[2.2] Le Tour de Bretagne Cycliste
« on: April 25, 2017, 09:54 »
50 years is the beautiful age reached this year by the Tour de Bretagne cyclist whose presentation took place on March 23 in the salons of the Brittany region.

If the stages and their topography had been announced a few weeks ago, the announcement of the 24 teams chosen to celebrate the 50 years of the Tour de Bretagne animated all discussions.

Pierre Pouliquen, vice-president in charge of sports in the Brittany region welcomed a large number of people to attend the presentation. After expressing the Regional Council's attachment to the organization of major sporting events, he gave the floor to Agnès Chavanon. The director of the Préfet de Région's office reminded her of the importance of the operation "The Road Shares" to sensitize cyclists and motorists to the dangers of the road. Too many people are still dying on France's roads due to inappropriate behavior. Finally, General Pidoux, commander of the Gendarmerie de Bretagne region, was responsible for the safety of the riders, spectators and volunteers throughout the course.

It was then that the 24 teams making up the 51st Tour de Bretagne platoon were finally unveiled. 1st important information with the presence of the outgoing winner. The young Adrien Costa should be partying with a strong US team. The Breton people of Fortunéo will not fail to try to make young Americans flounder. The young Italian André Vendrame will recall the memory of the Britons, who had taken the 3rd place of the European Championship in Plumelec in 2016. The South Africans of Dimension Data will try to make their way in the Breton wind, one thinks There to Stefan De Bod. As for Team Gusto, this newcomer on the set could really surprise. The strongest European and French teams are obviously in the game and they will have to face a young but at least talented team. The Sunweb Team, a reserve of the world tour team of the same name, brings together in their baggage warriors in love with the classics swept by wind and rain. Supervised by a master of strategy like Arthur Van Dongen, learning could prove devastating for their opponents

Stages

25/4 Stage 1 - Rennes › Merdrinac (153.2k)

Fifty years ! Such a beautiful age deserved a sumptuous departure in the Breton capital. The Tour de Bretagne will then set up, its village leaving in the heart of the city on the esplanade Charles de Gaulle where readily crossed the workers hurried as the strollers strolling on Sunday afternoon.

This ancient place of arms and military flannels will live on this day an astonishing concentration of runners (150 in total), as many leading cadres, nearly a hundred volunteers, and how many enthusiasts? This gathering of different people sticks to the modern motto of Rennes "Living in Intelligence".

The peloton will have to leave the city by a neutralized route, before milling a gear on a stage without great difficulty. We tell you every season, and we repeat it freely so that you do not forget it: the first step is a deliberate simulation of the runners and followers. Let us keep the confidence in this very international squad, where the teams wish to seize as soon as possible their chance of victory. The first winner will lift his arms to Merdrignac after a very long straight for the group sprint.

26/4 Stage 2 - Saint-Launeuc › Saint-Pol-De-Léon (202.7k)

Second day of race, and here we are facing the longest stage of the fiftieth anniversary, 202 kilometers, not really difficult, not really easy. This kind of stage, alternating hoveling, recovery, sustained effort, suits the ambitious of the general classification, quick to write their history on the full and loose Breton. Indeed, in those mornings where freshness caresses the joy, the runners like to imagine the geography of the situations to come. Who did not think of it: to leave as soon as possible, for example, towards Saint-Nicolas-du-Pelem, it is undulating, there is "recupe", we can hold up ravito, there it Will not be soft, it is the most rugged part with two rankings of the best climber towards Scrignac, 112th and 120th kilometers. Certainly, The two steeples of the Cathedral of Saint-Paul-Aurelian are not yet visible, but the ascent to the finish seems without difficulty. So if the rider is bold, if his legs are burning with impatience, if Saint-Thégonnec protects him, if the murmur of the pack does not come to him, he will see the gardens of the bishopric before everyone else! The crazy dream is not forbidden in cycling and is happy.

27/4 Stage 3 - Saint-Pol-de-Léon › Scaër (166.1k)

Do not count on the counts any more than on the bishops of Leo to attend the departure, they have long deserted the gardens of the bishopric. Nor is it certain that our valiant cyclists will swoon on the sunrise at the end of the island of Sainte-Anne, or marvel at the Groue where sometimes the sun sets a luminous veil over the sea. Friends cyclists and studious readers (thank you!) They talk about the kilometers swallowed yesterday and especially those to come at the end of stage. For if, on this relatively short stage, our plotters, a bit teasing, announce: "short, but nervous" This means that the beginning through the park of Armorique resembles a superb Sunday morning rando, The efforts of the previous day, and that the follow - Excellent Jean-Louis Conan, former champion and faithful inhabitant of Scaër, is the image of his character well tempered. In the Black Mountains, after Plonévez du Faou and the 100th kilometer, several "best climbers" are climbing with slopes oscillating from 10 to 12%. In plain language and to "cause" steed those who will not have the blow of savate risk the laundry of the day. Thanks WHO ? Thank you Jean-Louis! Who knows his training routes perfectly. Note finally that the circuit is not easy, we suspected, with many fake dishes including the arrival 500 meters. 28/4 Stage 4 - Scaër › Saint-Gildas-des-Bois (198.5k)

