Soto won the sprint from the peloton yesterday as well.

All change in Guadeloupe. A big break got away containing 8th, 9th and 10th on the GC and they're now the new podium. It's over two minutes back to the previous encumbents.

    Double header of stages today.

On 126 kilometers with a circuit around Baie-Mahault, one would have thought that Zydrunas Savickas and his team from Bourg-en-Bresse would bring the yellow jersey back to the finish line. It has not happened !

The formation of the yellow jersey begins by letting leave an imposing group consisting essentially of boys not dangerous to the general, in search of a victory of prestige.

Zydrunas Savickas knows it will be attacked on all sides. And it is not disappointed ... In turn, Carène, Ubeto, Sablon, Murillo, Milan Jimenez and Carène. And it is Sébastien Fournet Fayard (+ Murillo and Ubeto) who takes advantage of all this fuss to escape.

They made the junction with the big leading group in which there were 2 other members of the DN1 formation.

And Savickas suddenly feels all alone. The help of his teammates, notably Simon Buttner, is not enough.

It's been a long time since we had some American Tour races and since the Tour do Rio won't be happening we'll have to wait a bit longer. That means the Tobago Cycling Classic will be next.

After that it should be the postponed Venezuela, but I can't see it happening. The non-UCI Vuelta a Tovar has now been moved to start on the 6th Oct which was the date Venezuela was meant to be starting, so signs aren't good.

    Tour of Tobago 1st October

Looks like the same course as in previous years and there is the usual 4 day TICC beforehand.

Unless you have been living under a rock you will know there have been several hurricanes causing much damage in the Caribbean recently. Tobago being right down near South America escaped the worst of it, but it has still had effects on the race. Teams from Guadeloupe, Cuba, Dominican Republic, St. Martin and Miami have all withdrawn.

The other negative for the race is "two major stakeholders of the event did not commit to support the event this year". This means they can't afford to hire ESPN to give us highlights of the UCI race and the four day TICC. No more Ronald Dickie! However there will still be streaming of the last two stages of the TICC via http://streamevents.tv/.

So a reduced line-up for the race. In fact there are only 10 teams registered for the Elite category of the TICC and I presume these will be the same teams for the UCI race, but with a few changes.

    Teams registered so far:

    Embrace The World

Micha Glowatzki (GER), Lucas Carstensen (GER), Christian Schumacher (GER), Denis Bojarkin (GER), Lauritz Urnauer (GER), Matthias Plattner (SUI)

    RC Schwalben

Gero Hornberger (GER), Philipp Panni (GER), Paul Schuler (GER), Ken Tiltmann (GER)

    Team Econo

Jose Luis Rivera (ARG), Jhoan Sabastian Caicedo (COL), Andres Camilo Pedroza (COL), Christian Torres (COL), Nicklas Amdi Pederson (DEN), Aria Kiani (USA), Ben Foster (USA)

    Team Heatwave

Guy Costa (TTO), Enrique De Comarmond (TTO), Edwin Sutherland (BAR), Jamol Eastmond (BAR), Jesse Kelly (BAR), Gregory Vanderpool (BAR), Michael Anthony (GUY)

    Team Jet Blue

Njisane Phillips (TTO), Lorenzo Orosco (TTO), Varum Maharajh (TTO), Jovian Gomez (TTO), Akil Campbell (TTO), Tyler Cole (TTO), Jyme Bridges (ANT), Romello Crawford (GUY)

    Team Pharmaco

Emile Abraham (TTO), Ben Ren Kema (USA), Winston David (USA), Parker Kyser (USA), Jack Silverburg (USA), Corey Davis (USA), Raymauth Jeffrey (GUY)

    Team Raiders

Adam Alexander (TTO), Joshua Alexander (TTO), Stalin Quieterio (Dom Rep), Rafael Meran (Dom Rep), Adderly Cruz (Dom Rep), Stalin Quiterio (Dom Rep), Dennis Ramirez (COL, Maximo Rojas (VEN), Marlies Mejias (CUB)

    Team PSL

Arno Van Der Zwet (NED), Marloe Rodman (JAM), Nick Stöpler (NED), Twan Brusselman (NED), Peter Schulting (NED), Martin Kelderman (NED), Trevor Connor (USA), Alex Bhogal (CAN)

Team St. Vincent & the Grenadines

Trevor Zefal Bailey (SVG), Enroy Lewis (SVG), Samuel Lyttle (SVG), Andrew Norbert (LCA)

    Team Veloclub Ratisbona

Marcel Weber (GER), Stephen Brandlmeier (GER), Christoph Setescak (GER), Johannes Glameyer (GER), Josef Schafbauer (GER), Jürgen Dietsche (GER), Robert Müller (GER)

I have highlighted a few names to watch out for. Carstensen has 15 UCI top-tens this year (including 5 wins). Rivera scored a couple of top-tens in the sprints in San Jaun. Pederson usually rides for Giant-Castelli and had a trio of top-tens at Sibiu this year. Phillips, Campbell and Cole are decent trackies. Emile Abraham has come out of retirement at the age of 43 to ride. Adderlyn Cruz is a previous winner of the UCI event. Mejias is a woman (a woman's team competed in one of the lower categories last year). Van der Zwet is the defending champion of the TICC and has some very strong Dutch riders in his team. Rodman is a good sprinter.

I highlighted the strength in depth of Team PSL and they dominated the 4 day TICC which ended yesterday.

Peter Schulting took stage one and then finished second on stage two behind Carstensen. Not sure who won stage three, but according to Embrace The World it was Schulting's team who employed some "good and gruelling tactics" to ensure that Lucas was unable to contest for the win.

    https://twitter.com/schultingpeter/status/914177468357062657

To round it off Marloe Rodman won the final stage and naturally Schulting won the points based GC.

The Dutchman has to be the favourite for today's UCI race (he probably had the best pedigree anyway coming into the race), but maybe Adderlyn Cruz can do something to upset the apple cart.

So far they have announced Canel's - Specialized and Memorial Santos. I have read elsewhere that Medellin and Virgen de Fátima could make the trip. Nothing so far about the Uruguayan entrant.

As for the local teams participating, they have had a series of 5 qualifying races through the year (Coppa Italia style) to find the cream of the crop. The ten teams who have made it are:
