Martin turned the corner way too far back and was held back by others until it was too late.  Valverde came around in the first 3 and the result was never in doubt from that moment on.
Albasini lost ground at a crucial moment, ~500 m to go, dropping back from third position to around tenth. If he'd stayed up front, he might have challenged Valverde.

Ah well.
