I stumbled across the Tweet that Kuwait-Cartucho.es is preparing for the Tour De Filipinas... so here is the full line up:

CCN Cycling Team (Laos)

Nice Cycling(Switzerland)

No Filipinas for Nice. Can't compete in the same race as CCN.

https://twitter.com/NiceCyclingTeam/status/831783091077312512

Tried googling for a 2017 UCI list of parent/feeder/sibling teams that can't compete together, but no luck.

The strange thing is that CCN Cycling Team isn't even on the UCI's list of Continental teams yet, but figure in this 'no-compete' list as a Conti team. :slow

    Anyhow, here's the UCI's 'no-compete' list for 2017:
    Main team Other team(s)
#worldtour AG2R La Mondiale #domestic Chambéry Cyclisme Formation
#worldtour Astana Pro Team #conti Astana City
    #conti Vino-Astana Motors
    #worldtour BMC Racing Team #conti Amplatz-BMC
    #domestic BMC Development Team
    #worldtour BORA-hansgrohe #domestic Team Auto Eder Bayern
    #worldtour Cannondale Drapac #conti Drapac Pat's Veg
#worldtour Team Dimension Data #conti Dimension Data for Qhubeka
    #worldtour FDJ #domestic bTwin U19
    #worldtour Lotto Soudal #domestic Lotto Soudal U23
    #domestic Belgian Cycling Talents
#worldtour Movistar Team #conti Team Ecuador
    #domestic AD Galibier
    #worldtour Orica-Scott #conti Mitchelton-Scott
    #worldtour Bahrain-Merida #domestic Bahrain Merida Cycling Academy
    #domestic Team Colpack
#worldtour Team LottoNL-Jumbo #domestic WV De Jonge Renner
#worldtour Team Sunweb #conti Development Team Sunweb
    #conti Shimano Racing Team
#worldtour UAE Abu Dhabi #domestic Team Marchiol
    #domestic SC Saronni
    #worldtour Trek Segafredo #domestic EFC-Etixx
    #proconti Caja Rural-Seguros RGA #domestic CC Urbasa
#proconti Delko Marseille Provence KTM #domestic VC La Pomme Marseille
#proconti Direct Energie #domestic Vendée U Pays de la Loire
#proconti Team Novo Nordisk #domestic Novo Nordisk Development Team
    #conti CCN Cycling Team
    #conti NICE Cycling Team

Note that "Teams on the same line or cell can’t participate to [sic] the same race". So Amplatz-BMC and BMC Devo can't enter the same race, nor can Astana City & Vino-Astana Motors. This last one will give the Tour of Almaty organisers some headaches, I guess ...
... unless one of the two teams lines up as a 'national team', of course. :shh

Most of the entries on this list make sense. Some don't:
Team Auto Eder Bayern & bTwin U19 are junior teams - and just by being junior teams, they can't ever compete in the same race as their 'big brothers' (who are more like 'fathers' in this case). It feels kind of pointless to include teams on this list that will never compete against each other anyway - they didn't list the numerous women's teams with links to a men's team, after all. And why would they. Listing junior teams is just as inane.

I also wonder just how #sunweb and #shimano are linked? :S
They used to be part of the same structure, but that was half a decade ago. Yes, Shimano is a sponsor of Team Sunweb as well, but (I would have thought) the team's "main partners" are Sunweb, Giant and Renson, with Shimano nothing more than one of several dozen smaller partners.
If that were to count as a link, virtually no team would be allowed to compete with another, as they're all sponsored by one of Shimano, Campagnolo, SRAM, Skoda, SRM, Elite, Tacx ...

It would make more sense to list Shimano Racing Team & GW-Shimano or Giant Cycling Team & Team Giant Castelli ... who still have absolutely no link with each other and shouldn't be barred from racing against each other (not that it's likely they ever will).

Given how much faith I have in the UCI with regards to these things could it be that they haven't updated some parts of the list Since the days of Sunweb being Giant-Shimano and so still have them linked by a title sponsor that is no longer a title sponsor.

    You'd think so.
    But I checked - Shimano Racing Team wasn't listed as a 'non-compete' team for Giant-Alpecin last year 2015. EDITED[1]
So it's not as simple as someone forgetting to remove them; they were intentionally re-added to the list.
     1. I double-checked; #giant & #shimano were on 'non-compete' list in 2016, but not in 2015.

Probably because someone complained that they raced together in Hainan

But ... Shimano didn't race in Hainan. :slow

Giant-Champion System (aka. Max Success Sports) did - and shouldn't have been allowed to really, as they have always been on the #giant #sunweb 'non-compete' list.

