Gibson, also from JLT-Condor, was second in the GC too.

:-x

Stage wins went to Bibby, Hepburn and Ewan.

9 degrees sounds quite warm to be honest. Including windchill it must have been minus figures when I cycled into work this morning.

They should have more races that finish at 5:25am. That or after 20:00

Bit of a strange finale anyway. MTF finish with some descent at the end?

3h02m50s for the finish. It didn't look the safest last turn in the world for a high speed sprint and the inevitable crash happened. Pujol going down hard with Mirsamad (?) to blame.

    https://twitter.com/oscarpujol/status/846717069995388928

No injuries he says, but because of the so called MTF finish he lost a lot of time and splits were given amongst the other riders.

    Quick question.

I though WT riders couldn't ride .2 races even as part of a National squad. However after a quick perusal of the UCI regulations I couldn't see anything. Have they changed the rule?

not recently, no. The 2014 version of the "National calendars" rules say "[...] in national events. Only national teams may include riders from a UCI ProTeam or a UCI professional continental team.", with only the "Pro Tour" replaced by "World Tour" in the current rules: "[...] in national events. Only national teams may include riders from a UCI WorldTeam or a UCI professional continental team".

    Before 2014... no idea.

National teams can pick more or less whoever they like, also for .2 races.

Can't be entirely the moto's fault though Rui, you should have checked the road book too!

Doesn't seem very fair or good for competition. Next time I'm UCI president that'll be on my list of things to change.

on the official website it says the first 3/4th of the field was sent in the wrong direction though, so don't be too harsh with young Oliveira ;)

    Well ... no.
But it's not as if a French national team rocked up to the Circuit des Ardennes with Démare, Alaphilippe and Gallopin. ;)

This is the Tour du Maroc startlist, yes?

Right...I need to post one more skiing related video then, because the skills lacking in the peloton (finding your way through a critical sequence of turns) is one of the core aspects of alpine skiing.

Learn to visualize and memorize the course from the best :) In this video, Kjetil Jansrud tells you how to race the Kvitfjell downhill. (at about 1 min) As the world cup winner in Super G several years he is probably the best in the world to visualize and memorize how to race a course. In the Super G there are no training runs, but you get to take a look at the course before you start.

Not only can he recall the sequence, he gets the timing too (2 secs of his own finish time, ~2mins). This is a skill is transferable to cycling and especially sprinters would do well to practice some alpine skiing.  I don't know if #joker Hoelgaard has (I do know that the third Hoelgaard brother, Stian,  is a skier at national level, but he does cross country.

    Chapeu #joker!

(note somewhere there is a better video focusing only on this but I cannot find it on the web)
