Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise #GPLM2017
« on: January 16, 2017, 11:55 »
On 29 January 2017, the Grand Prix cyclist la Marseillaise will open the professional season of road races. Here is the course and topography of the event.
The organizers of the GP la Marseillaise have therefore responded to the expectations of the riders by extending by ten kilometers the course of this event which opens the season on road in France.

Several solutions were envisaged but it is finally in the final of the event that the runners will make a loop around Roquefort-la-Bedoule while climbing the Pas de Bellefille (about 3 km), on the heights of Cassis.

Sixteen or eighteen teams will start including the nine French teams. In 2016, Dries Devenyns (IAM Cycling) won in front of Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) and Baptiste Planckaert (Wallonia Brussels-Group Protect).

Pinot and Gallopin Announced
This peloton, which will be activated behind the scenes and on the roadside on 29 January, hides another one: the one who will compete for the 39th Grand Prix la Marseillaise by bike. Here too, some leaders of the little queen are announced.

Thibaut Pinot (FDJ), who had failed with a breath last year to beat Dries Devenyns, should start his season in the Marseilles region. He will occupy the top of the bill with Tony Gallopin (Lotto-Soudal), another regular.

"To do well, perhaps it would take another ten bounds," said the two champions, who had greatly appreciated the new difficulty of the program.

Their wishes were fulfilled. Listening only to his courage, Alain Bernardi, the race director, made several reconnaissances during the summer on his latest CKT. The man with the famous red scarf then made his copy: in 2017, the Grand Prix la Marseillaise will be 145.3 kilometers, while keeping its main difficulties. For the second consecutive year, the Route des Crêtes, which overlooks La Ciotat and Cassis, will precede that of the Gineste, the ultimate "bump" before the spectacular dive to Marseille.

An event not to be missed, especially in this year "capital" for the metropolis of Marseille. It will be one of the first events of 2017 in the framework of "Marseille Provence European Capital of Sport", a year that will also see the Tour de France stopover on the shores of Lacydon on 22 July.

  • Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.
