Weirdly, looking at my team I still have some hope of moving steadily up the standings over the next couple of years.

Very close at the end of Year One: everything to play for (and no way of effecting it):
    Year 2 Month 1 to Feb 5th

    Riders of the month
CALMEJANE Lilian      195pts   1 team   (Won GC with a stage win  and a 2nd in Bessèges, and 3rd in La Marseillaise for Alykaptan)
RESTREPO VALENCIA Jhonatan      148   5  (10th in TDU, 4th in Evans' Ocean Race)
SCOTSON Miles      127   1  (Aussie RR win, 5th in the TT and finishers' points for Just Some Guy)
VERVAEKE Louis      84   15   (a second and a fourth in Majorcan races)
SENNI Manuel      77   1   (3rd in Volta a la Comminitat Valenciana for Amis Velo)
CANTY Brendan      50   4 (Top 10 in both Aus nat champs events, top 20 in Evans' Ocean Race)
GAVIRIA RENDON Fernando      46   36   (2 stage wins in San Juan)
POLITT Nils      45   7  (6th in GC at Bessèges)

    Points earned
These scores are lower than the riders 1 year behind them: these riders are meant to be more established....
1   AmisVelo   424 (Restrepo, Vervaeke, Senni & Gaviria)
    2   Ludwigzgz   358  (Restrepo, Vervaeke & Gaviria)
    3   Alykaptan   293 (Calmejane & Gaviria)

    Standings
I'm still getting a nosebleed, while DJW moves ahead of Flo for 2nd.  Amis Velo's 7 place rise is the best of the month, and he and Alykaptan come into the top ten in place of Del and Karaev.  Given his dominant win in the 2014-16 win, Ludwigzgz' rise to 4th looks ominous.

Year 2 Month 2 and up to 5th March

February yields fewer points than January, and year one (for one team at least) outscores year 2:  points in these games can be rather counter-logical.

    (Name/points/teams)
ANTUNES Amaro Manuel Reposo      119   1 (Stage win and 5th in GC in Volta ao Algarve for GuilhermeRibeiro)
BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley      116   2  (7th in Langkawi, 5th in Larciano for Armchair Cyclist and Ruudz0r)
CALMEJANE Lilian      85   1 (5th in Haut Var GC, points in Drome, Ardeche and Laigueglia for Alykaptan)
OWEN Logan      65   1 (stage win 6th in    Volta ao Alentejo for Kazistuta)
DUNBAR Eddie      59   5 (5th in    Volta ao Alentejo)
RESTREPO VALENCIA Jhonatan      53   5 (2nd in Vuelta a Murcia)

1   Alykaptan   357 (Calmejeane and Dunbar, and 11 other scorers)
    2   Ruudz0r   337 (Bernal and 13 others)
    3   Armchair_Cyclist   307  (Bernal and 13 others)
    4   AmisVelo   296
    5   Ludwigzgz   286
    6   Joelsim   272
    7   Kazistuta   265
    8   Murrjt   260
    9   The_Fool_on_the_Hill   258
    10   HugoKoblet   256
    10   Del1962   256
    12   Leadbelly   241
    13   HilltopFinisher   236
    14   Madrazo   234
    15   Karaev   233
    16   GPBlanco   231
    16   MCMountain   231
    18   Vladimir   230
    19   Josedin   219
    20   Comodoro   217
    21   RoteLaterne   199
    22   Abbulf   198
    23   Scrooll07   196
    23   ItalianGigolo   196
    25   Flo   193
    26   Skidmark   189
    27   0w1s   180
    28   Togo   178
    29   Laarsland   177
    30   Jakob747   175
    31   Blues_in_the_Bottle   165
    32   GuilhermeRibeiro   159
    33   JustSomeGuy   156
    34   LukasCPH   144
    35   DJW   141
    35   Trudgin   141
    37   Bomboloni   140
       CollectiveWisdom   231

My continued, and extended, lead is more of a surprise to me than it is to any of you, I assure you.  Ludwigzgz' rise to 2nd is ominous, given his dominance of the 2014-16 game, but his 5 place rise is overshadowed by 6 place moves for Alykaptan, Amis Velo (both of those two are new in the top ten) and Ruudz0r.

