesterday.

Marked the moves he was told to mark ... then made way for Cadel when he had to.

I would have liked to see him get to have a go for the stage, but wasnt to be.  Ah well ....

How does it feel to see Evans becoming the new Gilbert? I will await your defection... :)

Only.. He's not really doing that good ;)

Strange to see such a quality rider do so badly the entire season. He has to get back in form fast for the Tour, especially since his main goal (besides supporting Cadel) is in the first week... If he can't win anything at the Tour, he'll really need that WC jersey to save his season.

Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

Philippe Gilbert had to be restrained from getting aggressive toward the owners of the dog that jumped in front of him.

Watching RTBF today, after finishing Phil Giblet spent the rest of the stage in the commentary box and I heard his views on:

    - Tejay passing Cadel
    - His season so far and his future
    - His thoughts on the Worlds at Valkenburg
    - His conversations with Wiggins
    - Dogs dogs dogs

    Jealous?  :-\

I would love for him to win ... and I am soooo pleased to read that he is upbeat and form is improving

In the Tour I think he was in ok shape.  On stage 1 he got caught out of position due to a slight hiccup where he almost crashed in the last 5 km's and on the other stage (stg 4 I think) that he would normally have had a good shot at, he was caught behind a crash in the second group who didnt chase back on.

I was a bit dissapointed that he couldnt win from the break that he was in ... last year he would have won that, but still its showing good shape.

anyway - its looking good for hte worlds. San Sebastian, Lombardia etc will be interesting.

I do think the Olympics arent quite hard enough for him though

    Selective quoting
    Quote
Craven said that the biggest hill climb on the course had been retarred, which would counter his natural advantage as a climber.

“They retarred the climb, so now the climb will be a lot faster and it will make it easier for the sprinters, but more difficult for me because I can expect a lot of attacks now,” Craven said.

Craven rode the Olympic course Test race and is comparing it to then.

seriously what an idiot (the Belgian cycling official obviously, not Phil   ;)  )

Phil did everything he could at the Olympics.  His job was to get out there and make it hard.  He did that.

At the worlds, he told Roelandts to go for the sprint, and helped him all he could.
