Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

Thanks JSG.

I can't like the posts - given the content "like" is the wrong reaction.

I've got female friends who've been elite level athletes in a variety of codes in much less enlightened times than we are in now. Some of their behaviours (eg., refusing to talk about their "playing days", freezing in certain situations) have made me wonder about what they've been through ...
So reading these posts makes me wonder even more - and, if I'm completely honest, brings a tear to my eye to think that people who are just wanting to do the best that they can have to live through this sort sh*t ...

It's a sad indictment of what's happening with cycling in this country, that I had a number of options for where to post this[1]

Lizzie Armitstead becomes latest rider to accuse British Cycling of sexism
     1. On which, apologies if this has popped up somewhere else already

It's a sad indictment of our press, when newspapers of the Guardian's "quality" stoop so low as this.

Right under that headline, they print:-
    • Armitstead claims she was forced to dance with male team-mate at party

Only when we read on 5 paragraphs do we find that she was actually talking about her trade team, Cervelo.
Unless BC running Cervelo is another omission on the part of SDB and HQ. :s :angry

As true as that is, MV - and the article is really just a serialisation of Lizzie's autobiography, written with/by Will Fotheringham (long-time contributor to... the Guardian) - it doesn't reduce the seriousness of what she's claiming. But I'll agree, it makes it look like bandwagon jumping on the part of the Guardian, if not Lizzie herself.

I don't think anyone could, or indeed would want to argue that there isn't a gender based disparity in the distribution resources, within road cycling.
It is that other accusation that I found to be the truly disturbing.

Fleeman, Hammond, Hunt, Lloyd ... of course #cervelo was run by British Cycling! :lol

They could (should) have left out "British), and simply made the headline "Lizzie accuses cycling of sexism".

What's strange, at no point was Lizzie Armitstead Deignan[1] under contract with Cervélo TestTeam while 19 years of age. She turned 20 on 18 December 2008, and only came to #cervelo for 2010. Even if we take into account it could have happened during a pre-season training camp in late 2009, she would have been almost 21.

That's not to say the story isn't true; it most probably is. But if you're writing a sports star's (auto)biography, these are the sorts of facts you ought to get straight.

It's bandwagon-jumping by the Guardian to advertise said (auto)biography - but also by Lizzie for letting them do it.
     1. is that not how she wants to be called now?

In the light of this, it is worth noting, while the Guardian's headline remains unaltered, they have now changed the bullet point order so that the bedroom allegation is once removed.
