First day in the mountains and the first real action. JC Rojas (despite a couple of crashes in the opening stages) attacked on the cat 3 and had a gap of ~2 mins at one point, but thankfully that had shrunk significantly by the end due to work from Villalobos, Cala and a few others.

Santos back in the lead.

Uphill TT today, so we'll really see who has the legs for a GC shot.

Villalobos still very much in contention at just 19 seconds back in the GC.

Villalobos took the fight to JC Rojas yesterday. They were going mano a mano on the main climb. Once they had crested though a few others came back to form an elite group, which interestingly had more Nestle riders than Beans. Villalobos attacked again near the finish to claw back a rather generous 4 seconds (4m05 to see what I mean) on the GC.

I don't know what's going on 3m30. Must have been some local japester who decided to try and get his 15 seconds of fame.

There was a good chance that this was what was going to happen. Gap isn't insurmountable, but today's it probably the turn of Big Brother to attack and Villalobos can't cover both of them on his own.

JC Rojas domination going on at the moment.

Villalobos is next on the road at ~8 minutes and his brother is in a small group at ~13 minutes.

Cesar Rojas suffered a mechanical at just the wrong time, but his brother seemed untouchable today anyway.

Rojas think he can win another one, so won't be retiring just yet, but coaching a team of young riders is something he would like to get involved in when he does.
