U23 TT World Champion Mikkel Bjerg tackled the Danish hour record today at the Odense Velodrome.

The record has stood since 1969 when Ole Ritter rode 48.879km. Mikkel was always expected to beat it and had set himself a target of getting close 52km.[1]

He achieved both aims - smashing the DK record with a distance of 52.311km which is an incredible feat and places him 5th in the all time list which. To put this into an international perspective here's the attempts since the rules were changed in 2014 (I've ordered them by distance covered)