DASSONVILLE Flavien      96 (win in Tourangelle, 9th in Loire Atlantique: 4 teams picked him a year earlier, but not this time)

    Standings

(This is getting embarrassing, but in a different way from my performance in most games... )
Being 2nd in the month increases Armchair's lead, while Alykaptan leaps 3 places to 2nd.  Ludwizgz drops from 2nd to 7th, but three others have more severe drops, while the highest placed of the 5 place risers is Amis Velo, who is matched outside the top ten by MCMountain and Rote Laterne.  Del1962 and Karaev sneak into the top ten.

Year 2, Month 4 3rd to 30th April (yes, that is a week ago, but it was the most recent update when I went to CQ this evening.  I guess it fits the intention of monthly updates...

Other than Moscon, the points were gleaned mainly from stage races rather than the classics
CALMEJANE Lilian      156pts (Circuit de la Sarthe stage and GC wins, and 5 WT finishes) for Alykaptan
ROSON GARCIA Jaime      133 (2nd in GC, a stage win and a 2nd, in Croatia) for 3 teams
MOSCON Gianni      127(5th in Paris-Roubaix) for 32 teams
BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley      98 (2nd in Appenino, 9th in Tour of the Alps) for 2 teams
GOGL Michael      80 (8th in Amstel) for 4 teams
EDMONDSON Alexander      66 (3rd in 2 stages, 4th in another, and 3rd in points competition in Romandie) for 6 teams

Alykaptan, having the top three scorers of the month, dislodges the previous leader (grrr, snarl...); Ludwigzgz, Del, Karaev and Flo also go up a spot in the top tenwhile Ruudz0r has the biggest (4 place) rise.

    Year 2 Month 7 3 to 30 July

While the big points in July were available in France, there were still other races going on, and some of our picks did OK in them.

BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley      162 (wins 2 stages and GC in Sibiu) for Armchair Cyclist and Ruudzor
MARTIN Guillaume      126 (23rd in Tour de France, 3rd on one stage and 6th in Polynormande) for 15 teams
CALMEJANE Lilian      124 (a (very impressive) stage win at the Tour, and GC points) for Alykaptan
BETTIOL Alberto      111 (6th in San Sebastian, and some Tour points)   for Armchair Cyclist and DJW
    GROSSSCHARTNER Felix      56   4 teams
    CICCONE Giulio      53   7 teams

    1   Ruudz0r   353 (Bernal and Martin)
    2   Armchair_Cyclist   308 (Bernal and Bettiol)
3   Alykaptan   300 (Martin and Calmejane)
    4   Blues_in_the_Bottle   248 (Martin and Ciccone)
5   DJW   236 (Bettiol and Grossschartner)
    6   Flo   234
    7   GPBlanco   233
    8   Skidmark   215
    9   Kazistuta   207
    10   Comodoro   185
    11   Bomboloni   183
    12   LukasCPH   178
    13   Murrjt   171
    14   Laarsland   169
    15   Karaev   166
    15   MCMountain   166
    17   HilltopFinisher   159

    22   RoteLaterne   116

    24   Vladimir   103
    25   Josedin   95

    27   Trudgin   92

    30   Scrooll07   69
    30   Togo   69
    32   HugoKoblet   60
    33   Leadbelly   57
    34   Abbulf   52
    35   AmisVelo   45
    36   Jakob747   38
    37   ItalianGigolo   15
       CollectiveWisdom   166

    Standings
The top three in the overall all scored well this month (all in the top 5), so they hold onto their positions, but below that both Flo and Murrjt move up a spot, and a little farther down Del1962 has a 2 place rise within the top ten, and Karaev the same to enter that exalted company.  Ruudzor's reward for being top scorer of the month is a 4 place rise.

