It's surprisingly got the biggest prize money pool for any one-day classic - 100k euros. The women get exactly the same with just a slightly different breakdown.

The slightly less good news is that the team size has been increased from six to seven. :S

A list of competing teams is included in the article. Just twelve, but don't worry as the riders are "all world class".

    http://www.ridemedia.com.au/features/exclusive-adam-hansens-successive-grand-tour-journey-ends/

Adam Hansen has not been selected for the Vuelta.
It's the end of an era!

I know age is catching up with him, but has he really done much the past few years in the GTs?

It makes me think of what Sven Nys was saying about De Gendt and the combativity prize at the TdF.

    https://twitter.com/sven_nys/status/888867040173412352

ie. If Hansen had ridden a bit more selectively in GTs the past couple of years he might have been able to snatch a result or two.

    Tour of Turkey
A 13-month hiatus on the race Twitter.
Now they're announcing the race parcours with less than a month to go to the race date ...
... which was pushed back half a year in the spring due to the political upheaval.
The 'article' on the website that apparently presents the parcours is a dead link that only loops back to the (Turkish version of the) start page.
Speaking of the website, there is no list of teams (or of the stages, for that matter). All there is is a page with a short paragraph "about" the race, an equally short race "history", a "gallery" with photos of last year's edition, a "press" page with all press releases, results etc. (only that there aren't any), and a "contact" page.

I'll believe that the race takes place this year when it finishes. Not even when it starts.
I'll believe it happened only after it has happened.

I had a quick look at the websites for some of the teams that raced last year - Lotto (who've been almost constant participants of the race), Delko, CCC and Caja. None of them had it on their calendars.

Suppose a race of some sort went ahead, could the race organizers sue the UCI if no WT teams showed?

We don't have a Race News thread for 2020 or 2022 yet, so I'll put this here.

Giro on it's way to Wales?

A sprint stage into Llandudno and something involving The Tumble please.

Given that this is one of the 'new' WT races, it's rather the other way around.
WT teams aren't obligated to participate, the onus is on the organisers to get them to come. And if they don't have at least 10 WT teams at the race (on average), their WT status can be withdrawn. I don't remember the exact details, but it's somewhere in the rulebook or a UCI press release.

So, even if there was a WT Tour of Turkey this year, and a handful of WT teams showed up, any self-respecting[1] UCI president would take the WT label off the race for, quite simply, not meeting WT standards.
     1. this is the key qualifier here

    Two teams. :cool

    Bora will be there.
Uh-oh, a German team going to Turkey. Probably with German staff and/or riders, too.

They better not beat any local riders in a sprint, or they'd risk being arrested right off their bike. :shh
