Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

Jess Varnish says Shane Sutton told her to ‘go and have a baby’

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/apr/23/jess-varnish-british-cyling-shane-sutton-go-and-have-a-baby?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard

A lot of people have already weighed in with their own ill-informed opinions in what has now become a public matter.

Just based on what has been published, I'd have no difficulty believing the stories of either side on this one, although BC's "numbers not good enough" argument does seem like an attempt to shut down any discussion of management methods and people skills.

Mellow perhaps knows more but the BC Track experience comes off sounding a lot like the catering industry, a hermetically sealed environment full of intolerant prima donnas (by which I mean managers not riders) where regular standards of appropriateness probably don't apply.

    https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/about/article/20160427-about-bc-news-Statement-from-British-Cycling-0

that Drake statment is amazing considering the reason

Statement from British Cycling chief executive Ian Drake

“I want to put on record my thanks to Shane for his work with British Cycling and the part he has played in our success. We have a lot to be proud of and, with the Olympics and Paralympics this summer, a lot to look forward to.

“I understand and respect Shane’s decision to stand down. His primary focus has always been the athletes, and this decision is something he has taken to allow them to focus on their preparation for Rio. Andy Harrison, programmes director at British Cycling, will be taking over with immediate effect and will manage the team in the build-up to Rio 2016.

“As we announced yesterday, we are now putting in place an independent review with UK Sport so that we can investigate the allegations that have been raised in recent days about the culture within the Great Britain Cycling Team. We continue to be committed to promoting equality of opportunity and providing a supportive environment within British Cycling.

such a badly written statement and support of Sutton at this time

Nice article on the first women's Tour de France. 18 stages, same finishes as the men. Here we are 32 years later: a criterium in Paris for the women and a 10-day Giro we only get 3 minute highlights per day of.

Slow on the uptake here... as evidenced by JSG not having been aware of this.

Pauline Ferrand-Prevot faceplanted at the XCO Worlds. It looked painful, but she's back up and riding and ploughing ahead with her campaign to get an Olympic medal in Rio.