Alykaptan has some riders I really like, but I didn't know or pick them at the end of 2015.  I find myself hoping that Enric Mas, Calmejane, Dunbar and Roson have great careers from 2019 onwards.

The top two scorers in August were already on the podium: luckily for me only one of them moved up.  Ludwigzgz and Amis Velo also move up within the top ten, while the 8 place riser of the month, Blues in the Bottle, is the only new entrant to the top ten.

Year 2, Month 10 25th Sept to 5th November  (with little likely to happen for the rest of the year)

October scoring shows Italian Autumn classics, the final WT tours, and those end of year Chinese races at which sprinters can fill their CQ  boots.

    Points this month
MOSCON Gianni      241pts (5th in Giro dell'Emilia, 7th in Tre Valli Varesine, 3rd in Il Lombardia) for 32 teams
GAVIRIA RENDON Fernando      205 (4 stage wins and a 2nd, and not surprisingly the points classification, in Guangxi)   36
MARTINEZ POVEDA Daniel Felipe      192 (9th in Tre Valli Varesine, 7th in Milano-Torino, 4th GC in Turkey)   14
MARTIN Guillaume      171 (A stage and the overall in Giro della Toscana)   15
BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley      118 (5th in Giro della Toscana, 13 in Il Lombardia)    for Armchair and Ruudzor
GODOY Yonder Eduardo      111  (6th in Turkey GC)   for Trudgin
ROOSEN Timo      95   for Flo, Joelsim and Scrool07
    CONSONNI Simone      76   19
ALZATE ESCOBAR Carlos Eduardo      66   for Trudgin
    WALSCHEID Maximilian      62   6
BETTIOL Alberto      54   for Armchair and DJW

Collective Wisdom was one of the biggest scorers of the month (a collective pat on the back for us all), which probably correlates with the top teams on monthly scores having very similar top scorers.

1   Ruudz0r   1075 (Moscon, Gaviria, Martinez, Martin and Bernal)
2   Murrjt   1010 (Moscon, Gaviria, Martinez, Martin and Consonni)

    Standings
Of the three games running parallel, this is the one I most look forward to updating, but I'm still unsure how long that this situation will last.  The lead has increased for now though.
The top six remain in the positions they were in after the World Championships (last update); behind them, Skidmark and Ruudzor are into the top ten, and with 6 and 7 place rises respectively are the biggest positive movers this time around.

The Collective Ignorance team are those that none of us had heard of or regarded as much of a prospect 2 years ago: we were wrong.

    MEURISSE Xandro      831
    VAN AERT Wout      798
    ALARCON GARCIA Raul      669
    GIDICH Yevgeniy      627
    JENSEN August      594
    GAUDU David      548
    ORTEGA RAMIREZ Mauricio      526
    AVILA VANEGAS Edwin Alcibiades      510
    HUFFMAN Evan      505
    HALVORSEN Kristoffer      487
    JANSEN Amund Grøndahl      478
    MCCABE Travis      451
    CARPENTER Robin      439
GARCIA DE MATEOS RUBIO Vicente      428
    KIRSCH Alex      425
    GIBBONS Ryan      424
    VAN DER HOORN Taco      411
    BAYLY Cameron      408
Total   9559 which would place this group in 6th place, and only just ahead of our Collective Wisdom.