Checked again, Shimano were on the 2016 'non-compete' list, but not on the 2015 list (the first after Alpecin came to the team as co-sponsor). Shimano didn't race in Hainan in 2015 either, though.

So shimano stopped being title sponsor at what is now Sunweb at the end of 2014. They weren't listed as non compete the year after that but were the following year? It would be interesting to know what the various involvements were that meant that the compete/non compete status has changed in the intervening years.

    Exactly so.

It would be very interesting indeed! But I'm afraid if anyone ever took the question to Aigle, you'd at most get a non-answer along the lines of "we evaluate the situation continuously and make adjustments of the status accordingly" and never a real breakdown of what, where, how, and why.

Alberta down to four days, but at least it's there and they have a multi-year deal with ATB.

First stage will be in the Jasper National Park with the other three being "spoke and hub" and based in Edmonton.

Apparently the UCI has relaxed the "WT & PCT only" rule for new WorldTour races:
    https://twitter.com/axeonhb/status/835579185208954880

This may or may not be a one-off dispensation for California only, though:

    https://twitter.com/ProCyclingStats/status/835580409522110465

    Good grief.
This whole inclusion of new races on the WorldTour, and all that that entails, has been handled in a manner that's more than just looking bad. It actually IS bad.

Tacx Pro Classic (formerly Ronde van Zeeland) returns, has big plans about WT status:
    http://www.wielerflits.nl/nieuws/238519/tacx-pro-classic-wil-tweede-eendagsklassieker-van-nederland-worden.html
First edition, 1.1 level, will be held 14 October.

Hmm. I guess in October there's a very high chance of wind (and a possibility of rain) - because without the weather, this race is a snoozefest with a sprint at the end. With the right weather, it's marvellous.

Seven teams receive wildcard for ‘Tour of Flanders’ 2017

With a fantastic opening weekend on Flemish roads and a fabulous edition of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad behind us, the focus for all cycling fans now lies on the Ronde van Vlaanderen on April 2nd. Not only 18 WorldTour teams will be at the start of the Ronde in Antwerp, organizer Flanders Classics handed out 7 wildcards today as well.

Three Belgian Pro Continental teams can be admired on the Market Place in Antwerp: Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise, Wanty-Groupe Gobert and Veranda’s Willems-Crelan. The Dutch team of Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij and the Italian team of Willier Triestina, with Pippo Pozzato, will be welcomed as well by thousands of cycling fans from all over the world. To conclude, two French teams will be present in the party: Direct Energie Cycling Team and Cofidis, solutions Crédits

All 18 WorldTour teams will be waited upon as well for the 101st Ronde van Vlaanderen, which will bring all the best cyclists together on Sunday April 2nd. “We are really excited with this strong field of competitors”, says cycling director Wim van Herreweghe.

“The big guns have showed over the past weekend they are in great shape and we are convinced a lot of them will want to battle it out on Flemish roads for that Ronde trophy on the first Sunday of April. We handed out the wildcards to teams, which we are sure of they will be an added value. They will be intent on showing something on the international stage of “Flanders Finest.”

    Some additions (and a deletion).

    https://www.facebook.com/TurulCiclistAlSibiului/posts/1289871011071417

Tirol have changed their minds about participating, but added to the list are:

    Androni Giocattoli - ITALIA

Interpro Cycling Academy - FRANTA / JAPONIA
    Kuwait-Cartucho.es -KUWEIT
    Team Unieuro Trevigiani -ITALIA
    Team Giant Castelli -DANEMARCA

Now if Interpro are good enough for an invite, where's the one for NICE? :angry

#hurom Hurom and #roth Roth are new additions to the list of participating teams in Sibiu (and Colo Quick, in case that wasn't mentioned on here before)

Not really a surprise, but I suppose it's worth noting that one of the Belgian teams (albeit the Walloons) didn't get invited. Cofidis getting in certainly isn't a surprise as it appears that the UCI have made some kind of rule that mandates their admission into every race they want.

    Aqua Protect
Huh? There is no such team. Aqua Protect is a co-sponsor to WB-Veranclassic.
I think someone at Het Nieuwsblad has been staring at the #wbva kit for too long.
They mean #aquablue Aqua Blue Sport.

It must be Holowesko then (won the 2016 UCI America Tour team ranking) and Jelly Belly (race sponsor) getting the invites.

Unless they have a brain fade and invite Team Wiggins....... :D
