I'm very sad that Jürgen Roelandts is leaving Lotto-Soudal. Since last year I've started to feel sympathies for that team. Probably they don't really get the best of results but they are a band of brothers. Their 2017 line-up was pretty much the same as the 2016 one. I remember Tosh Van der Sande extending and explaining he felt really good in that team. Now Tony Gallopin and Jürgen Roelandts are already leaving. I guess with Jens Keukeleire coming and Jasper De Buyst focusing on the road, there are not enough room another fast guy and one had to leave but I mean he's one of my favourite riders. It would be odd for me to see him at BMC. He's always raced with Lotto since turning pro, if I'm not mistaken.   :(

    They want to be seen less as a Russian team and more as a global team, is my guess.

    Sky have lost quite a few riders now with very few, if any, incomings. PCS is only listing 12 for them next season and that includes Viviani who i'm sure i've seen linked away.

    Nieve, Kennaugh, Boswell, Landa ??? out - all climbers.

    Bernal and Sivokov (spelling) coming in...neo-pros - must be some big name domestiques TBA yet? Not Fuglsang but is Kruijswick a possibility?

    Trentin #quickstep ---> #orica

    The odd Viking #fdj -----> #wanty

    Both good signings and team fits imo

    Yep I like... The Odd Viking did say people would be surprised with his choice.

    Yoann Offredo and Eiking appear to have a good relationship.

    Last year, when Offredo left #fdj there were some rumours he was contemplating going to #joker (Eiking's old squad) as he didn't fit in at #fdj. Offredo seems happy at #wanty and now there is a similar story with Eiking and FDJ,  so he follows Offredo.

    While in #fdj we have only occasionally seen the same rider that gave Bauke Mollema a run for the money in Lillehammer finish of Tour of Norway and also in the  Lillhammer-based Norwegian Championship 2015 lost narrowly to Edvald Boasson Hagen (almost the same finish...), it is also apparent that his time at #fdj has been good for developing his physical capabilities.

    If Wanty-Groupe Goubert can fix Eiking's positioning problems (he starts the final climbs last in the group, almost every time),  Eiking can be a regular top-10 in WT races on hilly steep finishes, and one day he might win something slightly big!

    Yoann was certainly singing his praises on the Arctic Race team presentation programme the other night. Said they got on well and that when he was asked about him by the team, gave him a good report. BTW I keep meaning to ask, Yoann calls his Christian and I have seen the same in other reports. Is he known as Odd or Christian??

    He's no personal aquintance of mine, and not everyone follows conventions with respect to which name to use in Norway. The common way would be to use both first names as in "Odd Christian" because that has a good rythm to it in Norwegian. However, in France that might be considered cumbersome (I don't have a clue) as the "melody" of Christian is a bit different.

    (PS...My name is somewhat similar and I have concluded people can just call me Tom).

    What role could a classics-minded one-day sprinter possibly play in the Skybot squad? :o
    I'm sure they could do the same to him as they did to EBH back when he was there - make him a locomotive for the lower slopes of the mountains. But that wouldn't even be a waste of talent anymore - it would be practically criminal.

    Go #jumbo!

    Uran re-ups for 3 years, focussing on the Tour de France.

    That goes some way to explaining the Argyle exodus - presumably JV is working to strengthen a team around Rigo.

    :o Me too. This sounds like there will be some very uncomfortable times around the squad dinner table. THREE leaders? I've thought Valverde has done better than many have credited him, but still . . .

    I can't think that Landa is coming to Movi as support. Is Quintana moving down the road, or is he chopped liver now?

    Errrrrrr the Landa transfer saga has been in the news for a long time.  :D

    Quintana has a contract for next year, but there have been rumours (denied by his agent) about him moving on (to Astana?). Can't see it happening even though the relationship between him and the team is a bit rocky at the mo.

    Assuming Valverde gets back to normal after his leg break, it does leave a very strong triumverate. Landa for the Giro, Quintana for the Tour and Valverde for the Vuelta (naturally Valverde might also ride the Tour etc).

    The problem is the rest of the team - Zidanes y Pavones. Gorka is off to join his brother, Castroviejo to Sky, Malori has retired and rumours of Herrada to Fortuneo. The only other incoming transfers so far are Roson (good), Sepulveda (not so good) and possibly a couple of graduates from Lizarte (Pavones). So some of the youngsters (Soler, Fernandez, Carapaz) will need to step up as Amador can't ride every race.

    Still, I think most people/teams would think Movistar have got a good deal.

    Oh? I missed it then. Last I heard was just everybody massively speculating on Landa going SOMEWHERE, with no real indication of where.

    It's too bad for Quintana if things aren't going well for him in Movi. He is a rider I would like to see get proper support. Although he does need to get some more results. He seems to be emulating Contador lately. ;)

    Anyway, thanks for updating me!

    I am pretty sure I wrote somewhere here that could be expected...it is in the katusha thread:

    #katusha Katusha has slashed Kristoff's red train for Tour de France 2017: no Michael Mørkøv, no Svein Eirk Bystrøm. I don't know who's on the in-list, only heard about these on the out-list.

    One might speculate the includes are mostly german-speaking? (Nils Politt, Rick Zabel and Tony Martin would probably qualify for any train what so ever, it's just me and my predictions that Katusha   really want to target the german market. This comes with a prediction that it will be Kristoff leaving and Kittel their new top sprinter for next year. If they're not content with just keeping Rick Zabel.

    Nailed it, didn't I?  :D
