:win miracles can happen  :lol :win
makes it all the more rewarding to have #axeon Logan Owen in profit too as he was my VR collective pick

This week

 *ga

Asbjorn Kragh Andersen

Thought he might dominate here but was tenth yesterday and 3rd  #delko rider so not really sure what he will do, only needs a few points to be in profit though.

*be Le Samyn

Hugo Hofstetter

*it Strade Bianche

Tobias Ludvigsson
Jasper Stuyven

Not too hopeful about these

*fr Paris Nice

John Degenkolb
Daniel Hoelgaard
Ilnur Zakarin
Julian Alaphillippe

Could be another good race but won't get most of the points (if any) for a couple of week

*it Industria

Malori
Ganna

Just hoping Adriano can finish a race  :(

ie Sagan - who I think maybe has the rolling CQ points record right now?

The previous best was Gilbert in 2011 after the WCRR (inc his Lombardia & Gran Piemonte wins from 2010) the figure was 3498 on the download but if you look at it now and calculate it, it would be 3510 due to reallocating stripped points from Contador (got that from a Hitch post at CN).

So Sagan's current total of 3512 is indeed the highest, obviously it could go up even more after Strade Bianche but will likely drop a fair bit after Tirreno.

I think the next best two were Valverde in 2015 with 3463 and Purito in 2013 with 3429 both of which were because they rode Catalunya that year instead of Pais Vasco so had points from an 'extra race' on top of the previous year.

Less said about my team so far this year the better!

Same for me, Classics game going badly for this I've got Adam Yates off the mark in style, AKA bagging a handful of Bongo points to go into profit and a few points from the likes of Arredondo and Hofstetter.

For next week Adam looks in decent form for Tirreno and Alaphilippe has put himself in a good position for P-N. forgot I also had Simon in P-N (as long as he stays clear of the inhalers)

Update #8: Upheval in the standings

Just like the unpredictable, exciting racing we saw this weekend at Strade Bianche and in the opening day of Paris-Nice, the overall standings of the CQ game got shredded this week, with a brand new overall podium, and 3 teams doing a double-digit leap into the top 10 overall. Up until this point rare picks have been driving the standings, but with sort-of popular riders like Kwiatkowski (62 teams), Van Keirsbulck (48 teams), Benoot (49 teams) and Carapaz (40 teams) scoring big this week, there were some clear differences between teams who gained and teams who suffered this week. Of course, to reach the top of the weekly standings, you have to gain an edge somewhere on top of these popular picks, like, say, a unique pick who scores big.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   shalgo   729
    2   AlyKaptan   615
    3   Kazistuta   597
    4   fauniera   593
    5   Maaaaaaaarten   568

This one wasn't even close. The only team to have breakout Langkawi star Ryan Gibbons was shalgo; that's a handy 176 points for a unique pick, almost as much as Kwiatkowski got for winning Strade Bianche (who shalgo also has). The other boxes are checked with Benoot, Van Keirsbulck and Carapaz, but then just for fun their team got 74 points from Mekseb Debesay (2 teams). Handy points, but shalgo would have won the week even without them. Second place AlyKaptan didn't have either of the Africans, but did have all the other above-mentioned riders plus Adam Yates, who also won in Italy. Third place Kazistuta had a similar makeup, but swap Yates for Egan Bernal and you've got it.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   up/down
    1   AlyKaptan   (+48)
    2   adamski101   (+39)
    3   Popchu   (+38)
    4   Kazistuta   (+37)
    5   shalgo   (+35)

Some solid moves up the chart this week. shalgo was too high up in the overall to move up much higher, so ends up 5th in this category and AlyKaptan wins the week. adamski101 and Popchu do better than their top 10 scores in the top scorer category and appear on the update this week.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   ItalianGigolo   71.2
    2   Nicosix   67
    2   DJW   67
    2   Trudgin   67
    5   the asian   61
    5   LightBing   61
    5   GP Blanco   61

Wow! The overall is very strangely tied in a number of ways. ItalianGigolo stays on top, but Nicosix gets 8 points for the week to make a three-way tie for 2nd place; the asian scores 16 points to move into a 3-way tie for 5th. It seemed like only yesterday teams were getting in the top 5 overall for winning a week, but this week's winner shalgo only makes it to 12th overall this week with the 45 points for the win.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
    1   (+3)   LightBing   2360
    2   (+7)   HelgeBlendet   2300
    3   (+7)   Pentacycle   2291
    4   (+12)   tom_jelte   2276
    5   (-)   Total Package   2264
    6   (-)   Russell23   2255
    7   (+10)   Nicosix   2240
    8   (-7)   greenedge   2233
    9   (+35)   shalgo   2225
    10   (-7)   jeroenk   2221

As promised, mostly big moves! greenedge, who's led this thing since Obama was still president, finally has his hold broken on the top spot and tumbles down to 8th. LightBing has a quietly solid week, and is on top! HelgeBlended and former winner Pentacycle jump up to the podium. Pandemonium elsewhere, with Total Package and Russell23 staying put as a collective sea of calm in all the turmoil. tom_jelte, Nicosix and weekly winner shalgo just vault into the top 10, while Eyeballs Out, Squire, and lenissart fall out. But really, it's carnage everywhere - I count 69 teams - more than half the teams in the game - that either rose or fell 10 spots or more. Paris-Nice is the main draw this week, and with many of the GC points likely to be taken up by rare/non-picked riders, it might be a more subdued week; although Tirenno is starting, and if the last few days of racing have shown us anything, it's that anything can happen.