On the other hand, the Fruits of our Thoughts selection: the best team out of those who were selected, even if only once:

GAVIRIA RENDON Fernando      2101pts   36 teams (out of 37)
    MOSCON Gianni      1486   32
    CALMEJANE Lilian      1232   1 (Alykaptan)
BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley      925   2 (Armchair and Bernal)
BETTIOL Alberto      922   2 (Armchair and DJW)
    MARTIN Guillaume      724   15
ROSON GARCIA Jaime      701   3 (Alykaptan, Leadbelly, Vladimir)
    PEDERSEN Mads      673   28
    SOLER GIMENEZ Marc      627   22
    GEOGHEGAN HART Tao      591   24
    VENTURINI Clément      586   4
RÄIM Mihkel      534   2 (DJW, LukasCPH)
    POLITT Nils      533   7
ANTUNES Amaro Manuel Reposo      472   1 (Guilherme Ribeiro)
    CICCONE Giulio      459   7
    CONSONNI Simone      449   19
    BOUDAT Thomas      442   20
SENNI Manuel      432   1 (Amis Velo)
    Total   13889

So at this stage, the Best Possible team is:
    GAVIRIA RENDON Fernando      2101
    MOSCON Gianni      1486
    CALMEJANE Lilian      1232
    BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley      925
    BETTIOL Alberto      922
    MEURISSE Xandro      831
    VAN AERT Wout      798
    MARTIN Guillaume      724
    ROSON GARCIA Jaime      701
    PEDERSEN Mads      673
    ALARCON GARCIA Raul      669
    SOLER GIMENEZ Marc      627
    GIDICH Yevgeniy      627
    JENSEN August      594
    GEOGHEGAN HART Tao      591
    VENTURINI Clément      586
    GAUDU David      548
    RÄIM Mihkel      534
    Total      15169

With a neat symmetry, 6 of these are in the Collective Wisdom group, 6 are rarer picks, and 6 were totally overlooked.

Armchair is achieving 66.7% of the maximum possible: 6 of us are failing to reach the 50% mark.

Between 5th November and the end of the year, Simon Pellaud (a unique pick for Just Some Guy)picked up 11 points in the Tour of Rwanda.  No change to the positions.

Year 3 Month 1 up to 4th Feb

The last lap begins for this game, in which the best scores and the game determining performances are to be expected.

But it is January, so we start the year's scoring unspectacularly.  The top four scorers are riders who didn't perform too well in year one, so also featured in the update for the 2017-19 game.

BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley   165pts (6th in TDU GC and nat TT Champ) for Armchair Cyclist and Ruudz0r

EDMONDSON Alexander   112   (National RR Champ) for 6 teams

    MOSCON Gianni   86   32

Most changes are only by one place up or down, and the highest movement in the table is Mujjjt and Flo swapping 4th and 5th places.  DJW tightens his grip on 3rd, and 2nd placed Alykaptan is nearer to 3rd than 1st. Ruudz0r and MC Mountain also have positive moves within the top ten, and Comodoro has the biggest forward jump, 3 places.

I fear that a bit of white paint and José Rojas may have just given Alykaptan the game.

    Year 3, Month 3 5th March to 1st April

A lot of points scored this month, with one popular pick having an exceptional month to win most of them.  Once a rider has won Paris Nice, or podiumed the Ronde, he can be said to have emerged

SOLER GIMENEZ Marc   498pts (Paris Nice win with 2 stage podiums, 5th in Catalunya, and 6th in GP Indurain) for 22 teams
HOFSTETTER Hugo   331 (2nd in Denain and Cholet, 3rd in Nokere Koerse and Tourangelle, 3 other 1.1 top tens) for Alykaptan
PEDERSEN Mads   255 (2nd in Ronde, 5th in Dwars) for 28 teams
ACKERMANN Pascal   166 (2nd in Dreidaagse, 3rd in Handzame) for Lukas CPH
SISR Frantisek   140 (Ronde van Drenthe win) for 0w1s
MOSCON Gianni   131 (8th in E3 Harelbeke, placing points in Strade Bianche, Ronde and Dwars)   32 teams
ROSON GARCIA Jaime   91pts Alykaptan, Leadbelly, Vladimir.
    BOUDAT Thomas   91pts   20 teams
    HOELGAARD Daniel   88   8
MARTINEZ POVEDA Daniel Felipe   86   14
    GROSSSCHARTNER Felix   80   4
    POLITT Nils   73   7
    ROOSEN Timo   72   3

I'd have to check, but 2nd place in a monument and winning one of the most prestigious one week tours is probably the best one-month score in the short history of this game.

