The stage is basically flat, with just mild and gentle undulations throughout the route. The first 90 kilometres are raced on a fast-flow road, passing through a number of well-lit tunnels. After leaving the ss. 125, the route runs across Villasimius (intermediate sprint) and takes in a few short climbs along the coastal road. KOM points are for grabs at Capo Boi. Then comes a perfectly flat stretch of road, leading to the finish (for the fourth time in the history of Giro) in Cagliari. The final 10 kilometres are completely flat. The roads are wide and with a number of roundabouts, but no tricky curves. The home straight is 800 m long, on 8-m wide asphalt road (up to the last 350 m).

Of course, if this turns out someday to be the industry standard integrated handlebar-computer-braking solution then I'll eat my kevlar-reinforced aerodynamic hat.

I did pretty much the whole stage (in the car) today on our way from the stage 2 climb to Cagliari. Could be interesting. Strong headwind at the finish right now, and we can expect double of that for tomorrow. Also parts of the stage are totally exposed to wind, especially those massive bridges with ~80k to go or so, and the part with seaside on both the left and the right with around ~10k to go.

The finish itself is on pretty rough street cobbles, for the final 350m or so

    today's stage finish via @raffilpt:

That part at the coast from ~12 to ~5k to go is totally exposed to crosswinds, which seem to be pretty strong again today. Headwind from there to the finish then

I thought so yesterday too but the only contribution from the wind was a general slow-down. I record and watch every stage with a delay due to other commitments, and so far all my recordings have run out of time, I shouldn't have seen any of the sprints if it wasn't for YouTube.
The only attempt at GC action yesterday was #bahrain Bahrain-Merida made a limited effort to split the peloton on the start of the descent but should have tried n the way up if they were serious about it. #bmc BMC was positioned on the windward side the last lots of kilometers of that long climb - probably admiring the views and the scenery. There was't any other team trying to exploit that, not even #jumbo. They know crosswinds since kindergarten and they were on the leeward side all the way.
One thing that could make a difference today: late finish means less restitution time and short stages can be raced intensely before a rest day.

     Just caught up watching.
I hope Jungels isn't going to do that amount of work too often. Could kill his GC ambitions in the 3rd week.
A whole lot of animation, but not very much effect upon the GC hopefuls.
Unless you are Rohan Dennis that is......

Just seen todays stage and very impressed by Quickstep and in particular Jungels who on a couple of occassions just floated to the front of the group when the splits started and plenty were struggling to hold a wheel.
