Velogames - TDU 2017
« on: January 11, 2017, 14:06 »
http://www.velogames.com/tour-down-under/2017/

League Name:   Velorooms
League Code: 11140405

If you are interested in winning the season long league please keep your manager name the same throughout the year and ideally have it the same as your VR name or Twitter handle. If you change it, you run the risk of not getting the correct amount of points.

Due to this competition, the enforcement of one manager one team will be much stricter this year. All teams will just get the boot from that event - I'm looking at you Trek fan.

I was toying with the idea of doing a year-long cumulative Velogames league. Unless I'm mistaken, Velogames himself has mentioned it previously as something he was working on, but nothing so far has seen the light of day.

Just adding up the points would be one option, but your game would be screwed then if you missed one race for whatever reason. So my method would be just awarding points for finishing in the top-ten (ten for first down to one for tenth) in the normal events and extending it for the Spring Classics and GTs to the top-20.

    Thoughts?

PS. This year I think we'll have to be a lot stricter about people entering multiple teams. I can't prove it of course, but last year we had a Trek fan entering four teams for most events (covering all the bases as it were with regard to rider picks).

Maybe we need some sort of registering here or twitter of a team name for the year, those that reg are part of the game, maybe spring classics game as cut off?

I know some people change their team names from race to race in the interests of comedy, but I think most, if not all, keep the same manager name and that was what I was going to keep track of. Maybe I'll add something to the first post of every game to remind people not to change it + something about multiple teams.

Is there a need for a cut-off? Potentially someone could still win even if they only started entering a team (or scoring points) after the Spring Classics.

Registering I can kinda see a reason for, but I'd like to think people wouldn't play funny buggers and enter multiple teams in later events in an attempt to preserve a lead and to dilute the scoring. Plus how many would register? Probably only the few regulars of these threads.

Well done Blades back wheels. Had all top-three scoring riders with Porte, Ewan and Haas.

Haas was definitely a crucial pick. Only costing six points and scoring 678.

I might as well post the nascent overall league.

    Rank Manager Points
    1 Blades back wheels 10
    2 Ryan McCauley 9
    3 Ben Phippen 8
    4 Don 7
    5 Francois Dumarest 6
    6 Leadbelly 5
    7 Ozgur 4
    8 OSKARS 3
    9 Krathor 2
    10 The Ardoisier 1

Paris Nice next unless he brings some changes to the Spring Classics game and starts earlier than MSR.
