Dress rehearsal of the 2019 Worlds route? :-x

stage 3 seems to be the 1 people are excited about and in one stage there is a 25% cobbled climb

  • Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

#delko Mauro Finetto lets slip in an interview which ASO wildcards the team has received:
    http://zonacycling.com/?p=38159

According to that, they'll be at
    Paris-Nice
    Paris-Roubaix
    Flèche Wallonne
No surprises, sounds like a reasonable calendar for the smallest of the French PCTs.

And I can say how Finetto is said to "talk too much and not think about it beforehand" in Italian cycling circles. :shh

No chance, This is Yorkshire. There will be tens of thousands of spectators on that climb alone.

From what I hear there are very steep climbs on every stage, and not just one either.

And we know that the Yorks undulations are a bit trickier than they look on the profiles already.

    Looks like a toughie.

I guess it's a delicate balance. You want top WT teams for the prestige and to challenge these guys, but you also need a handful of British Conti teams to generate local interest. However, with a field that is diverse in ability terms there is a risk of losing many of the domestic guys early if the course is too tough.

Not sure that ASO really care too much about the British domestic riders, they'll be in the breaks anyway. Also not really sure that the majority of the public are too worried about whether Christian House finishes with the reduced bunch either.

    Rightly or wrongly.

It will be decided on the third stage. They've looked at chucking the odd steep climb into otherwise flat stages the past couple of years and it's not made a huge difference. There will be splits coming out of robin hoods bay but stage 2 is a flat run in and finish. Gutted I'm away for it really

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/tour-of-qatar-and-ladies-tour-of-qatar-cancelled/

Qatar cancelled. So what's that all about then? Difficulty attracting sponsors? I don't buy it.

Could it be that not many WT teams accepted the invitation? or shall we say, the lesser lights accepted, but the big teams didn't or wouldn't guarantee sending their big names?

Anyway it does leave a blank in the calendar and is Oman at risk now too?

    Lots of questions.
