Danilith - Nokere Koerse
« on: March 13, 2017, 07:43 »
Also this year, a strong field will be at the start in Deinze.
6 world tour teams, 13 pro-continental teams and some continental teams will be there.

True to his philosophy, the organization wants to make the start, the champions of tomorrow. At the head thereof: the world champion of the promises Kristoffer Havorsen. Can Noor take a step forward? Last year, he was surprisingly second ... But will soon almost the entire top 10 of the last World Cup promises to be the start. The competition for the youngsters is great.

But some veterans standing at the start. Think of the last year's winner, victorious king Timothy Dupont or former winner Kenny Dehaes. Stijn Devolder is provided at the start in Deinze. Can the multiple Belgian champion and winner of the Tour of Flanders still popping again?

With Baptiste Planckaert, British champion Blythe, the young German vice-champion Walscheid, the Briton Daniel McLay, Moreno Hofland, Bert Van Lerberghe and other Roy Jans stand again at the start a lot of fast men.

And for the first time in years, able to Lozernaar Brecht Dhaene back Kruishoutem resident at the start. Maybe he cares for the surprise!

A fascinating and very international field will undoubtedly provide an attractive rate!

Which topper pulls on March 15 the lion's share? The bets are open ...

more information about the cow (for whatever reason those important information were missing in the opening post)

    Quote
    (gt)

The Danilith Nokere Curonian picks this year with a striking poster. The heroine of the campaign for the 72th edition, which will be held on Wednesday, March 15th, is a ... cow.

"And we chose a real Nokerse cow," says Robert Bothuyne behalf of the organization. "A logical choice as" cow "appears in the name" Koerse. By choosing this cow we want to emphasize the Flemish and the national identity of our race. I admit that we have reached the mustard at the E3 Prize. That match also won on appeal by its annual spectacular poster. "

In some games, the winner will receive once an animal gift. "As far as we do not drive it yet. The winner will not have to pull home with a cow, "said race director Rony De Sloovere.

Talking about cows I'm wondering whatever happens to the Black Angus calf that Wout Van Aert was awarded to after winning the Schaal Sels. He said he left it in the farm who offered it to him because he has no know-how how to breed a farm animal but only for the duration of the cross season.  :lol

By the way, from a discussion on the General News Thread, worthy of discussion here too.

    https://twitter.com/nokerekoerse/status/833998372411473921

Nokere Koerse is the only one to do that in Belgium but Tour of Limburg seriously considers emulating them this year.

A poll by Mediahuis (Nieuwsblad, GvA, etc.) shows that among 22 Dutch-speaking Belgian race organisers, 6 have financial problems but 90% of them don't lack any roadside spectators who come for free and half of them think it's inevitable in the long run.

I would be happy to pay a modest fee (like 5 €) if I got something for it - big screen to follow the race, toilet facilities, booths to buy drinks & frieten ...

I wouldn't pay 5 € only for the "privilege" of being allowed to stand in a field in the middle of nowhere and wait for hours to see a short glimpse of the peloton passing by.

That reminds me, this is round #1 of Joker (t-72) vs Fortuneo (search)!  :boom

Search, it doesn't have to be that way. The last time a rider called Vegard went from #fortuneo to #joker he went to #iam the year after. In my eyes, #fortuneo is not a good place to be. Riders get paycheck but no development.

well, Fortuneo is doing the Tour and some monuments, Joker dangling around Skandinavia - so that's a no from me, clearly. Joker is a major step down - no matter if the team is good or not. And it will probably mean the "end" of his career, as no matter how good he'll be, it will remain unnoticed anyway

    #fortuneo  Fortuneo - Vital Concept
    111 Bonnamour, Franck
    112 Corbel, Erwann
    115 Jarrier, Benoit
    116 Mourey, Francis
    117 Vachon, Florian
    118 Vallée, Boris

    vs

    #joker Team Joker Icopal
    201 Halvorsen, Kristoffer
    202 Forfang, Ole
    203 Hoelgaard, Markus
    204 Breen, Vegard
    205 Hoem, Bjørn Tore
    206 Skaarseth, Anders
    207 Skjerping, Kristoffer
    208 Stien, Adrian Aas

And PS: there are 2 Vegards that has gone from #fortuneo to #joker - Breen being the last one.

    The first one, Vegard Stake Laengen went #fortuneo --> #joker --> #iam --> #uae
and , this season: 16th in Strade Bianche (best #uae rider by 8 mins !)

How many #fortuneo riders transferred directly to world tour teams (without going via #joker)  in the past 2 years ?

    #jumbo Amund Grøndal Jansen
    #sunweb Sindre Skjøstad Lunke

add Halvorsen and maybe Breen or SKjerping for next year, #fortuneo have some catching up to do :)

Jasper De Buyst has only started to focus on the road. Last year the Belang van Limburg gave him 3% chance to get a medal in Rio at the Omnium for his farewell to the track. Last year he was 12th at the Worlds. Two years ago he was 4th

Kris Boeckmans has had a hard time getting back to his older level but last winter he said he had that feeling during training. Now he has the feeling that in 2017 he can be a leader again.  :cool

Yeah, I definitely didn't mean it as a criticism of Boeckmans as it's great that he's back on the road at all, just that De Buyst has appeared to be the strongest out of #lotto 's second tier classics quad in a few races in the past couple of weeks and I imagine he will be again today.

Hopefully Kris can use today to either get a decent result or as a warm-up for Handzame on Friday.

Then Joker go of road and crash as a unit, then kris boeckmans doesn´t like the form of Jules Justin and rides him backwards through the peloton

weirdest thing I have seen in a long time

a few more crashes and random going no where attacks from BMC riders

Another decent race, the season is building up nicely. Blythe should have been DQ'ed for drafting back after a crash, but you can't have too many of these things happen together or someone in cycling might get accused of being consistent.....

I am looking for a smiley with a figure lying on the floor banging fists on the floor shouting no no no no no no !
:angry <--- I need something stronger!

In an interview Kristoffersen says he is relatively ok - only some pain in the ribs (he had that from a fall earlier this season). Apparently a gentle puch from a Sport Vlaanderen rider sent him off the road. The rest of the Joker team are also quite ok

the worst thing about it all is of course Fortuneo 1 - Joker 0 (#fortuneo Boris Vallée 22nd, #joker Skaarseth 37th) - both teams flopped but it is a Fortuneo win after all.

Next round: Handsome & Classic!   :D

I would have gone for a scoreless draw myself.  :P

Joker had the most prominent rider with Forfang impressing in the break, but they lost those brownie points for falling over like nine-pins later on. While Fortuneo had the highest place rider, but I can only remember one appearance from them when an anonymous rider strongly bridged across to a BMC rider.

#fortuneo aren't racing Handzame, so DDP is the next grudge match.

It's rare that anyone is disqualified for drafting after a crash, although punishments do happen. Most actual dqs of that genre seem to  involve actual holding on to a vehicle. Was he at it in a really over the top way?