    My points this week
    Contador 326
    Degenkolb 74
    Viviani 28
    Küng 11
    Spilak 5
    Breschel 3
    Total 450-ish
Although I am not sure if the Tirreno points will count towards this update

Nice points for Berto although it could have been much better. He is now exactly 150 points ahead of his score at this point last year, that could be just about enough to be even after Catalunya and (a downgraded) Pais Vasco. Then he'll have to improve in the second half of the season :)
In Tirreno I have Spilak in a good position on the GC, in 10th, not amazing but after Aru's disappointing performance it's better than I expected.

Update #9: Paris-Nice points loom large as lead changes again

I don't know about you guys, but my favourite weeks (well, I guess second favourite, other than 'when my team scores lots of points' weeks) of the CQ game are when there are a bunch of little races, and points come from all over the place and you end up having a crazy mix of teams and riders on top of the weekly leaderboard. This week wasn't like that - which is okay, it's still a super fun week! But it's just that with P-N and T-A as the two real events of the weeks (sorry Drenthe, but Jan-Willem Van Schip just ain't the same draw as Contador & co), there isn't much variety at the top. If you are one of the lucky few with some top finishers in P-N, sprinkled with maybe some winning points for stages of T-A so far, then you are doing well this week. If not... there's not much to supplement your team.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   Eric10   676
    2   DJW   660
    3   Jakob747   595
    4   Leadbelly   561
    5   18-Valve. (pithy)   545

There are 12 teams with Julian Alaphilippe in this game, and 5 of them are in the top 5 this week. The top 4 teams also are 4 of the 16 teams that have Zakarin, and 3 of the top 4 are among the 18 that have Simon Yates (Jakob747 has Barguil getting lots of points this week instead). DJW is the only team in the top 5 without Gaviria too, which is significant since CQ included his Monday win in the update - if it had been a normal update up until Sunday, DJW would have won the week. But, such are the vagaries of the CQ game. Congratulations to Eric10, who takes the week!

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   up/down
    1   Eric10   (+65)
    2   DJW   (+64)
    3   Leadbelly   (+44)
    4   Jakob747   (+40)
    5   kabete   (+35)

kabete, who was 6th in the Top Scorers, moves up to 5th in this, while 18-Valve goes from 5th in the other chart to 7th. Not much difference here.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   DJW   102
    2   Nicosix   73
    3   ItalianGigolo   71.2
    4   Trudgin   67
    5   the asian   61
    5   LightBing   61
    5   GP Blanco   61

DJW can gain some consolation over having lost the week, as their team moves into the top spot in the Green Jersey comp. Nicosix gains six points to go into sole possession of 2nd overall, while ItalianGigolo falls from the top to 3rd.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
    1   (+6)   Nicosix   2654
    2   (-1)   LightBing   2567
    3   (+7)   jeroenk   2544
    4   (+4)   greenedge   2535
    5   (-1)   tom_jelte   2519
    6   (-4)   HelgeBlendet   2472
    7   (-4)   Pentacycle   2459
    8   (+26)   18-Valve. (pithy)   2451
    9   (-3)   Russell23   2421
    10   (-1)   shalgo   2404

Not quite as dramatic of swings as last week, but still a lot of movement. Including a new leader - Nicosix leaps up from 7th to 1st, and not only that, first by almost 90 points! LightBing moves down to 2nd this week, while the ever-present jeroenk rounds out the podium. The eye-catcher here is 18-Valve's 26 point jump into the top 10 overall (imagine how much more that would've been if unique pick Valverde hadn't been sick and skipped P-N!), but that's the only entry into the top 10, while Total Package falls out for now.

117th, could be worse, could be JSG  :P

Going by the other three years I've done this, finishing 3rd a couple of years ago was one heck of an aberration.

Stone of the week award for me: 22 place fall.

Not quite the lowest score of the week, but I suspect I will have plenty more chances of that over the next few months.

Well I don't think this has been the week to move me up, much like last year (Cancellara) the last rider I leave out and put most thought into has a stellar year!

Think my only interest left this year is seeing how many provisional startlists Amaury Capiot can disappear from when the race actually happens.