Oh ! Never leave me who tells you, the front of the door where one played formerly ... Wise counsel of the "Prince of the bards Breton", Auguste Brizeux who loved Scaer and Cornouaille. We know, brave pedals, the subject is not here to literature, cyclists on the trail will not run the pretentaine, but actually leave the Cornouaille for another battle: 198 kilometers to Saint Gildas des Bois Bypassing the Great Briere. We are on the 4th day of racing, the final of yesterday will have cleared the overall ranking, the organisms are running at full speed, while we must remain vigilant on this kind of stage where anything can happen. Remember 2011! The Hungarian Peter Kusztor, flanked by three other riders from the east scented the good shot in the wind bearing, On the same roads (Grand Champ, Elven, Questembert) his escape will go to the end, installing it definitively at the top of the classification. To summarize an easy reading of the course, start hilly by Locunolé, then long descent to Le Guerno where is located the last climber (km 142) before attacking the circuit endowed with a beautiful climb where the arrival will be judged. In short it is me who tell you, never leave the bib of the opponent can play you a bad turn today ... A beautiful climb where the arrival will be judged. In short it is me who tell you, never leave the bib of the opponent can play you a bad turn today ... A beautiful climb where the arrival will be judged. In short it is me who tell you, never leave the bib of the opponent can play you a bad turn today ...

29/4 Stage 5 - Saint-Gildas-des-Bois › Saint-Pern (152.4k)

If we were divinely divine, if we had the beards of those who prophesy, we could imagine the progress of the stage between Saint Gildas des Bois and Saint Pern. This carelessness is necessary in view of the low profile of the course of the day which resembles, so mistakenly, a trap. Let's look at each other. Beginning of the stage, calm, the peloton can put on legs effortlessly, to let oneself go at those delicious moments where the riders installed in the off road of the road converse of small affairs of the past to the present while evoking the future. Then suddenly the narrow road (before Pipriac) stretches the peloton, the sinuosity adds a bit of nervousness, in the rounds of deep valleys the crossed conversations are silent, each one is replaced.

Not easy on these roads (Maure de Bretagne, Plélan the Great, Iffendic ...) to control the race, but it is a day when teams interested in the general should not waste time. However, there will be gaps on the circuit, where the peloton has to pass five times a long and severe climb ... The winner can only be a strong man.

30/4 Stage 6 - Montauban-de-Bretagne › Pontivy (160.9k)

We are there: on the evening of this 6th stage, highlighted in red on the road diaries, we will know the best runners of the fiftieth anniversary, a handful of solid fellows from which the future winner will emerge. These days of epic, the morning talks take the seriousness of great maneuvers. "Do not lose! Better, win if possible! And all of them to put the index inquisitor on the kilometer 83: "there you can not miss you, to miss is to give up! ". More than a team, more than a runner, the opponent of the day is frightened, yet he does not carry any number, but he has a sacred sign in the back: "Wall of Brittany". Long mythical side, often taken by cyclists, it was even honored by the Tour de France. On our stage it is located just after the refueling at kilometer 90, The rise of Mur de Bretagne precedes another classification of the best climber with, towards Cléguérec, a very long climb which can break the definitively platoon. The Tour de Bretagne is a benchmark for the values of our young riders. The calibration of the day is up to the ambitious who eye to the highest level, indeed, there remains a dish on the menu of the final circuit: a long climb of 3 kilometers ...

1/5 Stage 7 - Saint-Brice-en-Coglès › Fougères

Still a small last, muscular, nervous, to consume without moderation. 145 kilometers for an ultimate hope of upsetting the overall standings. It is in these small mornings that the heroes of the bike regain the primary instinct of the knight in crusade running to the opponent in tournaments to capsize a whole public of the faithful. On this route, there are possibilities to carry high its own higher values, such as this climb located rue Abbé Léonard in Le Chatelier, a large 16% over 400 meters, then a few kilometers away from the 12% (Saint Germain en Cogles) . The followers of the titanium sock, the last couriers to want to shake the untouchables can satisfy their desire for triumph on a playground to the measure of the most grandiose ambitions.

  • Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.
