The Portuguese federation's laxity with paperwork means Nocentini is unable to compete. Sartor replaces him.

Official start list. UFF obviously didn't make it to the ranks of being a CT team, but the same riders make up the Brazilian national selection.

ESPN when I checked earlier only had a highlights programme scheduled, but thankfully Youtube is to the rescue.

    Fingers crossed.

One of the San Luis comms makes a return - not the Diego Ulissi look-a-like.

Might as well use http://velorooms.com/index.php/page,Livechat1.html , but it could be a bit quiet until the finish.

    Chaotic finish.

They were meant go take the left branch here, but some went right and ended up having to show off their CX skills going across sandy scrubland and jumping barriers.

Quickstep made it look easy. I think they'll stick with Gaviria tomorrow just to hold onto the jersey for another day, but I would expect Mauro and Boonen to get a chance later in the week.

Someone should include stuff like that in a race route on purpose. Would be fun to watch. :shh :D

Malucelli did well to get in the right position, but the pace was waaay too hot for him

    Mauro

That should be Max of course, but it's easy to mix it up with three brothers.

A bit windy in San Juan currently, but from the forecast it looks like it will weaken towards early evening when the race will be finishing.

Something to liven up the stage would be good though.

If anything I imagine that Quickstep will be relishing this and think they have an even better chance. Not that they need the advantage.

Suggestions that Nibs has done a collarbone, but then suggestions that it was Agnoli who crashed.

    Agnoli it was

“I entered the roundabout in third place – said Valerio Agnoli – but the two riders in front of me slipped and found myself on the ground, too. “

The Italian rider raised immediately getting to the finish line in San Juan with the first group. “Luckily I only have a few bruises on my right hip and elbow. It’s part of the game, tomorrow I’ll be normally at the start

Atapuma seems to be a bit worse off, but nothing too serious

@elpumaDarwin has reported strong contusions and facial bruises, he is under observation in hospital, nothing really serious. More info to come.

Today's time trial starts at 16:30 Argentinian time, that's 20:30 over here in central Europe as far as I can see.

~pdf 3ª Etapa, SAN JUAN - SAN JUAN (CRI), 11.9 Kms (-ORDEN DE SALIDA PARA LA C.R.I)

hard to say who is the favorite on this fairly non-technical course, especially at this early point of the season. Brändle probably, but Navardauskas and Boaro are good in short time trials as well

The shots from the back of the pack are ... different. :lol

And the guy at the finish line waving the flag ... :S
Shouldn't be allowed, I don't care if they want to "look F1" or not. Safety has to come first, and waving a checkered flag right into the path of sprinters is potentially dangerous.

Young Cavagna was leading for a while but knocked off the podium by a couple of the stage favourites and an impressive ride by Mollema.

Bauke in a good position for the GC with 30+ seconds on Nibali.