Update #10: Results in Italy take the Blues away

It's mid-March, which mean the big weeks are starting to roll in the CQ game. This upcoming week has a dizzying array of opportunties, from Catalunya to DDV to E3 to Coppi e Bartali to Gent-Wevelgem. Last week was not quite as varied, but (no pun intended) monumental enough. Milan San Remo continued the vein of exciting racing this season (if not for quite as extended a period as some other races), while Tirenno-Adriatico kind of bucked that trend. But both gave big CQ points, and with so many popular riders in the top 10 of MSR (Kwiat/Degenkolb/Gaviria/Viviani/Ewan and even Alaphilippe on a dozen teams), it was an interesting question as to who would have the winning combo of riders. Let's find out!

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
1   Blues in the bottle   950
    2   the asian   885
    3   Poles & Co.   875
    4   ansimi   845
    5   Geraint Too Fast   832

I don't know if you guys know this, but 950 points is almost 1000 points, and 1000 points is a lot of points! Wow. A game veteran who has played every edition (I believe, going from memory here) Blues in the bottle strikes gold and takes the week! But it wasn't all San Remo for Blues - sure, their team had the necessary Kwiatkowski, but rather than an enormous combo of MSR finishers, their second high scorer this week was Rohan Dennis (6 teams) with some enormous T-A points. Of course, Gaviria/Degenkolb/Viviani/Ewan certainly helped this dominating result as well. Second place on the week is former weekly winner the asian, with points from Kwiat and some sprinters in MSR, supplemented by healthy results from Roglic and Spilak. Rounding out the podium his wek is the thematic team Poles & Co., who definitely got some help from the lead Pole who won San Remo, but the '& Co', which included Alaphilippe and Gaviria and Degenkolb and Viviani but also points from rare riders like Alan Banaszek and Davide Ballerini, certainly didn't hurt.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   up/down
    1   Poles & Co.   (+45)
    2   Geraint Too Fast   (+40)
    3   Popchu   (+33)
    4   CQmanager   (+32)
    4   Falze   (+32)

Points totals are getting spread out enough that this chart isn't simply identical to the previous one anymore, as only 2 of the top 5 are in common. Popchu, CQmanager and Falze all have great leaps this week as well as the top high movers that get the double mention this week.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   DJW   102
    2   the asian   96
3   Blues in the bottle   90
    4   Nicosix   87
    5   fauniera   72

Well, DJW opened a large lead last week, but it's tightening up as spots 2-5 all score points this week. Blues' weekly win moves their team into 3rd overall, while the asian moves into 2nd. Nicosix has to settle for fourth, but we will see below that this is probably a consolation prize that is just fine.

    Top 10 Overall

    1   (-)   Nicosix   3451
    2   (+3)   tom_jelte   3338
    3   (+1)   jeroenk   3284
    4   (+15)   Blues in the bottle   3197
    5   (-3)   LightBing   3158
    6   (+1)   Pentacycle   3137
    7   (+16)   the asian   3111
    8   (+10)   fauniera   3098
    9   (+1)   shalgo   3096
    10   (+7)   Maaaaaaaarten   3091

Already leading the competition, Nicosix cements the lead for this week by placing in the top 10 weekly scorers. tom-jelte was also in the top 10 for the week and moved up, and you can see the double digit jumps by other teams that scored big this week. A lot of movement - with so many riders scoring who are on 40-100 teams, there are bound to be some teams that are big winners and losers. Lots of upheaval in the top 10 - Blues, the asian, fauniera and Maaaaaaarten all tear into the upper echelon of the competition, while Russell23, 18-Valve and HelgeBlendet fall out, and longtime leader greenedge tumbles from the podium last week to 19th overall this week. It was a good run, though.

Had an okish week with some points from Boudat, Degnkolb, Stuyven and Yates but Mollema and Zakarin DNF'ed Catalunya so could have been a lot better.

    This week:

    *be 3DdPK   2.HC

    Simone Consonni

    Can't see him doing much

    *nl Limburg    1.1

Assuming Floris Gerts will ride this, in which case I think he could do well

     *th Tour of Thailand 2.1

Sort of hoping Arredondo will ride and win this but seems very hopeful for either of those things right now

*fr Route Adélie de Vitré 1.1

    Thomas Boudat

In good form, no idea what the course is like, but he could win if it's flat

    *fr Trophée Harmonie Mutuelle 1.1

Same again, although this time I have Asbjorn Kragh Andersen and Boudat. The field isn't very strong so could potentially pick up useful points and see Boudat get near to profit.

    *be Ronde van Vlaanderen 1.UWT

    John Degenkolb
    Jasper Stuyven
    Owain Doull
    Simone Consonni
    Hugo Hofstetter
    Daniel Hoelgaard

Obviously hoping for big things from Degenkolb and a top 15 for Stuyven. Would be nice if the rest can just finish the race, of the four only Hofstetter has really shown any form so he could maybe get top 30

    *es Indurain 1.1

    Simon Yates

Hoping for a podium at least

Soler will be a nice little "win" this week and Steven got some points, the mad Russian crashed though so might drop a few more places off to look at the spring classics game where the news is much better  :D
