Classic de l'Ardèche & Royal Bernard Drôme Classic
« on: February 21, 2017, 09:13 »
NEW NAME AND NEW COURSE
FOR THE CLASSIC SOUTH ARDECHE

On Saturday, February 25th, the Ardèche Drome Boulevard will be held in the heart of the Ardeche region, where it will be known as the
LA FAUN ENVIRONNEMENT – CLASSIC DE L’ARDECHE – RHONE CRUSSOL, ,
following the signing of a naming contract With the company FAUN ENVIRONNEMENT. This new name also highlights the implementation of the event in the commune of Guilherand Granges and the community of communes of Rhône-Crussol which will be the theater of the start and finish of the event for the editions 2017 and 2018 .

The 2017 edition will also be marked by the introduction of a new route consisting of a first loop to be covered three times by the col de la Justice and the Rotisson pass before making a final loop which will be marked by two Particularly difficult climbs:

- The hillsides of Cornas through the famous eponymous vineyard

- The Val d'enfer whose summit will be located less than 5 km from the finish.

The winner will succeed the Czech Pietr VACOK (QUICK STEP) who also distinguished himself in 2016 by doing the double inedit on the ROYAL BERNARD DROME CLASSIC and winning the Fleche Brabançonne.

The Souvenir Francis Delpech will now be awarded to the rider performing the best performance on the combination of the two events of Boucles Drome Ardèche.

Finally, as has been the case for three years now, the two events will be broadcast in the clear on the L'EQUIPE channel.

  • Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

    Royal Bernard Drôme Classic

The Royal Bernard Drôme Classic Is a continuation of the last two editions with a course drawn on the territory of the Val de Drome and the Commune of Livron.

The course will deliver a very classical score with its emblematic difficulties such as the Great Limit, the Roberts coast and the famous Allex Wall To be crossed four times.
At the foot of the Crest Tower, through the Brézème vineyards, and on the assault of the perched villages, the runners and (TV) spectators will discover the sumptuous landscapes of the Drôme Valley which lend a unique setting for a race of movement.

usually the full races become available (also in HD) on the website a day after or so. You need a French proxy to be able to watch them though

#fdj Eiking (who had one of his best days at this time last year, in the Ardèche classic) is out with some undefined illness and back in Norway for recovery. Probably not going to race this time.

I watched it all. Great conditions and a beautiful course.
    Poor Pierre Latour.
Climbed the best, worked the hardest, but had three wheel suckers for company in the final kms.
Italian wheel sucker 1 beat Italian wheel sucker 2, but Latour lost third on the line to the small, chasing group.
So, we can call it good tactics at the end of the day, but they were very lucky.
