A pretty easy approach but I like the red on the bib and sleeves
Nice! :cool
Maybe using the regular design, but replacing blue with red & putting the green star somewhere would look even better ... but this is already very good.
And as there's no real tradition for *ma champion's jerseys, I don't mind the "white with flag" design.

Fwiw, the ocean rescue part itself is something they've had on the "Turn The Tide on Plastic" boat in the VOR. A blue boat there, which does not look like a garbage bag.

My verdict (on the kit only; quite a bit could be said about the whole 'Pass On Plastic' effort - feels like greenwashing, though I'm not deeply involved in the matter):
It's bland. Very bland. The black panel doesn't seem to make any sense - ocean blue would both have had an obvious connection to the ocean and have looked far better.
And the orca on the back is just corny to the max.

Yeah you would have thought that, since it's a home-registered team, they would have made more of an effort.

    Could be worse, I guess.
    Could definitely also be better!

I wonder why they don't use the flag they have on the regular jersey and simply replace that with whichever flag a rider is champion of?
It wouldn't be great, but it would at least show that someone made an effort.
This and Aru's jersey in the first half of the season looks too much like the template "slap flag on mostly white team kit with smaller sponsor logos". :(

That is exactly what they did with the first draft of Aru's jersey, and it was almost universally ridiculed (including by Aru himself, IIRC), and rapidly changed.

Makes me think it would be better he lost the race  :angry
They even got the proportions wrong :(

Possible state religion issues dictate it will be a small flag, I guess. It is a bit of a stretch to ask an islamic main sponsor for a larger cross...

That's not a skinsuit, I don't think, so not his race kit. Just an excuse like signing in or warming up to wear the jersey. But anyway, two possibilities. Either Vermarc hasn't got it sorted yet (highly unlikely) or he will be wearing it on the startline.

ah, right. He is free to wear whichever jersey he wants though, the European one is not mandatory.

So Sag's  is going to look fairly similar next year to the last three...  slightly bigger than average sleeve rainbows compared to others? Plus is the rainbow colllar toooooo much?

[sorry cant get tinypics to open... but sure you have seen it amidst the autobiography media blitz!]

    Not too much at all.
Former world champions have the privilege of being able to add rainbow bands to their sleeves and collars.
He does that - and the kit he adds them to just happens to be a national champion's jersey.

Boonen did the same when he was Belgian champion.

yes I know all that but....

I just think the choice of all white jersey rather than an adaptation of the (truly awful) Bora kit albeit to 'house' his slovakian champ status, and to my mind slightly more pronounced collar and cuffs than many formers, is a somewhat deliberate intent from the designers to show the peloton who is still 'king of the road'.

He'll have that sartorial edge from the get go!

Anyway I have grown to liked seeing him in special kit - green, national, or rainbow, so I am happy with this for a year, heh -  perhaps before swapping in a fresh set of rainbow bands in 'Gods own county' next year!

Bora's Slovakian champion's jerseys have always been predominantly white with flag bands.
    Even for Juraj. ;)

If I were a (former) world champion, I'd put those rainbow colours on everything. :D
Never understood how other former world champs accepted wearing team kit that didn't include the rainbow cuffs - I'd make that a clause in my contract.
So, good on Peter for getting the full treatment. :cool

Looking at the Valverde kit and bike reminds me of an occasional quandary that comes to my mind: Why do we refer to these as the rainbow bands?  What weird aberration of the laws of physics would cause light to diffract in that pattern?

This is not a rainbow, it is a misremembering of the order of colours in the olympic rings.