1   Alykaptan   1530 (Soler, Hofstedder, Pedersen, Moscon, Roson, Boudat)
2   Del1962   1310 (Soler, Pedersen, Moscon, Boudat, Hoelgaard, Grossschartner, Politt)
3   HugoKoblet   1307 (Soler, Pedersen, Moscon, Boudat, Hoelgaard, Martinez, Politt)
4   RoteLaterne   1244 (Soler, Pedersen, Moscon, Boudat, Martinez, Grossschartner)
    5   Murrjt   1217
    6   Scrooll07   1202
    7   MCMountain   1185
    8   Ludwigzgz   1177

    36   Laarsland   110
    37   GuilhermeRibeiro   52
       CollectiveWisdom   1125

    Standings

The pendulum swings back to the monthly winner (again), Alykaptan.  Bernal's fall in Catalunya,  and the speed of his return, will be important to the game, but some misfortune off-camera obviously affected Calmejeane in GP Indurain as well, costing Alykaptan a couple of dozen points. At the moment, Hugo Hofstedder's consistent month in 1.1s and 1.HCs is the difference between the top two.
Murrjt leapfrogs DJW to stand on the podium, Hugo leaps into the top ten and straight up to 6th while Togo makes a omore modest entry to the top 10, and just behind that Del1962 has the best rise (7 places) this month.

    Year 3 Month 4 April 2 to May 6

My fears after Catalunya's last stage that Bernal's point scoring had been curtailed was unduly pessimistic

BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley   308 (2nd on GC and Mts classification, 3rd in Pts classification, a stage win and another podium, all in Romandie) for    Armchair and Ruudz0r
MARTIN Guillaume   201 (GC and stage win in Circuit de la Sarthe, 3rd in Finistere) for 15 teams
MAS NICOLAU Enric   157 (6th in Itzulia, with stage win and other placements) for   Alykaptan
CICCONE Giulio   135 (9th in Tour of the Alps, win Giro dell'Appenino) for 7 teams

PAREDES ZAPATA Wilmar Andres   120   for Ruudz0r

    1   Ruudz0r   830 (Bernal, Martin, Paredes)
2   Alykaptan   717 (Martin, Mas, Calmejeane)
    3   GPBlanco   493 (Martin, Ciccone)
    4   Armchair_Cyclist   484 (Bernal)
    5   LukasCPH   460 (Martin, Ackermann)

    Standings
The scores are not as big as last month, but although former leader Armchair Cyclist was a very respectable 4th in the month, the current leader is even higher placed, second on the April scores, so the margin extends to nearly 500.  Murrjt slightly increases his lead over 4th place, but drops yet farther behind the top two. Ruudz0r takes a 7 place jump, back into the top ten.

Year 3 Month 8/9 7th August to 30th September  (sorry for running 2 months together; I was rather busy with the Vuelta game at the beginning of Sept)

Give the riders this far into their careers 2 months and some big races, and you'll get some pretty big scores, for some teams at least.

MAS NICOLAU Enric   474   (2nd in Vuelta GC, with stage win and some other points) for Alykaptan

    BOUDAT Thomas   111   20
    FICARA Pierpaolo   108   1

    Standings
The pendulum between the two leaders had been moving toward Alykaptan for some time: Mas's performance in the Vuelta made that quite decisive, and as top scorer this month, he has made that lead pretty much unassailable.  Second this month, and in third place since April, Murrjt now has reason to look up at second, rather than nervously at those below him.  Hugo Koblet and Flo both move up one within the top ten, and Skidmark and Hilltop Finisher each manage to move up by two spots.
